章 7: Chapter 7: "Hey, human?"

The air in the egg keep hung heavy with the musk of ancient parchment and the low thrum of dormant magic. Oil lamps, suspended from ornate chains, cast long, flickering shadows across the chamber's rough-hewn stone walls. Ana, fingers tracing the intricate constellations etched on the surface of a mystical egg, glanced at Laura with a nervous tremor in her voice.

Ana, her eyes sparkling with anticipation, glanced at Laura. "This is it, Laura. The crest should be the key." She raised the crest they had acquired, its surface adorned with symbols that resonated with the essence of power.

With a shared understanding, they gently rubbed the crest against the heart of the passage. A surge of magical energy enveloped them, creating an ethereal aura that transformed the chamber. The air crackled with anticipation as the symbols on the power on the crest began to glow in synchronization.

As Ana and Laura continued the ritual, a portal to the Human World began to materialize. The boundaries between realms blurred, and a kaleidoscope of colors danced around them, weaving a tapestry of magic that transcended the confines of the egg keep.

The eggs, cradled in their trembling hands, pulsed with an otherworldly radiance, levitating into the air as if drawn by an invisible force. The portal widened, revealing glimpses of a bustling world beyond – towering skyscrapers scraping the clouds, neon signs painting the night sky in vibrant hues, and the cacophony of a million human voices weaving a tapestry of urban life.

The transition was seamless, yet filled with an unsettling grace. One moment they stood bathed in the soft glow of the egg keep, the next they were swallowed by the shimmering maw of the portal, transported to a world that hummed with a different kind of magic.

Human World

They landed with a soft thud in a narrow alley, the acrid tang of exhaust fumes and damp concrete replacing the scent of ancient parchment. The bustling city thrummed around them, a symphony of honking horns, distant sirens, and the rhythmic click of hurried footsteps. Ana and Laura stumbled, disoriented, the stark contrast between the mystical realm and the urban landscape momentarily stealing their breath.

The adventure , however, was far from over. As Ana and Laura stood at the intersection of two worlds, the eggs in their possession became a beacon of untold possibilities. The cityscape stretched before them, concealing secrets waiting to be unraveled.

As the portal closed behind them, sealing off the mystical passage to the egg keep, Ana and Laura exchanged glances, a shared understanding that there was no turning back from this extraordinary venture. Their eyes wandered across the moonlit forest that enveloped them, its ancient secrets whispering in the gentle rustle of leaves.

The eggs, now dormant, hummed faintly in their hands, a tangible reminder of the extraordinary journey they had just undertaken. The crest, nestled in Ana's pocket, pulsed with a subtle thrum, hinting at its continued significance in their adventures. The city stretched before them, a maze of concrete and steel, its secrets waiting to be unraveled.

"I think we need to keep this from prying eyes," Ana suggested, her voice hushed, as if acknowledging the sacredness of their newfound surroundings.

"Yeah, sure," Laura replied, a smile playing on her lips. The weight of the recent events seemed to lift momentarily, replaced by a sense of amusement at the surreal nature of their situation.

Dragon aside, this was the place Laura had yearned to be since she first heard the tales. The stories, woven with threads of magic and wonder, had captivated her imagination. She could now stand in the very realm she had envisioned countless times, and yet, the unfolding reality surpassed any preconceived notions.

The moonlight cast enchanting shadows on the forest floor, creating a tapestry of light and darkness. The air was filled with an ancient energy, and as they ventured further into the woods, it was as if the very fabric of reality melded with the fantastical.

For Laura, staring into the heart of the forest was like confronting her fears and dreams simultaneously. The moonlit expanse seemed to echo with the whispers of untold mysteries, and each step deeper into the magical realm felt like a decisive embrace of the unknown.

As they ventured further, Ana's voice cut through the mystical ambiance, a question hanging in the air like a delicate thread. "Will we keep working forever?" she asked, a hint of weariness evident in her tone.

"Maybe," Laura replied shortly, her gaze fixed on the enchanting surroundings. There was a nudge of acknowledgment, an unspoken understanding that their journey in this mystical realm was both an exploration of the unknown and a testament to the resilience they carried within.

