章 66: Liang Princess
After escaping the enormous structure in the Northern lands, Liang Mei went to lay low in a nearby abandoned house that is very far from the castle she was kep in. Although she was able to see black dressed individuals all around the place. If she is not wrong, those are the Japanese assassins.
She then went inside her own space and slowly nursed herself back to full health in only three days. She ate, slept and took some blood replenishing medications she had previously made as a way to practice her level of attainment in alchemy.
This process came to a conclusion when she could use her power without feeling fatigued. Flying towards the direction of the island, she couldn't shake a bad feeling. The place is being renovated but it is obvious the builders are under pressure because of the shortage of resources.
Liang Mei in her pursuit for total control stored all the resources inside her space. Many buildings are damaged by what seems to be thunder and fire. These buildings are melted, what kind of fire would melt the bricks off the wall like this?
When Liang Jie saw his daughter, he was relieved and then he becane angered by her absence.
Liang Mei didn't explain too many things and just left all the materials they will need for construction during this time and went into seclusion after talking to her mother.
Mrs. Liang's curse is still going strong. None of the people who used to flatter her and hang around her before can tolerate her as of late. Just before Liang Mei spent an hour in cultivation, her mother went into a coma.
She had to come out and take care of her but the cause of the coma is very mysterious. Liang Mei with her current medical knowledge couldn't find the source. She became desperate as time stretched on without being able to wake her mother because she can feel ther mother's spirit weakening.
Liang Mei thought of someone who can possibly help her. Amelia had once bosted to her for having a master to teach her things. Perhaps she can get this master to help cure her mother. And with her talent maybe that master can gain appreciation for her and even take her under his wing. That piss off Amelia.
She told her father to take care of her mother and flew towards Jiangkang base. Upon arrival, she became shocked. Although there is a barrier surrounding Jiangkang, the bustling city inside is hard to miss. The time is currently at night so she could see the various tall buildings especially the well organized overall structure of the city with many parts some of which consist of farmland and even a large fishing lake.
Liang Mei had done a great job with her island and she was previously very proud of that but seeing the work that Amelia has put in the enormous territory which is many times that of her own, made her click her tongue in annoyance.
Liang Mei calmed herself and remembered why she came here. Flying down she could see anyone in the several gates which suggests they are closed at night.
She slept inside her space after continuing the research on her mother's Illness. When she came out it was already day time. She went and spoke to the guard on the gate, the guard called and a few minutes later, Amelia came flying from another direction.
"Elder sister. How can I help?" Amelia asked with a smile. If the almighty princess Liang came to see her of all people, mother dearest must be dying.
She didn't hesitate to follow her younger sister who took her to a neat place that base members use when they are outside.
Amelia made herself tea but didn't offer any for her elder sister. "Will you start talking or you want to see me drink tea?"
"I need your master's help, my mother..." She didn't finish, Amelia stopped her.
"I'm sorry elder sister but my master ascended to the upper realms. His cultivation was too much for the world to handle. I only got a reminent of his spirit when I found his inheritance." Amelia said with a serious face.
"You're lying! Amelia I know you and my mom don't get along but please help me. I don't know what I'd do if something happened to her." Liang Mei softened her tone and practically begged Amelia.
Amelia is not moved in the slightest. She took out a truth stone, while she had it in her hand she spoke. "I am in the foundation establishment realm." The stone turned red.
"This is a truth stone. Red means a lie and blue means truth. My master is not in this world, he ascended to the upper realms because his cultivation was too much." The stone turned blue. She tossed it to her.
"Now that you know the truth, you may go." She continued drinking her tea.
"Amelia, look I am sorry for making things hard for you a while back." The stone turned red. Looking at the stone she sighed in exasperation.
"I don't need your apology Liang Mei, but I would like to know why. Why you wanted to kill me the second you layed eyes on me. We have never gotten along but it wasn't to the point where we want each other's lives." Amelia looked at her with obvious puzzlement.
