章 57: CHAPTER 57: "Family Gatherings:A Warm Welcome"
As Annika settled into her seat, DD kindly suggested, "While you're having some water, allow me to go and check on your mother-in-law". Before she could move,Mrs Royace appeared, announcing, "There's no need for that, Mother. The food is already here; just look, the servants are bringing it", DD nodded approvingly, "Well, that's good".
Seeing her mother-in-law, Annika stood up, intending to touch her feet in respect. However, Mrs Royce declined, saying, "There's no need for you to touch my feet, my dear. Instead, l would like a hug from you". With warmth, she added, "By the way, you look gorgeous ". Annika returned the compliment, saying, "You do too, Mom. I really like your attire". Mrs Royce expressed her gratitude, "Thank you so much, my dear lovely daughter-in-law," and kissed Annika on the forehead.
Narah interjected with a light- hearted remark, "How about we have food? I'm sorry, but l'm quite hungry, and my stomach is making some sounds that are irritating me". Both Annika and Mrs Royce chuckled at the comment. Annika reassured, "it's okay now; let the food be served". With that,she returnef to her seat.
