Chapter 44: Sanctuary (7)
~Third POV~
The next day occurred with 3 people leaving towards the Mansion. Otto rode the carriage with a nervous expression with Mash and Garfiel both rested and ready for battle.
Garfiel with his twin shields and Mash with his Life Sword Zeam. Both remained silent with Garfiel finally opening his mouth and talking to him, "I have to say I'm surprised you crazy bastard. You make a bet with that clown risking your freedom and being while saving everyone you can. I don't get you at all man."
His eyes opened as Mash eyed Garfiel shrugging at his response casually replying in a calm tone, "Heh. I suppose so. But after Emilia gives her all to save everyone I gotta show her up. I mean they are believing in us to defeat the Bowel Hunter. I'm more surprised how you are willing to let her complete the trials."
Bowing his head down Garfiel raised his eyebrow at the man that bested him easily eyeing him weirdly, "Either way, you have my gratitude yeah."
Garfiel sighed scratching the back of his head and gazing at Mash in a tired tone, "Sigh… Just stop it already. I won't lower my head to you."
But showing a grin he respected Mash for his bet against Roswaal as he asked in a serious tone losing his grin, "But you trying to outwit that clown now that I can respect. I feel the same so I'll accept your gratitude about this!... However, I'm here for another reason. I wanted to talk to you about something."
Pointing his finger at Mash Garfiel calmly pointed out to him in a blunt tone of answer analyzing him intently, "Tell me small fry, you passed the trials of the tomb, didn't you? Anybody who tried to leave or enter the graveyard without the right qualifications got injured. But you got out of there without a scratch. Care to explain?"
But to Garfiel's surprise, Mash openly explained how he entered showing off his [Unseen Hand] to make a point of getting his attention, "Actually there is another qualification that allows me to enter the tomb that you aren't aware of. If you have a Witch Factor you can easily enter the tomb. Even got a temporary permit from Echidna but very unlikely with Emilia taking the trials to break the barrier."
Clenching his fist Mash spoke with disdain clutching the handle of his sword, "I'm not gonna give that Witch Bitch the satisfaction."
Garfiel clicks his tongue as Mash sighs. But he regains a smile on his face asking about his future, "But when Sanctuary is free, I was wondering where you'll go?"
Garfiel raised his eyebrow grunting seeing the outside world with a glint of fear in his eyes responding, "Don't know… people like you wouldn't understand me."
But contrary to his expectations Mash immediately declared Garfiel joining the Emilia Camp without his consent surprised, "In that case, I welcome you to the Emilia Camp! We could use someone like that who is determined to protect those close to you!"
Garfiel argued back at Mash's words enraged by his words yelling in an angry tone, "The hell you say you fucking idiot?! Why the hell would I stick to your group of dumbasses!!"
Mash merely grinned smirking trying to convince Garfiel to join the group helping his fears of the future, "I mean since you guys are afraid of the outside world why not make friends to help you out? Being friends with Ram and me will help you get over your fear. One step at a time."
He growled at Mash yelling at him making Otto nervous about the conversation and causing Garfiel to speak in an angry tone, "What the hell do you know about me?!! Everyone is scared of the outside how –"
"I understand."
Interrupting Garfiel Mash explained exactly how he means having common ground being scared of the outside world in a calm tone, "I understand. Fearing the outside is something that might scar you. Scare you. Or possibly the unknown. I know it all too well being someone from beyond the Waterfall of your world... I know it very well enough. Ever since coming here, I was afraid and scared."
Garfiel paused listening to the genuine words but soon grinned recalling his earlier adventures leading to this point, "But despite being scared… I managed to meet Emilia, Rem, Ram, and many others. I came to realize I shouldn't fear the outside world as much as I would've."
Turning his attention towards Garfiel Mash merely smiled giving him some advice with him listening intently, "Here's some piece of advice. Your outside world reflects your inside world. What goes on the inside, shows on the outside. What we focus on outside is a reflection of what we feel inside."
Garfiel remained silent at his words contemplating them. Otto listening to the conversation was crying tears of relief thinking to himself, 'Oh thank God they didn't fight?!! Mash my friend are you trying to give me a heart attack!!! We haven't even met the Bowel Hunter yet damn it….!!!!'
/////
Arriving in front of the mansion earlier than expected Mash yelled out loud to see if anyone was listening, "Hey! Petra! Frederica! We're back!"
Coming towards the gate at the front of the mansion Petra saw Mash's eyes widen a bit surprised by his arrival in a cheerful tone, "Welcome back Mash-sama! You're back earlier than I thought!"
Petra seeing the group realized her mistake quickly fixing herself up and redoing her introduction with a cute grin twirling around, "Ah! Nice! What's up, Mister Mash?"
Mash merely grinned giving Petra a head pat complimenting on her cuteness overload from her, "On my god! You are so cute! It's just that I'm very relieved that you're safe nothing more. I'm back now Petra."
Otto and Garfiel were staring at Mash weirdly before thinking at the same time, 'Lolicon.'
