章 49: 49 (Lola & Apollo)

Lola stood outside the bar anxiously waiting for Apollo to walk out. The police had been called and Rogen was dragged to jail. The staff was told to go home but she needed to find out what happened and if she still had her job.
"Here." Luke hands her coffee. Lola smiles at her ex lover but doesn't say anything as she takes the coffee from him.
Apollo was finally out of the office and he was pissed. He had been ready to throw hands with this guy if he continued to be argumentative. He stepped out of the office and instantly saw Lola waiting for him outside. His face visibly softened when he saw her drinking coffee.
"Lola?" he asks as he walks over to her. He doesnt need to be told the full situation of what just happened by the police to know that these girls were being used for their bodies by the creep.
"I wanted to thank you."
Apollo smiled at her softly as he looked down at her. He had a feeling that she had expected him to react differently and just walk away. He liked the fact that she was able to see beyond the way his relationship with Megan was.
"There's no need to thank me." he said as he lightly touched her shoulder. "I was just doing what any decent person would do."
"I had no idea you were decent." Lola said making Luke laugh. Lola glares at him.
"Uh...I'll go...see you later Lola." Luke waits for her response but she remains silent.
He sighs and walks away. Lola turns to Apollo, "I wasn't meaning that in a mean way."
Apollo couldnt help but laugh a bit at her comment. He was glad that she wasnt totally against the idea of him being a good person. Luke's laugh only made his chuckle a bit louder and he couldnt help but smile at it.
"I know you weren't" he said with a laugh. "Besides, if you thought I was a jerk why would you be sitting here waiting for me?" he added with a teasing tone.
"To ask if we all still have our jobs."
Apollo smiled softly at her. It was apparent that she cared about the other women that worked for this place. It was clear that what the manager had been doing hit way deep with her.
"Dont worry, if the owner doesn't fire you guys then I'll personally make sure you all stay." he said with confidence.
Lola smiles brushing away stray hair from her face, "Thank you again." Her blue eyes stare into His, "I shouldn't have judged you so much."
Apollo laughed at her comment again. He couldnt help but feel happy with how this conversation was going. She had gone from calling him a jerk to not judging him so much.
"It's no problem at all... and you dont have to thank me." he said. His eyes also lingered on hers for longer than he originally expected. They were such a nice shade of blue.
"Well, I should go, the buses here do not wait for anyone." She backs away from him, "See you around...maybe."
Apollo watched as she moved back from him. He didnt want her to leave yet, but he also couldnt think of a way to keep her here. As he watched her back away, a thought hit him and he took a chance.
"Before you go... can I ask you something?" he asked her.
She turns back, "Yeah." Lola waits patiently to hear what he had to say.
Apollo took a deep breath as he gathered the courage to ask her the question. It wasnt easy for him but he didnt wanna regret not asking. The way she was standing in front of him right now felt like a good time to go for it.
"Would you... be interested in grabbing coffee sometime with me?" he said, hoping not to come across as awkward or cheesy.
Lola raises a brow, "Are you serious right now?"
Apollo laughed a tiny bit. He wasnt sure if she was surprised he had asked it, or if she was surprised by the idea of it.
"Yeah, I'm serious. I thought maybe we could grab coffee together some time?" he said as he tried to give her a nice smile.
"You like my best friend." Lola reminded him.
Apollo froze for a moment as soon as she reminded him. She was right, he did have a crush on her best friend. He had felt he had had a chance with her but her words now had him reconsidering.
"I do..." he admitted, trying to think about what he really wanted from her. "But that doesn't mean I cant like you too. You're a nice and cool girl and-"
"I'll meet you for coffee and that's it." She hands him her phone, "Save your number." Lola thought Apollo was attractive plus he had helped her out so much. This is the least she could do.
Apollo was pretty surprised by her sudden acceptance of his offer. He thought for sure that she would've either denied or avoided the question altogether. But the fact that she accepted really caught him off guard.
He took her phone, saved his number and then gave her phone back to her. "Alright, I'll talk to you soon then." he said with a slight grin.

"It's just coffee...it's not like we'll get married."
Apollo laughed at her comment. She was clearly setting boundaries for herself on how far she was going to go with him. He had to admit, she was pretty damn blunt. But he actually liked it a lot.
"I mean... we could." he replied in a joking manner.
Lola rolls her eyes, "Yeah...no." She hits him playfully.
Apollo laughed a little bit. He was surprised at how her attitude towards him changed so quickly after he had asked her this question. It was kinda funny honestly.
"Yeah, I am just kidding. Just... coffee is perfectly fine by me." he said.

Apollo could feel a sense of satisfaction. For the first time in a while he had a sense of hope for himself. He had a date lined up for the first time in forever and a lot of other things seemed to be going his way too.
He took a sip of wine and thought about the future that was ahead of him. The thought of getting this date with Lola had him feeling a bit giddy inside.
He turns down the jazz music feeling at ease for the first time in forever. He could still hear the sound of the rain outside which added to his tranquility.
His peace is interrupted by a knock on the door, "Fuck...not when I'm getting comfortable!"
When he gets up reluctantly to get it he is suprised to see Megan soaked by the rain.
Apollo didnt expect to see Megan when he got to the door. Her being soaked by the rain worried him as he instantly grew concerned.
"Megan, what the hell are you doing out here?" he asked as soon as he opened the door, "You must be freezing!"
She moved closer getting on her tippy-toes and smashing her lips on his in a fiery kiss.
Apollo was not prepared for her to suddenly initiate a kiss with him. He froze for a few seconds and then finally decided to give in and kiss her back. Her warmth instantly covered him like a blanket, he couldnt help but hold onto her as strongly as he could while their lips intertwined.
