章 16: Naming ceremony
"So, the first step is to feel the mana within," the boy murmured to himself.
"From what I've read in manga and manwah in my old world, a person with Mana can sense a warmth inside them when they try to connect with it. Let's give it a try," he thought, while reclining on his bed.
Bang! The door swung open, and Athena strode in, adorned in a black dress with a matching bunny ribbon perched atop her head.
"Hey, little one, I'm here to dress you up for the party," Athena announced cheerfully.
"Looks like my mana training session will have to wait," the boy chuckled to himself.
"No, princess, you can't handle that. The baby's bones are fragile, and they're too delicate for you to manage alone," the maids chimed in, shaking their heads.
"But I want to help," Athena protested, determination flashing in her eyes.
"You're not strong enough, Athena. Let me handle it," Noir intervened, sweeping Athena up into her arms.
"Alright, I'll assist Mama. And tell the maids to stop treating me like a child; I'm five years old now," Athena pouted, her adorable face pleading for independence.
"I'll talk to them later. Come on, let's get to work," Noir chuckled, leading Athena away.
Together, Noir and Athena dressed the twins in elegant attire. The boy donned white pants, a matching shirt, topped with a vibrant red coat and bow tie, while the girl was adorned in a dark blue dress with intricate black diamond patterns, accessorized with a ribbon mirroring Athena's.
Throne and Elina made their entrance, admiring their children's transformation.
"My darlings, you all look absolutely adorable. And big sister, you're stunning in that dress," Elina cooed, her eyes brimming with maternal pride.
"Enough flattering; look at yourselves. You both look divine," Noir teased, pulling Elina into a tender embrace.
"And what about me?" Throne interjected, a playful grin spreading across his face.
"You, my dear, are the epitome of charm," Elina and Noir chimed in unison, their voices filled with adoration.
Noir wore a sleek black dress adorned with sparkling diamonds, Elina donned a pristine white dress with matching jewels, while Throne exuded sophistication in a striking black and red tuxedo.
"Now, let's not keep the guests waiting. It's time for the naming ceremony," Throne declared, scooping up the boy, Elina cradling the girl, and Athena eagerly joining Noir's side as they descended the staircase.
"Let us extend our heartfelt congratulations to the Duke and Duchess on the birth of their twins," the guests greeted Throne warmly.
"Thank you all for joining us on this joyous occasion. Your presence means the world to us," Throne expressed his gratitude to the assembled guests.
"As the First Duke, I shall begin the ceremony by bestowing names upon our precious twins," Throne announced solemnly.
"From this day forth, let the boy be known as Lucius Serpentstrike, and the girl as Leona Serpentstrike," Throne proclaimed, gently touching their heads with the family sword, a symbol of their noble lineage.
"So, from now on, I shall be known as Lucius Serpentstrike. Quite the striking name," Lucius declared to himself, a grin spreading across his face.
The soul contract shimmered into existence before his eyes, inscribing his new name in bold letters before fading away.
"Ah, Lucius Serpentstrike, a name befitting a hero... or perhaps a villain in disguise?" the goddess materialized out of thin air, her voice laced with playful teasing. "Congratulations on the new moniker, dear Lucius. Henceforth, it shall be your eternal designation, whether as an immortal being or even if fate deems you my servant."
