Suddenly, a burst of wind rose from behind as the cloud civet pounced at it from behind.

Upon sensing the danger, the wind sparrow quickly spread its wings and flapped rapidly, transforming its chubby body into a green shadow that landed on Lu Xuan's left shoulder.

It continuously chirped melodiously, seemingly accusing the cloud civet of its harsh behaviour towards Lu Xuan.

"Growl~"

Upon seeing its throne taken, the cloud civet, unable to stand such offence, growled with a hint of annoyance and leapt onto Lu Xuan's right shoulder with a strong step that kicked up a cloud-like amount of dust.

Lu Xuan felt a minor weight on his shoulder, with a wry smile on his face.

Both creatures claimed a shoulder each. One was just out of its shell, chirping incessantly, while the other one had a coarse voice and was prone to tantrums. Lu Xuan couldn't find a moment of peace.
