Karyan was back to his room.
He paced around in circles, trying to think. He needed fresh air, so he decided to go to the garden.
In the garden, he heard raised voices. Reverie was there, and a maid was scolding her.
"You should know better!" the maid was saying. "You can't just do as you please!"
Karyan stepped closer. "What's going on here?"
The maid turned to him. "This is none of your business, lowborn. Stay out of this."
Reverie looked upset. "I didn't mean any harm. I just wanted to help with the flowers."
The maid scoffed. "Help? You've ruined them!"
Karyan smiled at Reverie and then faced the maid. "She was just trying to help. Maybe show her how to do it right next time?"
The maid looked at Karyan with disdain. "You think you can tell me what to do? You're nothing but a lowborn, a nobody."
Karyan laughed. "Maybe I am. But Reverie doesn't deserve to be yelled at."
The maid huffed and walked away.