Liang Mei didn't speak. This involves the secret of her rebirth. She can not tell anyone about it. Amelia knew why she wanted her dead but she hadn't done anything wrong in this life and Liang Mei just couldn't let go of the future past.
Amelia wanted Liang Mei to doubt herself, and it worked. Liang Mei is second guessing her choices now, especially after she knew Amelia is not the same person as before. She shouldn't have let her hatred cloud her judgment.
Now she even knows why Amelia is so hostile towards her mother. "I am sorry." Liang Mei said sincerely to Amelia and the stone turned blue.
"I don't need it. I want to know why? But even then, I can't help you with whatever you came here for."
"Amelia...please." She has tears on her face now. It is obvious she really cares about her mother.
"What is wrong anyways? Is she growing horns?" Amelia asked a stupid question with a straight face.
"What? No...what?!" Liang Mei found herself answering her even though the question is silly because the tone Amelia used had been serious.
"Then what seems to be the problem?" Amelia, not apologetic at all about her earlier comments asked again.
"She went into a coma. I can't find anything wrong with her at all." Liang Mei is agitated at this point.
Did you check her sea of consciousness?" Amelia asked but Liang Mei frowned.
"She is not a cultivator. Nor does she have a spirit root. What is happening over there?" Liang Mei kept hearing vehicles sounds.
"Cars need energy slips so they come here to fill them up. It's like a gas station. We have them in every base that has a customers for the cars in country. Of course the gas station also has a convenient store." Amelia was very happy she advertised the cars at that time and now she has even more income coming her way.
Energy slips can carry energy from crystal nucleus as well. This is what is used to recharge the hovering vehicles systems. There is a machine in the energy station that can fill up the slips using the crystal nuclei that people bring with them or buy at the station.
The convenient store has had attempted robberies many times but the security system of Jiangkang base is one of the best. After a while people stopped trying.
"You are selling those cars?" Liang Mei became surprised. She had seen the hovering vehicles before and since the central base in the past life had invented them she wasn't too surprised but when she heard it was Jiangkang base who has them in this life, she knew it has something to do with Amelia.
"Yeah. There is a catalog on line. You can even pay and have it delivered to your location. Cool right?" She asked with a toothy grin.
"Yes it's great. Now can you help me with my problem?"
"How about you bring her to one of my hospitals? There is a medical pot that can analyze everything wrong with a patient maybe it can diagnose her." Amelia offered, because Liang Mei doesn't have a choice she agrees.
"There is a payment of course." Amelia said with a wretched smile.
"What do you want?" Liang Mei raised her guard.
"A sampling of your famous enhancement fruit." Amelia extended her hand. She knew that Liang Mei can take it out with her mind.
"I am not carrying it with me." She said stepping back. That fruit is the only competitive advantage her army has compared to others.
"I know it is growing in your space and I also know it has mutated since you reached foundation establishment realm. Another one also started growing that can grant people abilities if they don't have a spirit root. Now you have three types of species that are mystical. Give them to me or I can show you a place where we sell coffins." The last sentence is said with a cold tone.
"How....how do you know all this?" She felt fear. These are not things that she has everr shared with anyone.
"I can read your mind. Haha I'm joking I have you followed." Amelia blinked innocently after saying this. Somehow Liang Mei knew she is telling lies.
"Did you do this to my mother so you can ..." She closed her eyes in pain.
"I am joking. I just know things. But I still don't know why you hate me so much." Amelia shook her head.
Liang Mei has thoughts swirling in her head. The more she thinks the more paranoid she became. "Did you have me kidnapped?"
"What? You were kidnapped?" The surprise is unmistakable.
"Didn't you say you had me followed?"
"I wasn't being serious. Look I met an Oracle and she told me that you would have something like this. That is how I knew not to go home at that time, she said that I wasn't ready and that someone was going to hurt me badly." Amelia lied with a straight face, seeing Amelia looking at her with obvious accusations she stopped asking.
