The first-person point of view in the screen that held a knife walked slowly down a dark corridor, and when he climbed up a flight of stairs and pushed open a door at the end of the hallway, the scene suddenly became bright, illuminating the entire screen.
But when the initially dazzling light vanished, what appeared before everyone's eyes is nothing short of a bizarre spectacle of various monsters.
The room was divided into two by a huge poker table, against the left wall stood a very robust giant, drenched in mud from head to toe.
To his right was a similarly hulking, green-skinned monster, the upper body covered in cold-blooded animal spikes and sporting a crocodile-like gaping mouth.
In front of this terrifying Killer Croc, a fat man wearing a purplish-red pig head mask was casually stroking the poker cards around him. His white apron was stained with indelible dark blood, and he had a shiny kitchen knife tucked behind him.
Behind him, half of her body obscured, a black-haired woman sat in squalor, her body covered with fine threads. A creepy doll stood behind her, manipulated by her into making strange expressions.
At a lead on the right side of the table, there was a creature that was half-man, half-bat. With deep brown wrinkled skin, two large wings, and extremely sharp canine teeth that normal bats did not possess, it was sniffing around under the table with a bat-like snout for something.
Behind him on the couch, a man in a green suit was quivering all over, incessantly chanting something that seemed like a mathematical formula or theorem.
The right side of the couch had a bald man in a white coat, wearing a pair of round glasses that reflected a chilly tinge. Next to him leaning on the arm of the sofa was a man wearing a tattered sack on his head, who appeared as if he had just walked straight out of a farmland.
At the far end of the room stood a diminutive figure, dressed in a ridiculously bright green suit with a huge hat on his head. He held a cup engraved with intricate patterns, seemingly leisurely sipping his afternoon tea.
Near the back door, a woman with red and blue streaked hair and an exaggerate makeup, and a man full of ammo clips sitting at the table playing Spider Solitaire. Behind him, there was someone with a shark's head.
"Shit!"
Everyone who saw this picture couldn't help but utter the filthiest curse they could think of. Jarvis gently patted Wanda's shoulder, and then said, "Now I know what you mean by strange."
Wanda gently shook her head and said, "The strangeness is not just this. The little girl that made contact with me told me that these terrifying monsters are all die-hard superhero fans."
"What???"
"We aren't here to play cards and kill time, everyone. We need to come up with a good idea to reclaim our city, and more importantly, reclaim Batman. Are you all really content with him just abandoning his duties?"
"Easy for you to say, Hugo." The short man who was drinking tea removed the enormous hat from his head, twirled it in his hand twice, and scoffed, "Batman ran away like a coward, leaving us here. Naturally, we, uh, should destroy his city in revenge for what he's done to us!"
"Hugo, are you really thinking of siding with that idiotic woman, Amanda?" The man sitting next to him dressed like a scarecrow turned his head to look at the man addressed as Doctor Hugo, and said, "You know how stupid she is. She actually expects us to risk our lives for her?! I don't know how she managed to make it this far!"
"We don't have any other options." A deep voice that seemed to emanate from the mud echoed from the other side of the room. The gigantic mud monster opened his mouth and said, "The city is now as chaotic as if world war has broken out. And Batman actually abandoned his city at such a crucial moment. Even the Joker has no idea where he went."
"Correction: It's me who has no idea where Batman went." Harley Quinn glanced around the room and then spoke with lack of interest, "I couldn't even find the Joker. I have no clue where my dear cookie has gone to play. This is so annoying."
"We can't just burst out there empty-handed." The man full of ammo clips next to Harley Quinn said, "I'm well aware of the heavy firepower outside. The whole city is about to be leveled."
"Honestly, that might not be such a bad thing." Harley Quinn's eyes moved, "The head of the FBI has ill intentions, no doubt, but no one here is doing things for free. If she expects us to risk our lives for her, they should show some sincerity."
"Hugo, you still haven't said what exactly Amanda wants us to do?"
"Humph, there's nothing to say. It's the same old thing." Hugo adjusted his glasses and said, "She probably thinks that the chaos in Gotham is her once in a millennium chance to interfere with the city. She feels that her biggest obstacle is Wayne Enterprises, or perhaps it really is. She has never beaten Bruce Wayne."
The monsters all laughed in unison, each shrill laugh resounded as if the idea of these two being compared was an enormous joke. But they all soon quieted down, no one bothered to explain the punchline.