They continued walking through the moonlit forest, the trees whispering ancient secrets and the ground beneath their feet soft with the magic that permeated the air. The night unfolded its mysteries, and the two friends traversed the enchanted realm, leaving behind the echoes of their past and stepping into the uncharted territories of their new existence.

The moon began to wane, giving way to the subtle hues of predawn. As the first light of daybreak painted the sky, they found themselves in a glade bathed in the gentle glow of morning. The air shimmered with a newfound energy, and the world around them seemed to awaken in harmony with the rising sun.

Just then, a shadow detached itself from the wall, taking shape into a young man with messy raven hair and piercing emerald eyes. He chewed on something unseen, his gaze flicking over them with an air of nonchalant curiosity.

"Hey, human?" Laura called out, her words punctuating the serene ambiance.

The young man, Robin, swallowed his snack with a shrug. "Hey, monster!" he replied, a playful glint in his eyes. He scanned the items in their hands, his casual indifference masking a spark of fascination..

'Monster?' Laura thought, an uneasy feeling settling in the pit of her stomach.

"What are you doing here?" he asked, nonchalantly scanning the items in their hands.

"We're human, just like you. We're lost," Ana quickly explained, attempting to diffuse any tension that might arise.

As they stood in the midst of this unexpected encounter, the guy's impeccable sense of style struck them. His attire now revealed its nuances— a well-fitted blazer that complemented his lean frame, hinting at a sophistication that belied the ordinary surroundings.

"Lost, huh?" he mused, swallowing the last remnants of his snack. With a quick motion, he tossed the wrapper into a nearby bin. The enigmatic gleam in his emerald eyes seemed to dance with amusement. "that's quite a thing," he announced, a playful grin playing on his lips.

The realization that they were no longer in the magical realm, but instead facing a modern-day human, left Laura and Ana in a state of both disbelief and fascination. Jack gestured toward the structure on the left, which revealed itself as a small laboratory—a curious blend of technology and ingenuity.

"Where are we? " Ana once again asked, her eyes scanning the environment.

"Well, welcome to my small lab," he said with a mouth full of whatever, gesturing towards the small building on the left side.

Despite the worn-out surroundings, he seemed to stand out with an unexpected sense of style. His neatly styled hair complemented a well-fitted shirt and jeans, giving him an air of sophistication that defied the quaintness of the setting.

"Would've gotten a bigger one, but my father is never in support," he continued, a carefree smile gracing his lips. The ordinary suburban landscape stretched beyond the lab, the faint hum of distant traffic serving as a stark reminder of the world they had entered.

"Would you mind if I took a look at those things? They seem like relics from some ancient mythology waiting to unfold." His emerald eyes sparkled with a mischievous curiosity, hinting at a personality far from ordinary.

Ana glanced at Laura, their silent exchange conveying a mutual request for guidance on whether to trust this stranger.

"No," they both chorused simultaneously, eliciting a scoff from Robin.

"Yeah, I get it," he said, gulping on his own spit and squeezing his forehead. "We literally just met. I shouldn't expect you to trust me that much." He sniggered, adding, "Uhm, meet me; I'm Robin." He extended his hand for a handshake.

They both nodded, not accepting the handshake. "I'm Ana, and she's Laura."

"Huh, I should have thought you'll have a nice namez though," Robin gulped once again, his nervousness evident. "If I may show you around?" he asked with a little smile. With their agreement painted on their faces, they walked toward the building on their left side.

As they followed Robin towards his lab, the contrast between the magical realm and the human world pressed in on them. The hum of distant traffic replaced the whisper of ancient magic, the smell of exhaust fumes masked the musky scent of old parchment. Yet, a spark of excitement flickered in their eyes.

Entering, they scanned the room. The lab was huge enough to be called small, and a human skeleton stood at the entrance. Jack, a young black man in a white coat, sat at the center, eyes scanning chemicals he was filtering.

"We've got a company, Jack." Robin announced.

Jack turned slowly, removing the protective glasses that shielded his eyes from the scientific endeavor before him. A warm smile adorned his face as he greeted, "You got a better guest today." His eyes, initially reflecting genuine happiness, shifted to their hands, where the eggs rested.

A sudden change overcame him, his expression morphing into one of disbelief and fear. "No fucking way!" he exclaimed, his voice now tinged with an anxious edge, and he instinctively covered his face, as if shielding himself from an unforeseen revelation.
