In the cramped, dimly lit confines of his modest apartment, Hiroshi Hajiro's existence seemed like an unending sequence of monotonous routines. At 27, he felt trapped in a cycle where each day blurred into the next, lacking any spark of excitement or purpose. The previous year had been especially challenging for Hiroshi. He believed he had discovered his soulmate in his fiancée, only to uncover her betrayal, which shattered his trust and left him devastated. Just when he believed circumstances couldn't deteriorate further, he lost his position as an astrophysicist at the start of the year, rendering him adrift and unsure of his next steps.

Thus, his days were engulfed in a haze of monotony. Mornings began with a struggle to rise, followed by a forced attempt at nourishment, and then he'd lose himself in the pages of novels for the remainder of the day. Hiroshi had always been captivated by tales of creation, seeking solace in the realms of imagination that offered a respite from his own stark existence.

However, today unfolded differently. As he reached for his phone to embark on another day of escaping into fiction, an unusual occurrence disrupted his routine. Suddenly, everything went black. It was as if someone had flicked a switch, plunging him into an abyss of darkness.

For how long he wandered in that darkness, Hiroshi couldn't say. It felt like an eternity, with nothing but the void stretching out endlessly around him. And then, just when he thought he couldn't take it anymore, a faint light appeared in the distance, drawing him towards it like a moth to a flame.

"Hello, Hiroshi Hajiro," a voice echoed through the darkness, breaking the eerie silence. It was a voice unlike any he had ever heard before, simultaneously comforting and unsettling in its otherworldly tone.

As Hiroshi cautiously opened his eyes, the blinding light pierced through the darkness, causing him to squint in discomfort. His eyes, accustomed to the void, struggled to adjust to the sudden onslaught of brightness.

"W-who the fuck are you?" he blurted out, his voice tinged with a mix of confusion and frustration. The abrupt transition from the tranquility of his favorite novel to the disorienting chaos of this unfamiliar realm had left him reeling.

"I was about to read the last chapter of my favorite novel, and now I'm here in this more monotonous place than my life. Come on!" he exclaimed, his words dripping with exasperation. The irony of finding himself in a situation even more mundane and uneventful than his own life was not lost on him, and he couldn't help but feel a pang of annoyance at the absurdity of it all.

The voice's disregard for Hiroshi's frustration only fueled his growing sense of unease. As it continued to stare at him with an intensity that sent shivers down his spine, Hiroshi couldn't shake the feeling that he was being scrutinized, as if every facet of his being was being laid bare before this enigmatic presence.

"Hiroshi Hajiro, you have been chosen by the *Alpha System*," the voice intoned, its words resonating with an otherworldly authority that sent a chill down Hiroshi's spine. The mention of the Alpha System sent a jolt of apprehension coursing through him, its significance shrouded in mystery and uncertainty.

"You are not yet qualified to know what it is," the voice continued, its tone dripping with a disinterested boredom that seemed at odds with the gravity of its words. Hiroshi's mind raced with questions, his curiosity piqued by the tantalizing hint of something beyond his comprehension.

"You have been chosen to be one of the Universal Creators," the voice declared, its words carrying a weight that seemed to reverberate through the very fabric of reality. Hiroshi's breath caught in his throat at the revelation, his mind struggling to grasp the enormity of what was being implied.

Hiroshi's voice quivered with a mixture of disbelief and indignation as he scoffed at the notion of being a Universal Creator. "Universal Creators? Don't speak nonsense," he retorted, his tone laced with skepticism. "I just want my novels. You think this prank will get me? You know what, call the police. This is kidnapping!"

His mind recoiled at the absurdity of the situation, refusing to entertain the possibility that he had been chosen for some grand cosmic purpose. All he wanted was to retreat back into the comforting embrace of his books, to lose himself in the familiar worlds of fiction where the laws of reality could be bent and shaped to his will.

