章 10: Goblins 2

In Yggdrasil, it granted him the power to dominate any being lacking immunity to Mind Control.

Vampires were the exception due to his Vampire God racial class, granting him superiority over other vampire-class beings. Additionally, he could only control entities with a level of 65 or below.

'In the game, the skill presented me with a list of commands to choose from, and the targeted being would carry out the selected command. I wonder how it will function in the real world.'

Raizel paused at a distance from Vrag and activated the Mind Control skill. As it was activated, information flooded Raizel's mind regarding the beings susceptible to mind control.

"This is different," Raizel muttered as his mind filled with information. In Yggdrasil, Raizel would typically be shown a list of beings he could mind control, then he would select the targets, and finally, a list of commands would be presented to him.

Raizel then chose Varg and Aru as targets. After he was done, the eyes of both Varg and Aru went blank, and their expression relaxed.

Raizel then chose Varg and Aru as targets. After he was done, the eyes of both Varg and Aru went blank, and their expression relaxed.

"Hmm," Raizel hummed as he felt two connections being formed with them.

"So, no list of commands?" He questioned to no one as he scratched his chin.

After half an hour of testing, he determined that he could now control their actions through his mind. All he needed to do was speak or think about the command he wished for any of them to perform, and they would obediently carry it out.

"Alrighty then," Raizel exclaimed, extending his arms behind his head as he leaned back on the throne where Varg had previously been seated. Both Varg and Aru were kneeling before the throne.

~First Person~

The _Mind Control_ skill worked very differently in this world compared to Yggdrasil. Firstly, it shouldn't be able to command the controlled entity to attack me, yet I could command the Hob-Goblin to attack me.

In Yggdrasil, there existed over 50 commands at my disposal. Nonetheless, I don't recall ever encountering a command that prompted the controlled monster to attack its controller, even with the most advanced mind control skill.

The only exception I could think of would be the World Item {The Downfall of Castle and Country}, though I never used it, so I can't be too sure.

"I have to run some more tests with this skill. But before that, I should get some information from him," I muttered while focusing on Varg.

After half an hour of information gathering, I was somewhat aware of my situation. It turns out that I was in a forest called the Great Forest of Tob, which was surprising because I didn't remember any forest with the same name back in Yggdrasil.

"This further proves that I am probably not in a real version of Yggdrasil, but rather, in an alien world," I muttered while scratching my chin and sifting through the information.

In addition, I also got information about adventurers. According to what I learned, they were responsible for keeping the main roads clear of monsters and for clearing out monster camps or villages. The adventurers were mainly humans, and a human city was also very close to the Great Forest of Tob.

'It's called E-Rantel. What a weird name,' I mussed while thinking of a future plan.

'I should go to that human city to gather more information, but before that, I must find a secure location to summon some permanent monsters.' I thought while looking at the invisible Star Elemental.

I then shifted my focus back to Varg and asked him a question.

"Do you know any location where it would be safe from adventurers and other humans?"

While I could have selected any cave as my base, it would have been risky. There was a real possibility that adventurers might wander in, and I was still uncertain of their levels.

Even if they boasted beings of level 100, my summoned monsters and I could dispatch them swiftly. However, another factor to consider was that the sudden disappearance of these adventurers might raise alarms. If the the aforementioned adventurers were nobodies then there wouldn't be a problem, but what if they are famous.

Then there was a likelihood that a full raid would be dispatched to my base.

Therefore, it was wise to seek out a location untouched by adventurers and other humans.

"Yes, the base of the Giant of East should do nicely. Adventurers only rarely venture to that part of the Great Forest of Tob. And even if they do, they dare not go into the base of the Giant of East."

Another thing to note was that, after being mind-controlled, Varg's way of speech also became much more refined.

"Do you know anything about this Giant of the East?"

After gathering some information, I learned a little about him. Varg didn't know much about him other than his base's location and that he controlled a lot of trolls and ogres.

After gathering more information, I got up from the throne and moved toward the camp's entrance.

"Lead me to his base," I turned around and ordered Varg.

~Scene Change~

A small battalion of knights rode their horses in an open field at breakneck speed. Even though it was night, they didn't seem to care much about it.

Most of the members were clad in leather armour only, with just two of them sporting traditional metal armour. One was at the battalion's helm and leading them, while the other trailed a distance away from the former.

