"Master Ancient One!"
Upon seeing the bald woman before him, Clark immediately relaxed his grip, tossing Bucky aside like trash, and greeted the Ancient One with a fist salute: "Were you waiting for me?"
The Ancient One had been very kind to Clark from their first meeting, providing him with a lot of help, all without asking for anything in return.
As for fighting against evil forces and such, as long as Clark did not wish to die, he couldn't avoid those responsibilities, regardless of whether the Ancient One helped him or not.
Thus, Clark held genuine respect for the Ancient One, second only to Hank Pym.
As for Bucky? Well, he was still unconscious. With a gentle smile, the Ancient One suddenly said, "My waiting here for you might seem a bit cruel to you."
Clark was startled by her words, but listened as the Ancient One continued, "You know, S.H.I.E.L.D. and you superheroes are all doing your utmost to fend off threats from beyond Earth, while our Sanctums work to prevent creatures from other dimensions from harming Earth. Although our goals are the same, our paths are clearly distinct."
Clark nodded slightly; he had heard of this distinction before.
It was like the top lane and mid lane in a game: similar responsibilities but clear division of labor. You can't expect the top laner to always leave their lane to help suppress the opponent in mid lane. That's the jungler's job, not the top laner's...
From this perspective, Doctor Strange's intervention in "Civil War" was already an overstep.
"Do you wish for me not to involve the Sanctum in external conflicts?"
The Ancient One smiled and nodded.
Clark glanced at the still unconscious Bucky: "Should I take him and leave now, maybe fly back?"
"There's no need for that," the Ancient One waved her hand and said, "I just hope that next time, you do not bring those unrelated to the Sanctum into Kamar-Taj or any of the three Sanctums."
Clark nodded slightly and then saluted again: "Then I shall take my leave, sorry for the disturbance."
"Wait a moment." Just as Clark was about to lift Bucky and turn towards the portal to the New York Sanctum, the Ancient One suddenly called out to him.
"Don't rush off; I have something else to discuss with you."
Clark stopped, and the Ancient One stepped forward, saying, "I foresee a lot of trouble surrounding you soon, and each will be quite troublesome."
Clark gave a wry smile; he had predicted this as well.
With the unfolding of the Marvel Universe, troubles were inevitable. Killian, the hidden Hydra within S.H.I.E.L.D., and others had played disgraceful roles in previous attacks.
Once he settled his current affairs, he wouldn't let any of them off.
Troubles were inevitable, but what was the use if you weren't going to help?
The Ancient One wasn't one for idle talk.
Seeing the confusion in Clark's eyes, the Ancient One suddenly changed the subject, half-jokingly asking, "Have you seen 'The Investiture of the Gods'?"
Clark honestly replied he had watched two adaptations and read numerous fan fictions but not the original text. He wondered why the Ancient One was asking about this.
"It doesn't matter which version," the Ancient One gently shook her head. "If you're familiar with the stories, do you remember what teachers do when their students face troubles, and they don't want to intervene directly?"
"They bestow treasures," Clark casually answered, then paused, "You mean..."
The Ancient One gently shook her head, "I can't give you that treasure, but I can lend it to you to deal with some troubles. Remember, you must return it after use. Come here..."
Clark stepped forward, and the Ancient One took out a brass necklace, placing it around his neck.
Seeing the necklace the Ancient One placed around his neck, Clark was shocked, dropping Bucky to the ground again.
It was an oval brass pendant, shaped like an open eye, with magic runes carved around its perimeter, and a hollow circle in the center, resembling the magical array of Agamotto, identical to the skylight dome of the New York Sanctum.
Below the magical array, the runes progressively layered, with two closed semi-circles in the center, resembling a closed eye.
Clark recognized the artifact at a glance. Among the treasures of the New York Sanctum, none could compare to this item.
The Eye of Agamotto!
Beneath the tightly closed pupil hid one of the six Infinity Stones: the Time Stone! The Ancient One was lending him this artifact?
This was surely going to elevate Clark's adventures to new heights! Next time he encountered Killian, he could boldly declare: Killian, I'm here to negotiate!
The very thought of it was thrilling.
Excited, Clark asked, "Master Ancient One, may I know how to use this item?"
"This item is not destined for you, and I cannot teach you its proper use," the Ancient One said, "I can only show you how to activate it, which should suffice for the troubles you'll face."
While the Ancient One began instructing Clark on activating the Eye of Agamotto, news of Bucky's capture by Clark spread through various channels to both Fury and the Lama.
Fury remained calm upon hearing the news.
The Lama, however, nearly destroyed the desk in front of him—if only he could actually damage it...
It was Clark Lee again!
Was this guy toxic?
Sending Rumlow to test him resulted in Rumlow being shot on the spot, and Rumlow was one of the Lama's top soldiers!
After Clark's trip to Siberia, Hydra's five frozen Winter Soldiers were killed off, with one turned and now unrelated to Hydra. The serum stolen from Howard Stark ended up benefiting someone else.
The loss of the Winter Soldiers was somewhat tolerable, as those uncontrollable beings were unusable. Annoying, but not critical.
But now, the only obedient Winter Soldier was taken, which was too frustrating.
The Lama's expression darkened.
The bald brother by his side nervously swallowed, asking, "What do we do now?"
The Lama laughed ominously, sending chills down the bald brother's spine.
The Lama then ordered, "Contact our Russian counterparts and have them send me a copy of the video from December 16, 1991."