"Are going to give me the samplings or not? Is mommy's life not even worth this much?" Amelia blinked in surprise.
"That's not it. You said the Oracle said not to go home at that time, what else did she say?" Liang Mei looked outside to hide the turmoil in her eyes.
"The zombies are only the beginning." Amelia rolled her eyes.
"I wasn't going to listen to her until she said your name. She told me to ask for each of the three saplings when you reach foundation establishment realm. Now that you want something from me, give it or else..." She said with a creepy smile.
"So an Oracle helped you gain an inheritance?"
"No, that is another matter all together."
"So where is she now?"
"I don't know, she said resources will be plentiful and she will be exploring." Amelia lied again.
"If I give you the saplings you will help diagnose my mother?"
"No, I will get you a slot in the medical pot. I am not going anywhere near that woman." Amelia made a face.
"Here. You better keep your word." Threatened the heroine as she handed over the saplings.
The third sampling is what she is really after. It is a very valuable item if you are living in a futuristic era where waste is everywhere. It can not be eaten but Liang Mei in the novel discovered that this plant can eat anything and produce fruits that will carry properties of whatever it ate. It is a mutated plant.
It sounds ridiculous but she will make a fortune with this plant. If it eats a lot of metal waste, after taking it's fruits and plantting them it will produce a mineral vein if there is enough luck.
Liang Mei used this plant to make private energy stone mines along with spirit stone mines, metal ore that the empire did not know about since she was able to put up low level formations by that time.
"Whatever. It's not like you have a choice. If you did you wouldn't come to me." Amelia accepted the saplings with a smile. Completely glossing over the threat.
"Now get lost I need to get the slot in the medical chamber." Amelia dismissed Liang Mei who gritted her teeth and flew away.
"When she comes with a woman, have the shadows follow her every move." Amelia said to empty air and a ripple appeared in that location, then nothing else happened.
Over the years many of the regular soldiers in the mecha pilots department have built spirit bodies.
After a person has transformed their bodies into a spirit body they will begin to gather a new type of essence drops called origin essence drops.
These will take even longer than the previous essence drops to gather because they are made up of origion energy.
Those who have started gathering this type of energy are no longer simple mortals and their power can go against a late stage foundation establishment to early stage golden core formation depending of the levels.
The supernatural power will also have more variety in their powers, for instance the shadow super powers are no longer weak to light and they are able to create immortal shadow body and use them to spy or attack others.
If they turn their own bodies into shadow body they can not be killed. These are very strong in space battles with the outer space being surrounded by darkness. This is why Amelia made hundreds of thousands of shadow guardians.
Of course if one uses the right amount of light beam power, they can die.
When supernatural power users have built spirit bodies, they don't have to wear armor to be in space. In some cases the armor will slow them down instead. This is why even the initial cultivators were asked to grow a nucleus to build spirit bodies at a certain level.
Fire supernatural powers have the most davastating attack called the fire clone that can explode like a bomb taking out the enemy while the real person is a distance away. The number of clones depends on the level of power as well as the intensity of the flames.
The other base supernatural power users are in still awe of the ability to fly as they reach level ten. This is why Amelia had all of her soldiers hide their true strength and only practice against each other in the Island school which is secure and reinforced to withstand their power.
When the semester is over, soldiers who have reached level ten may start cultivation and join the school of cultivation so they will add to their power and be able to use the spiritual energy in their dentin to cast various spells instead of just the way of the ability.
This way the army has grown in power at an astonishing level but it is still controlled since they are not just focusing on a single goal. Amelia has made a ten thousand pages herbs manual to be compulsory for all soldiers. This is so they don't die from a simple plant poisoning in a deserted planet in the future.
Once the soldiers discovered the wonders of cultivation they get immersed in it. Some take up alchemy once they all learn that the beauty pills that can reverse time were made by the leader with alchemy skills.
Others join the technology department so they can manufacture cool weapons and others want to make the armor. Many have taken to incorporating runes into their weapons and armor. Typical soldiers focus on increasing their power.
