The Editor's POV

章 1: Prologue

"How are villains born?"

A kid with a grotesque face and revolting physical appearance trembled while protecting himself against the barrage of kicks surrounding him, followed by endless curses that pierced his heart.

"Why do they murder a lot of helpless and innocent people?"

A pleading cry resonated in a dark alley as she was kneeling on the ground in a pitiful state. A shadow soon towered over her, and with its single motion, her world turned upside down.

"Do they only exist to become the stepping stone of a hero?"

Soon, someone saw his actions and, without further ado, made his verdict to punish the murderer. People saw his heroic action and clapped, praising him nonstop, seemingly ignoring a headless woman's corpse.

"In the world where humans could attain the power to change their fate…"

From afar, the kid saw the incident and was confused. He was so engrossed that he ignored the pain. When suddenly and unknowingly, his pitch-black eyes shone with a dark light, coming from an understanding…

"From being weak to powerful…"

As a result, alteration occurred all over his body. No one noticed, not even the people who continuously kicked him and cursed him, instilling the same level of pain.

"From being a hero to villain…"

He just met that woman a second ago, when he saved her from a sharp object flying towards her. Yet, when he collided with her body, he was slapped and thrown away, screaming that the demon physically harassed her.

"From the candlelight being extinguished from the monstrous realization of wind…"

His previous hideous face and deformed body were recovering at a rapid rate as dark gasses permeated from his body. The people slowly saw it and were horrified. Before they could scream, the dark gasses thickened and swallowed them all.

"The world will welcome the strong…"

The conspicuous event was noticed quickly by everyone, especially the man who killed the murderer. He shouted heroically, gaining the people's encouragement and support. He then swiftly leaped to punish another evil.

"Where the equilibrium between good and evil will be broken from a single individual."

However, the hero failed as the dark gasses devoured him. The people were stunned, then horrified, as they finally moved and escaped while shouting to save their lives.

"And that single individual alone could decide what is justice."

Silence ensued. The kid gasped for breath as the dark gasses slowly covered the whole slum, thinning the sunlight in the place. Unknowingly, his shadow quivered, and a person suddenly sprang out.

"After each ideology is formed and shaped, only the recognized could create their own church."

"Morality or bullshit is determined by the masses."

"Good and Evil. Light and Darkness can be damned."

"In the mind of an individual, only their conviction is true."

"Even light can be their darkness, and their darkness can be their light."

"However, me? I will just be a shadow. I cling to the light to survive, as I detest the darkness to have the ability to kill me."

"But, I wonder…"

The kid finally recognized a voice speaking in front of him, snapping him awake. He looked above and saw… his shadow? That soon materialized its own physical appearance, and he was taken aback by his handsome and emotionless face.

"What is light and darkness?" He heard him continue saying.

Then, he extended his hand.

"Can you decide for me?"
