"I need to give him some spanking, huh!"
Suddenly, Kyros's faint voice emerged, barely audible amidst the bustling atmosphere of the guild due to various reasons.
Swish!
All eyes turned towards Kyros, widened in disbelief.
Laxus, the grandson of Makarov and a formidable mage in his own right, stood at the pinnacle of strength within the guild. Apart from Gildarts, an S-class mage, no one within the guild could rival Laxus.
Yet here was Kyros, daring to mention giving a spanking to Laxus.
Laxus halted his steps, his expression darkening as he fixed his gaze on Kyros. "What did you just say? Say it again."
"Repeat it? Couldn't hear me? I'll say it again—I said I'm going to give you a spanking," Kyros responded, his expression nonchalant as he stood up to meet Laxus's gaze.
"You insolent fool!"
"Crackling crackling!" Golden lightning crackled around Laxus's body.
"I was willing to let your lack of humility slide, but since you've spoken, consider this your challenge for an S-Class Mage Promotion Trial!"
"Others may be lenient because of your grandfather, but I won't overlook what you just said."
"Laxus, if you want to avoid getting hurt, back down now. As long as I'm here, you won't stand a chance at becoming an S-class mage."
Kyros stood firm, meeting Laxus's glare head-on.
Kyros was never one to bow down easily. His philosophy was simple: 'Don't attack me, and I won't attack you. But if you come at me, expect retaliation.'
"What did you say?!"
Witnessing the confrontation between Kyros and Laxus, the council members were astonished.
At that moment, footsteps echoed from the staircase as Makarov, the guild master, and Gildarts descended.
With a fierce glare, Laxus spoke to Kyros, "Fine, let's see if your strength matches your big talk. We'll settle this elsewhere."
Laxus, accompanied by his Thunder God Tribe, departed, leaving many in the council relieved. They were grateful that Makarov and Gildarts intervened; otherwise, a brawl might have erupted right there.
Within Fairy Tail, news traveled fast, and naturally, Makarov and Gildarts had heard about the incident.
"I apologize, Kyros. Laxus has always had a temper. Please don't take it personally," Makarov addressed Kyros, puzzled by his grandson's behavior, which seemed out of character.
But Makarov knew Kyros well. Despite his youthful appearance, Kyros exuded a maturity beyond his years. While Makarov wasn't fully aware of Kyros's capabilities, he recalled Kyros's remarkable display of strength during the Tenrou Island ordeal.
Kyros quickly raised his hand. "No need to apologize, Master. Laxus is Laxus, and you're the guild master. If you were to apologize, I might lose the nerve to teach him a lesson."
"Don't worry about sparing his feelings because of me. If he's in the wrong, he deserves to be reprimanded."
Seeing Kyros's resolve, Makarov felt reassured, knowing that there was no animosity between Kyros and Laxus because of his intervention.
"Boy, you really know how to keep your cool," Gildarts said, ruffling Kyros's hair with a smile.
"I can eat, just can't lose," Kyros replied.
Gildarts chuckled at Kyros's response. "Haha, true. But remember, Laxus isn't someone to underestimate. His strength shouldn't be taken lightly!"
Kyros pursed his lips. "I'm not the one underestimating him, okay?"
"Come on! I can see you becoming the new S-class mage," Gildarts encouraged.
With the council returning to its usual bustling state, Kyros and Laxus's confrontation was pushed to the back of everyone's minds. Many began speculating on who would be the next S-class mage, with most placing their bets on Laxus due to his obvious strength.
Though Kyros seemed promising, he still paled in comparison to Laxus, especially considering the four-year age gap.
"Kyros, Laxus is incredibly strong," Erza reminded him with a serious expression.
Kyros nodded in agreement. "Yeah, I'm aware."
Having watched Fairy Tail's animated battles, he knew firsthand just how formidable Laxus was. Throughout the series, Laxus consistently outclassed even Natsu.
"Kyros, why don't you choose me as your partner? I want to take on Laxus!" Natsu suggested eagerly.
"Are you sure, Natsu? Remember last time you challenged Laxus, it was over in seconds," Gray interjected.
"That's all in the past! I've gotten stronger now. It won't be over so quickly," Natsu retorted confidently.
"Wasn't that just last month? Doesn't seem like a long time," Gray remarked.
"Don't be a nitpicker!" Natsu shot back, glaring at Gray.
Erza was about to suggest that Kyros choose a different partner, considering Laxus was their opponent, when another voice spoke up.
"I'll be your partner," Mirajane announced suddenly.