The base has settled down and gotten in a system that members have adopted to. As of late, Amelia has been playing outer space with the new set of spaceships. What surprised Amelia is Blake's familiarity with the operation system for spaceship piloting.
The base now has 13 small spaceships and 6 war ships that have mass destruction light beams and state of the art shield that can protect against an all out attack from Blake.
That was an eye opener by the way, Blake's power is astonishing. The production of spaceships have now become a straight line production system so it will take less time to make more. Especially with the abundance of the special metal that is mined in the Southeast base and the purple material found all over the island. When these two are mixed together with the shapeless material from earlier, a new indestructible metal comes out.
Amelia used the space rings to store athe spaceships so there is enough space to newly produced spaceships in the factory warehouse. They take the ones stored in the space artifacts to be tested and if they are functioning well to be places on the side.
The spaceships are made using this mixed material. The new generation of armor is also made from it. Those with a spirit body can qualify to use them, they carry more energy power which reduces the need for recharging in the mist of battle.
Then there is a newly produced armor which is operated by sending out one's own power to the runes which have been sculpted in the body. They pack a much more powerful attack than regular armors. They require precise use of mental power. There is a requirement to have a mental strength of S+ to qualify as a pilot for the rune mecha.
Blake became enraptured with this mecha and locked himself for half a year inside his lab to create a mecha that is perfect for him. This is probably why he chose the creation of artifacts as his elective.
Amelia now spends her time learning the system of making the spaceships, the weapons system and the entire technological theories behind it all so that she can add to her knowledge.
Amelia can make a flying boat as an artifact master, she can make it but technology is a new concept for her. When she is not learning about these she is in the library adding on her already existing knowledge from her master.
Blake loves creating weapons. The kind that will have magic attack such as a flaming sword or an ice whip. The runes require the wielder to infuse their power and they will light up producing whatever effect is needed.
The most common artifact in the base is the knives with a sharpness rune. It can even cut open the new material ore if it is made by a high level master. Amelia allowed the students to sell their own created artifacts to the residents dor now. In the future, these flaming swords and shadow whips will be sold to the public.
The animals are about to mutate again and when that happens, these weapons will be worth more than currently. Amelia had told this to her students and since they are not too much in need of money currently, they agreed to wait. It wont be long now.
The Jiangkang base is operating on its own set of rules. The people from outside are only aware of the fancy cars and the barrier.
They have no idea of the many secrets from within since the shadow guards got rid of all the spies. They were just expelled from the base, not killed.
Liang Mei came back and was allowed entry into the base. She is with the father and a few strong looking people while they used a helicopter to transport Mrs. Liang.
If it had been before they were hovering ambulances, people would have been in awe of the person still in possession of a helicopter.
When the helicopter parked outside the barrier and Liang Mei pushed a hospital bed towards the gate, Liang Jie was astonished by the place.
He had seen the flying cars but they are many near this place and even though they are no cars inside, there are horses.
Strong looking and very fast horses. There are very few carriages but an ambulance came to get them in the gate and it drove back in the tar roads making that sound prompting the people traveling on the road to make way. Hovering is forbidden inside the city even for ambulances.
The air is fresh inside, the many zombie animals in the forests have been eliminated and a device that makes the air fresh was developed by a cultivator a while back.
The place has road, grass and strong looking trees that do not seem like mutated trees. Of course Amelia had them clean the place up and plant green moss everywhere.
She then took out the trees from her space mountains to be planted all over the base's open space where stone tables and chairs are built on the side of the road.
There are people cleaning the place and trimming the trees. Others are seated under the trees having small talk.
The hospital with the best equipment is in the high end communities where the original hospital was along with the 9 districts.
It took a while for them to get there. All along the way they saw people none of who seem to have a hard life. They are all wearing good clothes, their skin is good and their weight doesn't seem like they are struggling to find food at all. Infact most of them seem chubby.
