章 22: Chapter 22: You Will All Fall into Hell

"You," David said plainly. These two simple words momentarily stunned Robert. Yes, Robert realized that he was probably among the people David disliked. After all, it had been Robert himself who had been knocking on the door earlier.

"You look too ugly right now," David spoke softly, "I don't like it."

At that moment, Robert's appearance was anything but human. His disheveled, greasy black hair was matted with blood and brain matter, giving off a foul stench. His face was crazed as he chewed on the meat, surrounded by a corpse banquet, red and white fluids flowing around him. In this setting, he looked more like a cultist than a human being.

Robert fell silent for a while before saying, "Don't worry, I'll soon be dead. This hammer, I'll let it disappear from this world along with me."

"It doesn't matter," David replied, feeling bored. Standing up, he added, "Hurry up and die after you finish eating," and then he left.

Although initially, the sight of William's body had given him a sense of thrill, David soon found it dull. The world was sick, mad, and perhaps even he himself was becoming abnormal.

David lay on his bed, staring at the ceiling, until a voice in his head announced, "Today's sign-in reward: House Space Expansion *1."

David was perplexed. Another house space expansion? Did the sign-in system intend to turn his house into a kingdom? He didn't need so much space at the moment. He desired an item that would ensure his safety even if the building collapsed.

Deciding not to use the space expansion, David lay on his bed, planning to think about it after waking up. Thus, he drifted off to sleep. Before sleeping, he had turned the monitor to silent mode, so he wouldn't hear if anyone knocked on his door.

Robert, who had wanted to say something to David, found no response from inside and realized David had left. The roast goose in front of him suddenly didn't seem appetizing anymore. In fact, it became nauseating.

With a self-mocking laugh that turned into hysterical laughter, Robert returned to his home. He looked at the familiar setting, now missing two people. His wife had died shortly after the apocalypse began, frozen to death, and his child had starved to death the day before. The food at home was gone, and Robert knew no one would pity him enough to give him food.

Sitting on the sofa in his home, he zoned out for a long time. He opened the window to the cold wind and hail, feeling the pain as they hit him.

"You will all die," Robert said softly, gazing into the dark abyss below. "I'll be waiting for you down there."

He threw the deadly hammer out of the window, followed by himself. After an unknown duration, a thud was heard from below, and his body was gradually buried under the falling hail. In this world of despair, no one would care about his death.

The next day, David woke up at around 8:30, feeling refreshed after about eight hours of sleep. His first action was to check the surveillance to ensure nothing significant had happened. After using the bathroom and washing his face, he went to the living room.

He decided to use the space expansion, and the next moment, his house gained an additional 100 square meters.

Originally about 150 square meters, his house now felt like a large flat. However, the decor and proportions were off, with the expansion adding mostly to the living room, making it excessively spacious. David thought it would at least make running more comfortable.

Planning to eat breakfast, David noticed more people arriving at his door. The visitors were shocked to see William's gruesome corpse.

"Robert is missing, William is dead," Jones announced among the crowd, standing a safe distance from David's potential shooting range. He cursed Robert for leaving windows and doors open, accusing him of wanting to freeze everyone to death.

Someone else suggested, "Maybe it's someone else's doing... Yes, it must be that damned David. He must have killed Robert last night and did this to William!"

"So, David is our common enemy!" Jones quickly seized the opportunity to direct everyone's anger towards David, claiming that everything could be blamed on him.

"Wait until Charles arrives, he'll break down this door," Jones declared loudly. "Just so you know, Samuel told me last night that Charles has a 'big gun'."

Hearing about the 'big gun', the crowd grew excited, believing that no door could withstand a more powerful weapon than the hammer.

However, David thought differently. To him, the so-called 'big gun' was likely just some rudimentary explosives, possibly a grenade at best. He doubted Charles could get his hands on any serious military firepower. Besides, by the time Charles arrived, who knew how much time would have passed.

"What about this mess?" they pondered, looking at the pile that was William at David's door. "Let's clean it up. Although it disgusts David, what if Charles sees this revolting sight when he arrives?"

Even though the liquid at the door had frozen, it was still extremely disgusting. "What about William's daughter?" Jones pondered. "Poor kid, now without parents."

"Mr. Jones... are you thinking of...?"

"Sigh, let's take her to my place," Jones said. "Even though I don't have any food left, children are our future. Even if I have to starve, the child must survive."
