章 30: A Sad News!

"Who are you? And what are you doing in my room?"

Silence!

"I see you haven't lost your sense of humor, or is it the fact that you've been sleeping for over a month that's finally driven you insane?"

A smile crept onto Adall's face as he heard the words of his everyday companion.

Of course, he had recognized at first glance the man with whom he trained every day, and who was now sitting on the chair beside his bed. However, the opportunity was too perfect for him to resist making this joke, as he had inherited a bit of his aunt's teasing character.

"And if you tell me now how I ended up like this, Fercyn? And the others, where are they?"

Fercyn's gaze turned sad for a moment upon hearing Adall's last question. But he had to provide an answer so that Adall wouldn't ask the same question over and over during their entire discussion.

"So you really don't remember the events of that evening?"

"Yes, but only part of it. I still remember Master Orion asking me if I was ready for the transplantation of the second magic circuit. Unfortunately, it's a blackout from that moment on."

Fercyn waited a few seconds before speaking again after Adall finished specifying how far his memories of that day went.

It seemed like he was thinking of a way to announce something to the young man without hurting his sensitivity too much.

"In fact, you fainted."

Fainted?!!!

The words spoken by Fercyn were like thunder rumbling in Adall's ears. Indeed, they made him jump instantly.

"What? And the surgery? How is it that I'm still alive?"

From memory, Adall could say that if he lost consciousness during the operation, it was a sure death for him, as he wouldn't be able to use the life pearl to its full capacity to continuously heal himself.

"Calm down a bit and let me finish... You fainted once the operation was over. And as for the latter, it was a complete success."

"Hihihihiii..."

A passionate and completely spontaneous laugh was then heard from the lips of the young Windsor.

The fact that the operation was a success was too good news for Adall to contain his joy upon learning it. This feeling of pure happiness filling his being made him feel more alive than ever. So, in his enthusiasm, he exclaimed again:

"Where is Master Orion and Evelyn, we need to celebrate this..."

Silence!

"Huh? Why don't you answer me, Fercyn?"

Looking again at the dark elf, the young Windsor automatically understood that something was wrong.

"Is it Evelyn?"

"No, she's fine."

"So..."

"Yes, Master Orion passed away a few hours after you fainted. He left you a letter."

"How?"

The sadness that this news brought automatically swept away all the joy from the previous one.

It was visible on Adall's face, but even more so in his voice. It was to the point that he had to make a considerable effort to pronounce the word 'how' without bursting into tears.

He who had promised himself never to cry again since the day he met Orion might not be able to keep that commitment for much longer.

It was just as difficult for Fercyn to talk about this tragic event.

If there was a way to avoid this discussion, no doubt he would have already adopted it.

Unfortunately, you can't have everything you want.

"You need to understand first that Orion's death was not your fault..."

Adall's eyes became even more watery when he heard Fercyn's words. The latter was only making things worse unintentionally...

Evelyn would certainly have found more suitable words to explain what happened to Adall. However, as the elder, Fercyn had forcefully taken on the role of watching over the sleeping beauty to spare his sister the painful experience of having to explain their benefactor's death to the young boy when he woke up.

"Haaaah... I'm really not cut out for this kind of thing. You will certainly understand everything by reading the letter he left for you."

With these words, Fercyn took out from his pocket the letter he had been jealously guarding for several weeks and handed it to Adall along with a ring and a bracelet.

"What's this?"

"Yes, the old storage ring and the magic king's bracelet. He asked me to give them to you as well."

Adall's eyes lit up slightly at the confirmation of the identity of these objects that Fercyn was handing him, but they quickly returned to their darker shades due to sadness.

He kept the letter in his hand and placed the other two objects aside.

He didn't hesitate to tear open the envelope and pull out several sheets of paper on which he could clearly recognize his ancestor's handwriting.

Feeling that some privacy was necessary in this situation, Fercyn got up and headed for the exit. Once outside, he closed the door behind him and made sure his sister wouldn't disturb the young man for a while.

A few hours later...

The door to Adall's room opened once again, allowing him to take his first steps outside in over a month.

He now looked like a completely different man from just a few hours ago.

Indeed, like a wild animal, his gaze was very fierce, even though the persistent redness in the conjunctiva of his eyes indicated to those who observed him that he was a being with feelings too.

One of the two people waiting outside the room addressed him without waiting any longer after somewhat getting used to this new sensation emanating from the young man.

"What do you plan to do from now on, Adall?"

To this question, he replied to his interlocutor, a mischievous smile on his lips:

"It's time for me to leave this forest and return to civilization. I hope they haven't completely forgotten me because I've always kept a special place for them deep in my heart..."

The faces of various people from his past began to come back to him at that precise moment, and in an even deeper voice, he added:

"I hope you're doing well, the Windsors..."

One day, I discovered that what I truly loved doing in life was reading novels, discovering new works, imagining new concepts to make a character I loved stronger, and, why not, creating my own character in a work and evolving them in my imagination. I would sometimes spend hours doing this without realizing it, with a smile on my face.

Unfortunately, as time passes, we grow older, and with that comes responsibilities. Especially being African, where society always frowns upon someone who, at a certain age, still maintains a passion they developed since adolescence. I can still hear them saying to me: "It's time for you to grow up, Alban."

So, I recently found myself having to choose between my passion for reading and my ever-burgeoning imagination, and my need to create a monthly income, even if it meant having to abandon my passion.

I ultimately decided to combine the two by creating my own original work: "The War of the Primals". It's still in its early stages, and I promise to do my best not to disappoint you.

So, even if it's a bit selfish of me, I would really appreciate it if you could help me get it known. A comment to let me know if you enjoy it would help me a lot, you have no idea.

As improving is also at the heart of my goals, I would also be delighted to read your constructive criticism.

Thank you very much, dear reader.
