章 104: Strike The Gong

Song Zhuyu held her gaze firmly to convey his sincerity until it was Tan Jiahu who broke eye contact first, visibly flustered. "I–I will consider it."

"Of course," Song Zhuyu replied with a warm smile, not intending to press any further. Just the fact that she was going to contemplate his offer was already his win because at her current state, he was certain it wouldn't take long for her to fold. "Just know that my offer always stands, Mrs. Ma."

As they left the village vicinity, Song Zhuyu realized that they were heading toward the previous Chief's residence, and sure enough, the familiar house soon came into view. Instead of approaching the house, however, Tan Jiahu veered off the path and they walked for a few more minutes until they emerged into a clearing. 

Nestled amidst the thick foliage stood a lone gong – a weathered bronze disc that gleamed in the dim lights, suspended from a sturdy wooden frame.
