He opened the message and read Maureen's words, which urged him not to pursue her and to enjoy his new relationship. Ryan's expression turned icy. He quickly replied;

[Are you crazy to send me such nonsense?]

His female companion shifted uncomfortably, sensing tension in Ryan's mood. She worried that seeing him with her in such a familiar way might escalate any issues he had with Maureen.

"Is everything okay, Doctor?" she asked, but Ryan dismissed it, saying there was nothing to be concerned about.

As they walked into the restaurant, he tried to lighten the mood between them, and to some extent, it worked. The lady felt a bit more at ease. She was just an intern assigned to practice under Ryan.