Upon entry they saw tall buildings with beautiful sky scrapers with many having floor to ceiling windows. They used the line that goes directly to the inner base. It not as bustling as the outside in the inner base. But is is still very lively.
People are on their smart bracelets surfing the internet and taking with friends while others are working in the market. The place is beautifully constructed that Liang Mei decided to take the design for her own base.
"This place is really magical. Do you actually know the one in charge?" Liang Jie asked his daughter who smiled sarcastically.
"The one incharge here is your good daughter Amelia. How is it? Do you regret letting mom bully her all those years ago?"
Upon hearing what Mei said, Liang Jie felt like he is struck by lightning. Amelia really did something like this? Unbelievable!
"We're here." The driver said and got out to help with the stretcher. Liang Mei didn't want any one touching her sleeping mother. The man just moved to the side and let her go inside.
"Then where is she now? Is she not going to come out?"
"Haha..she said she doesn't want to see our family of three. Do you not believe me?" She took out her smart bracelet and called Amelia. She had gotten her number from the Wei brothers.
Liang Jie saw that even little kids had the smart bracelet that he can not afford. Does this mean he is poorer than children from this place?
"Hello." Secretary Cheng who is responsible for Amelia's calls answered. His professionally dressed form and a clean handsome face showed up on the bracelet.
"Who are you? Where is Amelia?" Liang Mei asked the man in a bad mood.
"I am her secretary responsible for checking whether the calls are important enough to pass on to her. May I inquire what your call is about?" Liang Mei got angry and shouted.
"I am her sister, this is my and Amelia's father. We are outside the hospital and we want to talk to her in person."
"My apologies leader has informed me that she is an orphan and has no siblings. You must be those people who are in love with her aren't you? Sigh....please don't call again or I will pull your number into the black list." The secretary turned off the call.
"Need I say more?" Liang Mei is in a very bad mood. She went inside and managed to get a medical pot.
"Something is eating her mental power. It must be some sort of sinister bug."
"An invisible mental power eating parasite? It sounds far fetched."
"We have never seen something like this before."
"Call the alchemy students."
"Right away."
The father daughter pair stood there listening to the doctors discussing the patient with fever and became lost. Parasite? Liang Mei came forward.
"Good you came, can you tell me where do you live? Perhaps it may help us identify the problem."
They spent a long time but no one came up with a solution. Liang Mei asked to be taken to Amelia but the nurses looked at her like she is crazy.
"Call her for me or I will kill each and everyone of you." Liang Mei spoke through clenched teeth her eyes bloodshot but as soon as she spoke, a group of shadow and space guardians with level 10 and above materialized.
The amount of pressure they exude made the experienced Liang Mei realize at a glance that they are all above level ten which is very powerful even for herself while she has been unable to advance due to captivity.
"Miss, please make your way out." The leader of these people stepped out right in front of Liang Mei and made a gesture for her to go out.
"No, wait. Just call Amelia, I know she can cure my mother please." Liang Mei wanted to cry now. She is really tired. She was kidnapped and no one came for her, she is alone and her parents are all that she has in this world and if she lost her mother....
"Leave us." Amelia's voice came from the doorway. She is walking with a group of students who are wearing similar hanfu traditional dresses. They are school uniforms for the cultivation school. They differ in color according to levels.
"Go back and review the principles of healing spirit herbs in the 18th file."
"Yes leader."
The students answered her with one voice respectfully and turned around leaving only Blake who is a small distance from her watching the people in front of him with vigilance. He can tell the woman is her sister and she is at late stage foundation establishment realm.
Amelia is wearing a light hanfu dress with lillies on the outer lace fabric. Her hair accessory is tasteful and girly. Seeing her dear father, her cherry lips parted with a small smile.
"Amelia." Liang Jie didn't know what to say to this daughter of his.
"Please save my mother." Liang Mei hurriedly said.
"Oh?..." Amelia raised her eyebrows playfully. "My consultation price is quite stip." She said with a laugh.