Mash felt something off turning around and asked confused, "What?"
Both replied with a deadpan expression with a glint of disgust in their eyes, "Nothing."
Mash tilting his head confused shook it off as he began to question Petra where Frederica was located their purpose with a serious expression, "By the way has anything weird happened while we were gone? Anything suspicious and where's Frederica?"
Confused by the sudden questioning Petra explained in a calm tone eye darting towards the side of the mansion, "She went to patrol the forest barrier. She told me it was one of her jobs and… who's this guy that looks like Frederica?"
Questioning Garfiel sighed in relief with Mash gesturing for Petra to show them inside with a calm grin, "In that case how about we wait for Frederica-san then? She'll be here shortly I can just feel it."
Petra nodded innocently leading the way with Otto whispering confused by this course of action, "Uh… Mash, I thought we were supposed to take them out of the mess. Why are we just walking into a trap?"
Walking Mash replied in a neutral tone casually looking at the mansion, "Because we need both. I prefer where I have them at arm's reach besides that I would prefer not to be in a hostage situation."
Otto gazed at Petra realizing what he meant nodding in understanding. The three men all entered the Mansion with Petra leading them to a table inside the guest room with everyone waiting for Frederica.
Garfiel and Otto were both tense about the situation. However, soon enough Frederica enters the guest room a bit startled to see her brother speaking professionally only to be surprised seeing him, "You've returned much sooner than I expected – Garfiel?"
He clicked his teeth avoiding her sister's eyes seeing that all 3 of them arrived. Confused by this sudden appearance and return Frederica asked in a professional tone confused, "Oh… since Miss Emilia is not with you… I assume the trials haven't been completed, correct?"
Mash soon explained to the maids caught off guard by the context of information clenching his weapon in a serious tone, "That's right. But that's the least of our concerns right now. Currently, we need you two to leave with us as soon as possible, or else some sorry-for-rude words bitches will come."
Petra was confused by his words with Frederica speaking out loud confused as well by Mash's statement, "Leave? Can you explain why we must leave our lord's home?"
Before Mash could finish explaining his eyes changed into a glare with Garfiel clenching his fist detecting bloodlust in the air as Elsa casually appeared in the room, "Oh my… I'd rather you didn't say such cold things."
There is a creepy murderous manic in front of them, threatening them with a cold dagger Elsa licks her lips making good on her word in a cold tone, "Well… I would like to make do with my promise. Remember what I said when we met boy… I will open your bowels just like I promised."
Feeling a chill down his spine Mash gripped his weapon tightly with Garfiel growling at her clenching his fist, "Grrr… so you're the big bad that the boss man here is scared of huh? And you dare to hurt my sis…"
*VOOOOM*
Rushing forward making the first attack Garfiel rushed forward with Elsa grinning twirling her daggers at the ready, "Oh, I like this a lot. A plus-sized maid… small-sized maid, and 3 medium boys. So many to cut down how lucky me."
*BAM*
Slamming his fist towards her face caving in on itself Mash quickly gave them the cue to leave in a serious tone, "That's our cue to leave! Otto ready to book it!!"
Otto understood Petra's understanding of the plan with Mash grabbing Frederica quickly trying to deny his actions, "Wait! Mash I need to – "
Before she could say anything in her defense Garfiel grinned slamming his fist together and bearing his teeth, "Hey sis you can leave this to me!! The Shield of Sanctuary won't be losing this one!! Besides the Bosman needs to draw out the other one and what else than me beating the living crap out of this Vampire!!"
*KLANK*
Immediately returning to the fight blood on her face but remaining relatively unharmed Elsa grinned amused by Garfiel's words, "I see so you knew Meili would come… Fufufufu… this will be an excellent bloodbath."
Blocking the clash Garfiel grinned using his twin shields brandishing his teeth at Elsa and slamming his fists together, "The boss likes to say... that the best defense is a good offense. So, if I use a shield meant for defense to attack instead... The best defense and the best offense come together, making me the strongest one here, right?! Don't ya think so, Big Sis?"
Garfiel never took his eyes off Elsa Frederica was surprised seeing him as he spoke out keeping his eyes on Elsa, "Sorry, Big Sis. She ain't the type I can take on while worryin' about who's behind me. You see my arm don't ya? The shields we played when we were kids. It was runnin' with you that made me the strongest one there is!"
Elsa seeing that Frederica nodded understood Garfiel's intention to leave. Elsa tilted her head introducing herself and admiring his courage twirling her daggers, "I am the Bowel Hunter...Elsa Granhiert."
Garfiel feeling his blood pumping prepares to engage against Elsa with his all in a proud tone glaring at her, "The strongest damn shield in the Sanctuary... Garfiel Tinzel! It's my first battle, Boss, and I'm makin' a helluva show of it! So, you'd damn well better do your part, too!"
*VOOOOM*
*KLANK*
Both clashed each prepared to end each other destroying everything in their wake.
