章 86: The Black Cat, Part Twenty-One

The phone rang. Once, twice, then upon the third time, the call was answered. 

"Hello?" Max answered. 

"Hey," Emi said, taking a couple of steps to the right, just outside the former nightclub. She looked out, still making sure to check that no one was sneaking up on her. "What's up?" 

Emi heard some rustling on the other end. 

"Just got back from training with Jules. Hold on." Max paused for a couple of seconds, before then picking the phone back up. "Sorry, I was putting my clothes on." 

"..." For some reason, hearing that made Emi blush a tad. 

"Anyway," Max continued, "and you?" 

"Same," Emi cleared her throat. "Zenith and Asuka were, uh, getting awkward again, so I figured they can use a moment alone." 

"Ahhh, gotcha." 

"Phew," Emi sat down on the sidewalk. "What level have you gotten to?" 

"Level 20."
