40.98% HP: I am Aurelius Dumbledore / Chapter 50: 50. Fishman Pier

章 50: 50. Fishman Pier

Pass through the lower city, which is gloomy, and follow the magical ocean current between the towering buildings.

Looking up, there are skyscrapers with twisted and strange shapes that reach into the sky.

The skyscrapers were so tall that they seemed to touch the clouds. Aurelius could see that the clouds were nestled among these skyscrapers, layered upon each other.

What's strange is that those clouds appear to be tied together, much like the channel they are traveling through!

Is it a map? How creative!

"Huh? What's that smell?" Aurelius twitched his nose.

"Blood," Skender replied. "It's the blood of a Leviathan. Looks like a big one."

"Leviathan?"

"A magical creature from the deep sea, very large. I saw one thirty years ago. It was more than one hundred and sixty feet, like a mountain!" Skender recalled, "Some fleets of the Siren specialize in hunting Leviathans and bringing them back to the city to be dismembered. Did you see the hooks and sickles in the hands of those lowly people? Those are tools for dismembering huge sea beasts."

"Although Leviathans are full of treasures, dismembering them is hard and exhausting work. No one except these low-class people is willing to do it."

As if to confirm Skender's words, Aurelius saw a crowd gathering in front of a dock. They held their hooks and sickles high, looking very excited, as if they were preparing to battle.

But on a high stool, a man dressed like a dog was surrounded by several sailors. He casually pointed at the crowd as if he were choosing animals.

The chosen one raised his hands and cheered as if he had won the lottery. He ran out from the crowd and stood on the other side.

"Tsk tsk - it's not easy to survive!"

Aurelius glanced at the Squib, shrinking his neck and becoming silent.

In a world full of extraordinary powers, they are powerless, timid, and often bullied by others. This is the reality for most Squibs.

While they envy wizards, they also fear them, but they are unwilling to let them leave the magical world and become ordinary Muggles.

It's a group of conflicted people, living in a tangled manner within the magical world.

"Why not use magic?"

"Magic? Ha! Leviathan's skin, as well as its internal organs, have magic resistance comparable to that of a giant dragon. What kind of magic can dismember it? Will someone who can dismember it come to do it?" Skender explained earnestly.

"The sea is vast, the earth is encompassed by it. The sea has given birth to countless dangerous creatures, and we have only scratched the surface."

"Do you know the different types of Leviathans?"

Aurelius shook his head.

"It's okay if you don't know. Leviathan defies classification. No one knows how to classify it. The dragon is the master of the sky and the earth and is universally recognized as a powerful symbol. But do you know? There are records. A Leviathan shot down a Hebridean Black Dragnon on the east coast of the Atlantic Ocean with just a splash of water, and then with one bite, it devoured the dragon as easily as eating a delicious cake." Skender made a controversial comparison, gesturing with outspread palms, and asked, "Do you think it is appropriate to rank Leviathan and the Fire Dragon at the same level..."

Aurelius squinted his eyes. The Fire Dragon was undeniably powerful, to the extent that only a few individuals in the world could defeat such a colossal creature singlehandedly.

"So, wizards are still the strongest. We even have a fleet dedicated to hunting Leviathan," Aurelius remarked.

"Then you must be mistaken. The Leviathan hunting team must consist of at least fifty professional hunters and ten well-equipped magic ships. Otherwise, why would Leviathan materials be so prized?" Skender explained, "And just as with Fire Dragons, not all Leviathans are equally formidable. Siren Island primarily hunts the relatively smaller Western Atlantic Leviathans, which are about sixty feet in size and travel in groups. These Leviathans provide the main source of Leviathan materials. As for what I mentioned earlier, it is about the Sea King Leviathan, the true ruler of these waters. It is said to be the guardian of Atlantis, but apart from a few historical accounts, it has never been sighted again, leading many to believe it to be a mere legend. I, too, tend to think so."

Aurelius genuinely found Skender captivating. Despite his rugged appearance, the bearded man possessed an aura of wisdom reminiscent of aged wine. Aurelius had heard and witnessed countless stories—each one resembling an epic—a dream.

"Okay, boy, our storytelling session is over. We're about to ascend to heaven."

"What? Heaven?" Aurelius was taken aback. He followed Skender's guidance and spotted four marble pillars, as white as jade, protruding from the open water ahead.

At first glance, it appeared to be a work of human craftsmanship. However miraculous nature may be, it cannot abruptly erect marble pillars amid a reef.

The boat sailed right into the center of the four pillars.

Woo...

Inexplicably, the ship began spiraling 360 degrees into the sky until it vanished into the clouds.

Aurelius stood stupefied for a moment.

"Hold on tight!"

Nausea!

Utter disgust!

Despite his mental preparedness, Aurelius had a hard time suppressing the urge to vomit.

"Hey, hey, hey! What's the matter with you, young man? Haven't you taken the Apparition license test?" Carlos looked at Aurelius in surprise.

Everyone else seemed unaffected, except for Aurelius.

"No, I haven't. I was afraid I would faint..." Aurelius said, resisting the impulse to throw up."Uh-oh, looks like you're in trouble. You can't use apparition, floo powder, or portkeys for transportation. No wonder you're interested in joining the group. No wonder you have to travel around the world for three years," Carlos said, gloating and joking from the sidelines.

"I must...ah?!" Aurelius raised his head, shocked before he could finish speaking.

What did he see?!

A boat was flying in the sky!

No, no, it was swimming in the clouds!

These snow-white clouds resembled the sea's water, gently lifting the boat.

Surveying from left to right, Aurelius noticed more intricate buildings compared to the ones in the lower city. Various shells and conches were used as building materials for these structures.

Swaying kelp plants and colorful fish floated around, accompanied by vibrant bubbles, swimming leisurely.

For a moment, Aurelius couldn't determine if this was the sky or the bottom of the sea.

Only then did he understand why the place he had previously visited was referred to as the Lower City.

"La la la - ah ah ah -"

Like the enchanting songs heard in the foggy sea, a fountain danced with a statue of sirens.

Suspended above the statue was a huge sign - Fishman Pier.
