"Look, sister in-law," Caden continued, a bit more seriously this time. "I understand that you can't help but be worried. But my brother's no pushover. He'll handle those guys and get the information he needs to locate your friend's mother. He's probably already ahead of us, knowing him."
"It's not just that," Grace muttered as if Caden would never understand even if she explained.
Caden raised an eyebrow. "What is it, then?"
"Wendy's mother," Grace said softly. "She's still in danger. We don't know where she is."
Caden was quiet for a moment before nodding. "Yeah, that part sucks. But Jace will find out. He won't stop until he does."
Grace leaned her head back against the seat, letting out a long sigh. "I know. I just wish I could've been there to help."
Caden shot her a sympathetic glance. "I get it. I do. But sometimes, you have to let the guy take the lead, you know? It's not easy for him, either, seeing how he loves to indulge you."