The voice responded to Hiroshi's dismissal with a bemused laugh, its amusement tinged with a hint of condescension. "Hiroshi Hajiro, I am not pranking you, nor am I trying to kidnap you." The voice's calm tone belied an air of patience, almost as if it were patiently awaiting Hiroshi's acceptance of his own fate.

"The Alpha System has chosen you to be one of its Universal Creators for a reason," the voice continued, its words carrying the weight of finality. "You are a person of remarkable intellectual capacity and creativity.

Hiroshi's voice wavered as he spoke, a hint of self-deprecation lacing his words. "Being an astrophysicist requires intelligence and creativity. But I think this 'Alpha System' of yours doesn't know how to choose," he remarked, his tone tinged with a bitter edge. "Because this time, it chose wrong. If there is anyone I know who isn't fit for anything, it's me."

His admission hung heavy in the air, a raw confession of his own insecurities and doubts. Despite his years of study and dedication to his field, Hiroshi couldn't shake the feeling that he was somehow inadequate, unworthy of the lofty aspirations thrust upon him by the voice.

In that moment of vulnerability, Hiroshi found himself confronting the harsh reality of his own limitations. The weight of his failures and shortcomings bore down on him like a burden too heavy to bear, casting a shadow over his already fragile sense of self-worth.

And yet, amidst the self-doubt and uncertainty, there lingered a glimmer of defiance. Despite his flaws and imperfections, Hiroshi refused to accept the voice's judgment at face value. He may not have believed in his own potential, but he wasn't about to let anyone else dictate his worth to him.

As the words hung in the air, Hiroshi braced himself for the voice's response, unsure of what to expect but determined to stand his ground in the face of adversity.

The voice hesitated briefly before responding to Hiroshi's outburst, considering the astrophysicist's words with a quiet intensity. In that lull, Hiroshi's mind flooded with a torrent of emotions, the weight of his own shortcomings and disappointments nearly consuming him in a barrage of self-doubt.

When the voice finally spoke, it did so with a measured calmness, its words sounding like a soothing melody in the backdrop of Hiroshi's chaotic inner monologue.

"Hiroshi Hajiro, do you want to prove wrong the Alpha System that has judged you as worthy?"

Hiroshi's voice faltered as he struggled to find the words to respond to the voice's question. Despite his earlier admission of his own shortcomings, the weight of self-doubt and insecurity pressed down on him, rendering him speechless in the face of the voice's inquiry.

"I... I..." he stammered, his mind racing as he grappled with the conflicting emotions swirling within him. The idea of vocalizing his own perceived unworthiness felt like an insurmountable hurdle, a confession too painful to utter aloud.

For Hiroshi, acknowledging his own inadequacies was one thing, but verbalizing them was a step too far. It was a raw vulnerability he wasn't ready to confront, a truth too painful to confront head-on.

In the suffocating silence that followed, Hiroshi's thoughts churned like a tempest, torn between the desire to speak his truth and the fear of exposing his vulnerabilities to the unforgiving scrutiny of the voice.

But in the end, the words remained lodged in his throat, unspoken and unacknowledged. For Hiroshi, admitting his own unworthiness was a truth too painful to bear, a burden he carried in silence as he grappled with the daunting uncertainty of his newfound destiny.

The voice seemed to sense Hiroshi's inner turmoil, as it remained quiet for an uncomfortably long period of time. As the physicist attempted to gather his thoughts, it was as if an internal struggle was playing out within his mind, the voice almost like an external manifestation of Hiroshi's conflicting emotions.

When the voice finally spoke again, there was a hint of compassion in its tone, its words tinged with a faint resonance of understanding.

"Hiroshi Hajiro, may I ask you a question?"

The voice broke Hiroshi's train of thought. "Yes?"

"Are you happy?" came the voice's blunt, straight-to-the-point query.

There was no room for ambiguity in its intention, as the simple question pierced through the quiet air, bearing down on Hiroshi in an almost oppressive intensity.

Hiroshi could feel every fiber in his being quivering beneath the scrutiny of the voice's unfeeling gaze, as his every answer to the deceptively simple question could have far-reaching consequences.
