The sound of Marcus' body falling on the ground echoed along the quiet night breeze. His head rolled away from the body.
Slowly, Jackson gazed down at it without showing any sign of emotion. "Hah…" he breathed out, hearing these faint sizzling noises before some dark mist ascended from Marcus's body.
Marcus was fading, turning into ashes.
Considering transforming into a vampire would make one's blood boil to the point it was scalding your skin from the inside, Jackson was not surprised. If anything, he had this new understanding of why Marcus felt so scared when he briefly regained his consciousness.
"Quentin," he whispered. "What a vile creature Filomena had created."
Just then, Jackson sensed another person's figure appear on the rooftop. However, he didn't feel the need to fight because he already knew this person even without looking at him.