The one at the helm was a muscular man of around thirty years old. He had a sunbathed dark face with noticeable wrinkles, short, trimmed black hair, and black eyes as sharp as a sword.

His name was Gazef Stronoff, the warrior captain of the Re-Estize Kingdom. Riding behind him was his second in command. His name was Hart Thistle.

Ramposa-III, the kingdom's king, had ordered Gazef to investigate the bandit's activity near the Baharuth Empire's border. According to the latest information, they destroyed a small village near the Great Forest of Tob.

'I hope these bandits didn't destroy another village.' Gazef thought as he glanced toward the full moon.

"But I can't shake the fleeting sensation that it won't unfold as smoothly as I'm hoping."

He spoke loudly enough that his vice-captain heard him.

"Did you say something, chief warrior?" He asked while moving near Gazef.

Gazef turned his head toward him and shook it.

"Nothing, I was just thinking about these bandits. What do you think of this situation, Hart."

"Honestly, I find the situation rather strange. This is the first time I even heard of bandits in this area of the kingdom. Mostly, they make their camps around other towns where the number of adventurers is low," he continued while looking straight toward the dirt path.

The closest town near this area of the kingdom was E-Rantel, and because of the presence of the Great Forest of Tob, it was teeming with adventurers. So, it was rare for bandits to make camps near this area, yet it was not unheard of.

Yet, there was never a report of them destroying villages; the most they did was robe a few wealthy merchants. That was the reason that Hart was suspicious about the incident.

"I smell of something sinister this time, captain. I believe we're not dealing with ordinary bandits; instead, these might be imperial knights from the Empire," Hart continued.

Gazef was intrigued by the suggestion. He had also thought of this possibility, but one thing bugged him.

"But what merit does the Empire see in attacking small villages?" Gazef asked Hart.

"That I don't know, captain. However, I think it is a ploy to get rid of you. The Noble faction doesn't like you very much, and it is an open secret. So, this is a perfect opportunity to deal with you. And even the king ordered you to personally investigate this, captain."

The Kingdom of Re-Estize was split into two factions: the Noble faction and the Royal faction. The Noble faction saw commoners as mere canon fodders and the subject of their every whim.

Moreover, Gazef's status as a commoner fueled discontent among the nobility, making his position as the chief warrior of the kingdom a source of displeasure for them.

The Noble faction had previously attempted to tarnish Gazef's reputation, orchestrating schemes to provoke the king into punishing him and revoking his position as the chief warrior.

But, to their dismay, the king trusted him and didn't let their schemes sway his decision. This was also because he could only trust Gazef with his secrets and weaknesses, which he had many of.

The division into two factions directly resulted from the king's ineffective rulership and poor decision-making. Consequently, the Noble faction rose to prominence, overshadowing the weaker Royal faction.

Listening to his reasoning, Gazef slightly smiled and replied.

"Ploy or not. I am the sword of my king- even if he commands me to march to my death in a futile war, I won't bat an eye. My life is my king's to do as he pleases."

Saying this, he whipped the reigns, and the horse started running at an even higher speed. Hart shook his head and imitated Gazef's actions.

~Scene Change~

A small group of people were moving in the shadows of the Great Forest of Tob. The full moon's light provided enough light for them to traverse their pathway.

At the helm of this small group was a man with blonde hair, black eyes and a scar on his face. He donned a black, high-collared coat and a black pant.

'We should be close to our destination,' he thought while glancing back at the group's other members. A weird thing about them was their clothing, which was similar. They all wore grey helmets, coats, and pants to hide their identity.

'I can't mess this mission up; the Cardinals were the ones to give me this mission, and I would make sure that it is fulfilled even if I have to sacrifice all the scripture members.'

He thought while caressing a blue crystal in his bag. If Raizel had seen the crystal, he would've recognized it as a Sealing Crystal from Yggdrasil.

The man's name was Nigun Grid Luin, and he was the captain of one of the scriptures of the Slane Theocracy, known as the Sunlight Scripture.

After half an hour of travelling, he stopped. Seeing this, the other members of the scripture also stopped. He turned around and commanded them.

"Set camp here; we will start our journey early tomorrow. Rest well because tomorrow, we will face the strongest human of the Kingdom."

To be continued...
