章 2636: Chapter 1851: Madman's Journey (Twenty-Seven)_2

Could the two viruses conflict with one another, causing both to lose their vitality?

Thinking of this, Zombie Spider-Man felt a glimmer of hope. He endured extreme pain as he crawled off the bed, and moved next to the phone beside his bed, dialing Nick's number. He told him his findings.

In a short while, Nick arrived but did not open the door to the quarantine room. Zombie Spider-Man also carefully avoided getting too close to the people outside the door. Through the window of the room, he called out, "Nick, I can feel that I'm getting better, I swear. Please believe me, no one wants to save you more than I do. We must try this, no matter what!"

Standing outside, Nick took a deep breath. He didn't fully trust these outsiders, but he really had no other choice. Coulson—who had gone mad just now—attacked two medical staff and infected them. S.H.I.E.L.D was losing more and more people, and if they continued like this, they would be wiped out.

What made Nick feel more urgent was that the superheroes, who had now all transformed into zombies, were fighting among themselves. They hadn't remembered him so far, but they would soon.

After leaving Zombie Spider-Man's room, Nick made a significant decision. He told his remaining assistant, "Take Natasha, Coulson, and Hawkeye to the safe house of my Secret Base No.56, and inject them with the virus they currently don't have in their bodies."

"Leave the activation key with Zombie Spider-Man. Tell him that if he hears news of the S.H.I.E.L.D Director becoming a zombie, he should seek refuge at the secret base. If his method works, they may be the only survivors left."

"There's one last Sky Carrier in the secret base. If they still have their reasoning, they should try to leave Earth, create a cure, and then come back. Go now."

Zombie Spider-Man spent three days of despair in the quarantine room until the agonizing pain, which seemed to seep from within his bones, finally lessened on the evening of the third day.

But what brought a surprise to Zombie Spider-Man was that his hunger had also disappeared. His previous fatigue and pain had completely vanished—it was as though he had been reborn.

However, the news saddened him. First, New York was completely overrun – almost all the citizens were infected with the zombie virus.

Secondly, Director Nick Fury of S.H.I.E.L.D had become a zombie and was now spreading the virus together with The Avengers who had also become zombie superheroes.

Thirdly, the superheroes who had come from Zombie Spider-Man's world were released, and they had formed a new alliance, searching for survivors across the city.

Zombie Spider-Man had already received the key left behind by Nick. On the fifth day, when his physical condition finally improved, he arrived at Nick's secret base.

For the first time in a long time, he received some genuinely good news: the three agents who had been lying in the life-support capsules had regained consciousness and, like him, they were all better.

This proved that Zombie Spider-Man's conjecture was correct. The second variant of the virus could potentially be the antidote to the first, and after the two conflicting viruses were injected, all the infection symptoms were eliminated.

But now they faced a new dilemma. The situation outside the secret base was changing rapidly. By the time everyone recovered and stepped outside again, World War had broken out.

People who were infected with the first virus known as the red virus, which was the same as the one Zombie Spider-Man had, were dubbed as Red Zombies, and those infected with the second virus were called Green Zombies. The two sides fought for food, eventually escalating into a protracted global war.

This scenario was even more despairing than a one-type zombie virus outbreak for Spider-Man because these zombies had already started to prepare nuclear missile silos, getting ready to annihilate the opposing side completely.

Having already found a way to completely solve the zombie virus, Zombie Spider-Man wasn't willing to give up just yet. If they surrendered this time, nobody would know whether there would be another round with this obscure second type of virus.

He didn't have another chance. Zombie Spider-Man thought, this time was the end, and they could only win, not lose.

And so, Zombie Spider-Man led the three surviving agents into this prolonged world war.

Because neither faction was entirely like the mindless zombies normally seen in movies, who only seemed interested in biting people frenziedly, they retained their intelligence after becoming zombies and were only occasionally driven by hunger.

Therefore, this war was not that different from wars between humans. The zombies didn't use their teeth and claws; they used deadly weapons instead.

The superheroes from Zombie Spider-Man's universe were all infected with the red virus, while the superheroes from this universe, because of a previous fight with a hound infected by the Green Hulk, were all infected with the green virus.

In other words, each side had an Avengers team, scientists, and weapons experts. The scale of the war was apocalyptic.

Zombie Spider-Man led the three agents on a continuous search for usable chemical lab equipment, separately extracting samples of the two viruses, and looking for opportunities to inject ordinary people.

To ensure that regular people who were injected with another kind of virus could withstand the painful recovery period, Zombie Spider-Man started from scratch, building a post-apocalyptic base, setting up a medical system, and defending against zombie invasions.

Spider-Man was like a seed thrown into the dark purgatory, flames burning his shell, darkness burying his roots, but nothing could stop his efforts to grow towards the light above after spotting it.

Fighting off all enemies who dared to attack the base, turning around crisis situations, defeating every superhero who tried to stop him—he keep striving for victory, victory, always marching towards victory.

Finally, the fully armed soldiers of the regular army advanced. The zombies fled in disorder, the white, symbolizing healing and purity, washed away all the green and red on the map. Humans had driven out the zombies and reclaimed planet Earth.

During this process, fighting against all obstacles with hope and small victories piled up into great ones. The war, which was supposed to be an evil cause of destruction, became a catharsis under the name of justice and salvation.

All the frustration and disappointment gathered from countless reincarnations were swept away like dust in the wind, with the victorious outcome of each battle, just like Batman from another universe experienced in wars.

The raging waves of war washed over every tiny circuit in the heart, the smoky battlefield carved a highway in the heart, moving from love to a sunset riddled with blood.

Once again, Spider-Man not only saved himself but also the world.
