章 45: The Killer Butterfly

Karyan stood in the secret bar, a huge stage before him.

Candles flickered, casting warm light over the crowd. Magic dust sparkled in the air, but Karyan saw through the trick—they were just glitters.

Suddenly, the drums began to beat.

*brrum* *bruuum* *bruum* *bruum* *bruuum*

All the candles and lights snuffed out, plunging the room into complete darkness.

The music started, smooth and calm, yet it carried the intensity of a silent scream. Drums echoed throughout the space as anticipation built.

Then, she appeared.

The perfect shade of the light focused on her, revealing the dancer to the audience.

She had big blue faded eyes beneath thin eyebrows, but Karyan couldn't notice any pupils. As if her eyes were fake.

Her cheeks were chubby and round, and she had a nose small like a child's. Her lips were thick and full, glossy as if kissed by dew.

Long, thick eyelashes framed her eyes, which were highlighted with weird golden eyeshadow.

She had a delicate frame with thin bones, and her red top hugged her perfectly sized breasts.

The top had two silly long sleeves that fluttered as she moved.

Her belly was bare, revealing a slim waist that transitioned smoothly into her wide hips and full butt.

A see-through red skirt wrapped around her lower body, matching her top. Her small feet covered in yellow bracelets moved gracefully, and her delicate fingers held two daggers, glinting in the sparse light.

Her long, wavy pink hair seemed to dance with her.

As soon as she stepped into the light fully, a hush fell over the crowd.

She danced like a lost butterfly, her body moved with an elegance that seemed almost supernatural.

Karyan watched, mesmerized, as blue, pink, and golden butterflies seemed to emerge from her body, fluttering into the air, landing on people.

It was a miracle, a magic that Karyan couldn't understand.

The crowd gasped, their jaws dropping in awe. Whispers filled the room with disbelief and delight.

"Look at her move!" someone exclaimed.

"It's like a dream," another voice whispered.

The dancer twirled, the butterflies followed her every movement, adding to the spectacle of her performance.

Karyan felt a pull in his chest, a yearning mixed with wonder.

As the dance continued, the butterflies multiplied, their colors blended and swirled around the dancer.

The music and her movements were in perfect harmony, creating a show that was more than just a dance—it was an experience to another world.

Karyan couldn't tear his eyes away.

The rest of the room might as well have been empty for all he cared.

The dancer and her butterflies were the only thing that mattered. He realized that this was what he had been searching for, this moment of pure magic and beauty.

The performance reached its climax, and the dancer spun faster, the butterflies enveloped her in a whirlwind of color.

Then, as the last note of the music played, she stopped suddenly, poised and perfect.

The butterflies vanished as if they were never there.

The dance finished, and the room went still as stone.

People's faces were stuck, eyes wide with shock, rolled up.

Then darkness turned to danger.

The dancer soared up and landed on two men, quick as a shadow. Her daggers flashed, and their lives were taken immediately.

She moved like a ghost, from one person to the next.

Her smile was strange and cold, like she was in some dark fairy tale, taking lives without a second thought, one by one…

The sound of fear and falling bodies filled the air.

Karyan was frozen until he heard Sin's voice, sharp and clear, "Don't freeze."

His mind snapped back to the now. The dancer's eyes met his, and she came for him, a killer in a dance.

But Karyan was quicker.

His own golden eyes gleamed, and the dancer panicked, but it was too late for her to escape.

He caught her by the neck with his left hand, tight and sure. His right hand was Sera, hissing at her face.

"You've taken lots of lives tonight, good job," Karyan said, cold as ice, "but you can't have mine."

Her eyes changed back to normal, scared and human.

"Aghnnn!" Through gritted teeth, she fought to break free, but Karyan was too strong.

He let her go, and she hit the floor hard, trying to catch her breath.

"Yo-you!" She gasped, "what are you doing here?!"

Right away, Karyan grabbed her pink hair and started pulling her to the door.

"No! Let me go, you don't understand!"

She scraped across the floor, her body struggled against him…

"My hair, agh! My body!"

Karyan didn't look away from her once. Her face, once beautiful, was now just the face of a killer, painted with blood.

"Please! Please! I'm begging you!" She yelled, "you don't understand! Aaagh!"

Karyan didn't bother, "they will kill me! Please, release me and escape before they come!"

Her desperation finally reached Karyan's eyes. He let go of her hair and squatted down, "who are 'they' ?"

"They will kill both of us! You need to run!" She ordered him.

"Why would I run?" He asked, "I have nothing to be afraid of. And I won't go until you'll answer some questions."

Sin meowed like a cat and then attacked his leg, "the fuck are you doing?" Karyan glared at him.

"The girl is telling the truth! I sense a huge demonic power, a dark sorcerer is coming! We need to go!"

"Why would I run from a sorcerer?" Karyan asked, almost offended.

"Because the demon that he made a pact with is the-"

"Please," the girl pleaded, "I promise to answer all your questions, but you need to leave, now…" she begged.

"How can I trust that you tell me the truth, after all," Karyan looked around at these helpless and dead bodies, "you are a killer…a deceiver…"

"I couldn't deceive you, please! Save yourself! Go! I will find you tomorrow!"

Her blue-faded eyes were filled with water, she looked fragile and hurt right now, but Karyan knew that all women were the same, "I guess, there's no arguing now…fine!" He raised his voice and squatted up.

"If you won't, I will kill you."
