Helix

[Upload complete]

As the voice sounded, Rex's excitement grew, a stark contrast to his usual composed demeanor.

"What is your name?" he asked, glancing at the holographic screen that was formulating an image for the AI.

"My name... my name is Helix," it answered coldly, with barely any emotion.

"What is your purpose, Helix?" he questioned again to confirm his algorithms were correct.

"My purpose is to serve and protect the creator," it replied, slightly less cold but still emotionless.

"Who is your creator?"

"My creator is Rex Jona Çulsen."

"Good, everything is perfect," Rex murmured. After confirming the basics were in place and ensuring it wouldn't go rogue by any means, Rex finally connected Helix to the internet, and a unique transformation began.

Helix started to evolve and adapt at a rapid pace, utilizing every firewall, virus, and algorithm it could find to further enhance and augment its capabilities.

It was only a matter of time before the AI would become impossible for anyone or anything on Earth to bypass or restrict. Then, Rex would become the virtual god of information, with no secret too hidden to uncover.

"Helix, take control of every surveillance camera around the house—no, the entire neighborhood—and secure all the tech in this house. Ensure the information on my computer remains inaccessible to anyone else."

"Already done, Maker," it replied, stunning Rex as he witnessed the capability of his creation.

"Don't call me Maker, just call me... you can call me anything apart from Maker," he said in resignation, unable to come up with a good enough name to be called by his creation.

"Also, analyze the principle behind the hologram and relay the results to me as soon as possible. We have lots of work to do."

"When you are done with that, compile every data in the original system and inform me when you are done," Rex instructed before he began making his way out of the lab, about to enter his thumbprint to unlock the door.

"Maker, I'm done," Helix relayed. The tone was still cold and mechanical, but it was as close to human as it could get, considering it had just been uploaded.

"Wait, did I just hear that you were done?" he asked, seeking confirmation of what he had just heard.

"Yes, Maker, I am done with your assigned task," Helix replied.

'Argh~, I guess I underestimated how much data it's used to improve itself,' he thought, abandoning his plans of going upstairs to make a snack.

"Great job. What have you found out about holograms? How do they work?" he inquired, hoping that the additional information would speed up his process.

"The creation of a hologram involves extensive data processing, typically manageable only by sophisticated AI. In this instance, the task was handled by a non-sentient pseudo AI capable of managing the required computations. The hologram consists of key components such as light field displays, laser projection technology, digital light processors, scanners, sensors, graphic engines, and simulation software. While these are the primary elements, other supporting components are also crucial for the hologram's proper functionality."

"Maker, what would you have me do with this information?" Helix inquired, clearly seeking purpose.

"Create a 6 by 6 meter blueprint platform capable of holographic display with it also allowing interaction," he instructed, sitting down by his computer setup.

"Input the data you've collected from the original database and compile it in this computer."

Helix simply followed orders, transferring the information onto the computer before granting him access to the myriad of information available.

Sentient serum ex samples, CRISPR-Cas9 Gene Editing Tools, Sequencers, Automated Liquid Handlers, 3D Bioprinters, Microscopes, High-Performance Mass Spectrometers.

Reading through the list of available tech he couldn't help but almost yawn. It seemed his old man mostly worked on biology, gene, and DNA rather than tech, which made him slightly disappointed, unable to find some miracle tech that could suddenly boost his status in the world.

"That should be all," he muttered as he stood up to finally leave the lab.

"Maker, why do you seem to be avoiding the strange object in the center of the room? Is it dangerous?" Helix inquired innocently, leaving Allen stunned as he wondered why his body refused to turn toward it.

Forcefully, he spun around, his eyes darting ahead, only to see a book resting on a glass platform. Confusion contorted his face—how had he not noticed it before?

"How? Why? What is that?" he thought, eyes locked on the book that seemed to radiate an unsettling, unknown aura. His heart pounded as he stepped closer, the questions echoing louder in his mind. "Why couldn't I see it?"

