As he spoke, his voice had suddenly dropped to a low sexy drawl that hammered amorously on Grace's heart, causing her to unconsciously swallow hard, as she tried to steady her breath and gather her thoughts.
"How long do you think you can keep your heart locked away, Grace?"
"Sir," Grace began, her voice barely above a whisper, "this isn't appropriate."
Jace's lips curled into a teasing smile as he gently tilted her chin up, forcing her to meet his gaze. "And what exactly isn't appropriate?"
Grace's breath hitched as her mind scrambled for a way to diffuse the situation. "The way… em… We should keep things professional. Anything else would be… crossing the line."
Jace leaned in closer, his eyes twinkling with mischief. "What else could possibly happen between us, Grace?"
