章 2: I Got You This Time
A messy apartment with empty bottles scattered around, dishes piled up in the sink, and junk food strewn all over. I start cleaning the place and the two stumble in, clearly drunk. Lara trips over one of the bottles and falls onto the couch, while Alex struggles to stand straight.
"Where have you been? We had a bit too much to drink," Alex said, followed by a hiccup.
That's so obvious in your state. I just sighed and looked at Lara and scratched my nape. I moved here to peacefully work, and I had not imagined things like that.
"Yeah! A bit too much." Lara shouted, then burped, and went back to sleep.
"Well, it looks like you two had a great time." I sarcastically replied.
I hate to do this, but I guided them home rather than letting them pester me all day long. I've got so much more to do than dealing with these people. After sending them off, I suddenly remembered what I had picked earlier. I groped for the paper inside my pocket and took it out to see what it was.
"Adair University."

I've been homeschooled all my life and my world only revolves around my grandpa and our cute little stuff. But those tall buildings I am facing right now do not surprise me at all. I sighed as I saw the map given by the registrar after I enrolled. I'm quite confused about where to start, but one thing is for sure, a student or an instructor, I'm going to catch you, just so you wait.
"YOU JUST ENROLLED?"
It was as if my soul left my body when I heard the sudden shout behind my back, and I heard that voice. I closed my eyes and formed a fist trying to control myself, or I didn't know what might happen if I didn't.
"Hi there sweetie, I'm glad you decided to transfer to our school after making friends with us yesterday, but that was quite fast. I like it."
And again, those broad smiles of theirs never left their lips, and it's annoying.
The girl, Lara, took my papers and the map in my hands and one thing that I hate the most is taking away my possessions.
I was about to take it back and walk away, but Lisa stopped me.
"You don't need a map, we can guide you," she smiled, then continued to read my information on the sheet of paper. "... Ms. Kaesu Cadieux?"
I could not help but sigh, then harshly took my papers back and walked away from them. I don't have time for such matters, I have a business to finish myself and this is beyond my schedule.
"Come on! Don't be such a killjoy."
I stopped and clenched my fist when Lara suddenly grabbed my arm and leaned her head on my shoulders. I was about to push her away when Alex grabbed my other arm and did what Lara did.
"Are you two this touchy?"
Alex shrugged his shoulders. "Not really, we just really feel these different vibes from you that we can't help but stick with you."
And again, I saw that annoying smile.
I could push them for real, but my hand doesn't seem to cooperate with me, and I hate it. And so, I then again sighed. I let them lead the way and do whatever they wanted, but I felt dizzy and overwhelmed by their actions, they have so much battery to talk and walk and it's so draining. I don't have time to get distracted like this.
"Is there a problem, Kaesu? Are you tired? Well, this is a nice bench, we can rest here for a moment." Alex suggested, but I could not take it any longer.
"I'd appreciate it if you guys could leave me alone and let me mind my own business. I don't want to get involved with you guys and I don't want you two to get involved with me either."
They nodded and silently left.
And this is the peace that I needed. Now what I need to do next is to get back on track.
I have no clue, I have nothing to lead me to the man that was secretly watching me, but only that small piece of paper from this university.
Right! Alex and Lara, they've been studying here, they must know something about this paper. And now, I have to find them again after shooing them away.
This is a big university. How am I supposed to find those two? Knowing them, they probably want to wander all around this university, and I don't have the stamina to do that. Should I wait in the apartment and wait for them to come back from school? Or should I just look for them? Aish!
My whole day was put to waste when I found no lead to what I was finding. I didn't even know what I was after. They must be right. What could a 21-year-old do?
The sky was so dark that it seemed like it was about to rain. I didn't care about it because it probably wouldn't fall. I was walking down the street when it suddenly started raining heavily, so I sheltered in the nearest place I could find, which was an old building. It was a little creepy, but I didn't care. While waiting for the rain to settle, I just looked around when I noticed a man staring at me. I looked at him and realized that he was the man I had been looking for.
"I got you this time!"
I started running towards him and I saw his fear and ran too. He almost fell, so I took it as an opportunity to run faster. I grabbed the sleeve of his jacket, but he was so strong, I tried to stop him, to see his face, but he pulled his jacket back, so I fell to the ground. I moaned in pain and punched the ground in disappointment. I hate being weak. I feel like crying any minute from now. I tried standing up and running again when I felt a strong hand pulling my arms back. That made me turn around and see a tall and handsome man frowning. I could feel his coldness and anger. He gripped my arms tightly, and I could feel some pain, so I withdrew my hand swiftly before he broke it.
"What do you want from me? Are you, his accomplice? What are you up to?"
"Who are you?" he coldly asked in his cold voice, not minding my questions but rather asking me another question. He may be as cold as ice, but he can't be mysterious to me. His eyes speak more than his lips. My grandpa taught me how to read people based on their eyes. Your eyes can't hide anything, even from or for yourself.