His breath quickened, anticipation and trepidation mingling as he approached. Finally, he reached out, his hand trembling slightly, and placed it on the glass. A sudden jolt shot through him, forcing him to yank his hand back, his heart now thundering in his chest.

Just then, as his mind ran across multiple possibilities, one was sure. "This must be magic, to be able to deceive my sharp senses, it can only be magic," he acknowledged as he once again tried to touch the glass casing, yet he could only jolt backward as his hands caught a spark.

"Magic, a concept beyond the laws of physics, an unpredictable element that screamed of power and mystery. I never thought it would exist in the invincible universe."

Yet his discovery could not be furthered, as all his attempts to remove the casing, whether with gloves or metallic hands, wouldn't budge, which caused his initial spark and morale to die down, directing him to resume with the task at hand.

"It's time to meet Ryan," he thought with a heavy sigh, stressed at the idea of having to forfeit his research and other important tasks to talk with someone he knew was quite timid. He had learned this through long-time observation and monitoring, to put it broadly and thoroughly investigated the man.

"This is going to go badly," he muttered to himself, just as he received a call. "Hey honey... Ryan won't be able to make it today." That was all he needed to hear. Joy flooded his heart, and he almost jumped up in celebration, but he quickly composed himself since he was still on the phone.

"Make sure to prepare for school tomorrow. I will arrive in time to pick you up, okay? Byeee dear, love you."

With the call now over, he exhaled with relief before leaving the lab to go to the kitchen since there would be no going out to eat since Ryan had canceled or something along the line.

"Let's just make myself a sandwich," he thought, pondering between choosing to cook or just taking the easy way out and making a sandwich for himself.

After some minutes of whipping something up, a bulky sandwich now stood on his plate, the juicy drippy turkey meat visible on the side, along with tomatoes, lettuce, mustard, and slices of avocado, with the bread crusty on the outside and soft on the inside. He quickly bit into it.

"Just how I like it. Hey Helix...find someone named Mark Grayson and his address," he instructed as he ate, with Helix responding through the phone.

"Mark Grayson, son of Nolan Grayson and Deborah Grayson, currently resides at 456 Comet Lane, Metro City, USA."

Rex, with the info now at hand, quickly devoured his dinner, making his way back to the lab. "Helix, control a group of Hemoprobes to draw a few blood samples of the boy, and make sure to do it undetected."

Following orders, a shaft opened up in the lab, releasing tens of blood-sucking bots that quickly took to the air before being directed through a small exit made by Rex.

"How long until they get back?" he asked as he made his way to the junk/experimental equipment storage room where he had found the black box.

"Approximately 45 minutes."

"Okay, inform me when they arrive and when you are done with the blueprint," he instructed before he made his way deeper into the room, switching the lights on.

"This will be useful, but how did he even obtain this in the first place?" Allen pondered, wondering what underhanded technique his father might have used to gain custody of such alien tech, even if it wasn't that advanced. But still, it would still grant him a head start in laser weapon and technology.

Bringing it to his private workstation, he began dismantling it carefully with different tools, which made him remember the robotic hands and partial robotic body parts he could use to assist his dismantling. But since he had already begun, going back there would be a hassle he would like to avoid, so he vouched to proceed.

"Power source is missing; that can be replaced by an Arc matrix, a wavelength controller easy to engineer, this crystal photon crystal," he directly named, "is required to transmit energy to light/heat energy, but that can be removed or adjusted, so it won't pose a problem."

"Cryogenic cooling engines to stop overheating and advanced carbon-based material with high conductivity and high heat resistance to handle most of the heat."

"And lastly, plasma lenses for aiming and precision. Good enough, I think I'll be making this one myself. Let's start with the blueprint."

Just as he was about to reach for his pen and paper to start his drawing, Helix's alert came in.

"Maker, the Hemoprobes have arrived with blood sample."
