章 3: Chapter 3: Inside the game world [2]

—Knock, Knock

My heart skipped a beat as the sound echoed through the room. Panic surged within me.

"Come in," I uttered uncertainly, hoping they understood English.

As the door opened, I braced myself for the encounter, preparing to avoid any sort of conversation.

—Creakkk

As the door creaked open, I swallowed hard, feeling a mix of apprehension and relief as I saw a woman in a maid's outfit enter.

At least I wouldn't have to engage in much conversation; she'd likely tidy up and leave... hopefully.

Peering into the room, she glanced around before our eyes met. For some reason, she trembled.

With a shaky voice, she pointed at herself and spoke, "▣▣-▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣▣?"

Her fear and apprehension left me wondering what the previous owner of this body had done to evoke such a reaction.

Observing her tone and body language, I deciphered her words: 'May I come in?'

Nodding in her direction, I allowed her entry, silently noting her trembling steps as she approached.

I couldn't help but question the previous owner of this body. Maybe I shouldn't judge, considering he was a 'villain' or whatever.

Before she could draw closer, she stumbled and fell flat on her face. Realizing her mistake, she began to back away, muttering apologies.

"▣'▣ ▣▣▣▣▣, ▣'▣ ▣▣▣▣▣ ▣'▣ ▣▣▣▣▣"

'I'm sorry,' I understood her meaning as she trembled, covering her face with her hands.

I froze, I don't want to be get caught or appear suspicious by offering her a helping hand.

So, I refused to appear suspicious by offering reassurance, I noticed she was carrying a file, likely meant for me. I silently extended my arm, requesting the file.

"▣-▣▣▣▣▣▣▣ ▣▣"

'F-Forgive me...' she stammered, fumbling before finally handing me the file with shaky hands.

Taking it without a word, I turned back to the desk, signaling my desire to be left alone.

Seemingly understanding, she hurriedly exited the room, the door closing softly behind her, leaving me in solitary silence.

"....."

Now, where was I?

Ah, yes. I needed to investigate the language barrier between this world and my own.

With a determined sigh, I powered up the PC, watching the screen flicker to life in a matter of seconds.

The unfamiliar operating system greeted me, but I navigated through it with ease, recognizing the icons despite their foreign appearance.

As I scanned for a web browser icon, something else caught my attention—a note icon labeled "Glyndor to English."

I blinked, double-checking to ensure my eyes weren't deceiving me. But no, the words were unmistakably in English.

My heart raced with anticipation as I hesitantly clicked on the icon, uncertain of what I might uncover.

As the window opened, relief washed over me.

It contained the basics of Glyndor translated to English, offering a lifeline in this bewildering world.

However, as I scrolled through the translated text, a heavy weight settled in my chest.

The realization dawned on me—someone had anticipated my arrival in this world.

The existence of a translation prepared beforehand suggested that my presence here might not be a mere coincidence.

'Was it this version of me?'

A wave of despondency crashed over me as I contemplated the implications. Was I brought to this world as part of some orchestrated plan? And if so, by him? And for what purpose?

With a resigned sigh, I realized I had no choice but to adapt.

Hours passed as it turned into night as I poured over the translated texts, striving to grasp the intricacies of the language.

There was no other option—I had to learn if I wanted to survive in this world and find out the truth behind my presence here.

As night descended, the maid made her rounds, bringing me food at regular intervals.

Yet, despite her repeated visits, no words were exchanged between us. It was clear that she was terrified of me, her demeanor cautious and her movements hesitant.

—2:36 AM

I stole a glance at the corner of the monitor, noting the late hour.

Exhaustion tugged at my muscles, reminding me of the hours spent deciphering the intricacies of the Glyndor language.

"I can finally understand the numbers and letters of this Glyndor language," I murmured to myself, a flicker of relief coursing through me.

While it wasn't a complete departure from English, there were enough similarities to provide a foothold at the very least.

It'll still take me at least a month to converse fluently.

With a weary sigh, I leaned back in my chair, muscles protesting the strain of prolonged concentration. I reached for the plate of food the maid had brought.

Mid-bite, a realization struck me, and I set the sandwich down with and my gaze shifted to the file the maid had delivered earlier today.

Carefully tearing open the top, a card emerged, its purpose initially unclear.

Frowning in concentration, I scrutinized the text, struggling to make sense of its contents..

Eventually, I fetched a pen and paper, to decipher the information before me. After what felt like an eternity of meticulous translation, I pieced together the details scrawled on the card.

And after 20 minutes I finally did it.
