Kai's death completely caught me off guard. Probably because that was the last thing I expected my father to do after I threatened him that I was gonna shoot Kai.

"How could you?" I asked as I slowly rose to my feet and he shrugged while pocketing his gun.

"He was always disposable anyway." He drawled as he began to walk towards me and I held my ground firmly. I was taller than my father but what he lacked in height, he made up for it from the sheer aura rolling off his body in waves.

He stopped before me and reached for my shoulder but u shook his hand off, watching as he rolled his eyes before leaning forward.

"Is the deal still on?? I help you leave the mess alive and you'd willingly let me have your mate in return, hm?" He demanded and up close like this, I didn't stop to think as I grasped his throat before he could move. He clearly didn't see that coming and he tensed up but didn't make any sound that could indicate fear.
