章 33: Excalibur (6)

<Third PoV>

"Ha-ha-ha, these following events are going to be fun." The fat priest, Valper stated. As he and Freed did a ritual using the Excaliburs they had collected thus far.

A pierced the evening dawn, illuminating the sky.

"Today is the happiest day I've ever been. As my hard work has finally come to fruition." Valper said.

At the Kuoh Academy. Sona and her peerage formed a protective barrier around the campus to defend against the incoming attacks from Kokabiel and his gang.

"Hopefully nothing drastic change would come, since this would be able to keep anything inside from getting destroyed." Sona sounded very worried, as this was the first time she would be defending her territory from someone very strong like Kokabiel a 10-winged fallen angel.

"Thank you, Sona. This means so much to me." Rias replied.

"Do know that if something big happens, the barrier will break. So I recommend you to finish the fight immediately." Sona reminded.

"By the way, any news from our exorcist guest, Xenovia?" Rias asked as they could use some help from her.

"I think Vile went to find her," Kiba replied.

"So that's why he's not here..." Rias, first wondered as to why Vile kept on disappearing and appearing anywhere, she also remembered how he could use light powers.

"I'll maintain this barrier up with my servants, so I won't be able to give you a backup," Sona stated as she continued. "Rias. It's not too late to ask for your brother's help."

"No. And also, didn't you already contacted your big sister?" Rias, as stubborn as she is doesn't want help from her brother, as the other nobles from the underworld might think that she is someone who only relies on the Great Satan.

"But with good reason... You know full well that your brother dotes on you. You know that he would immediately come and assist us the moment you contact him." Sona regardless of whether she doesn't like her sister to come. She had no choice as this situation might lead to a big war.

"There is no reason. I've already contacted Sirzechs." Rias' Queen, Akeno spoke up.

"How could you do that without asking for my permission first!?" Rias looked at her Queen.

"Rias, I know that you don't want to rely on your brother, but this situation that we are dealing with is way out of our league, we're dealing with a leader-class fallen angel here. And it's not someone we could take on." Akeno stated. If Vile were here he would complain as to why she forgot his 'POWER' even though she keeps chasing him.

"Fine." Rias gave up on arguing with her queen, as she couldn't undo what had already been done, and decided to focus on the important matter.

"Good. Sirzechs and Serafall will be coming in a few hours from now."

"Alright." Rias prepared all her peerage for battle.

'Partner, I think you should find that guy.' Ddraig spoke in Issei's head.

"I don't even know where he is," Issei said in a low voice on his hand.

.....

Meanwhile, Vile who finally found Xenovia decides to scare her for a bit.

Vile sent spears made out of light towards Xenovia, hitting the ground near her, wherein she immediately turned and finds the attacker.

Vile continued to send spears of light toward her, making her misunderstand that she was currently being attacked by Kokabiel.

Vile then went behind her and whispered in her ear. "Bo."

Which shook Xenovia, she dropped to the ground as she felt her legs weak from all the dodging.

"Ahhhh, YOU!" She glared at Vile who was playing tricks on her.

"Huehehe."

"Were you the one who's throwing those attacks!?" She complained. Which made Vile laugh even more.

"Why do you have time to play here? Shouldn't you help those devils?" Xenovia who was pouting asked Vile.

"They'll be fine. Kokabiel and his gang won't make a move. Not after that is done." Vile pointed at the light pillar from Freed and Valper ritual.

"What are they doing?" She curiously asked.

"I think they going to merge all the Excalibur they have collected into one." Vile answered as earlier he took a little peek at their ritual and gonna let them finish it so that he could ste-'borrow' okay? 'borrow' it later once it's finished.

"So what are you going to do?" Vile asked Xenovia who was on the ground tired, clutching her sword to stand up.

"I need to fight. I must... For our God, I need to punish those heretics." Xenovia said with conviction.

"..."

"For your God?" Vile asks.

"Yes. I'm willing to sacrifice myself as long as it's for our God." Xenovia states.

"Who is your god?" He asked again.

"The God in the Bible." She looked at Vile, who was giving her a look of pity.

"Alright? Why give so much of someone that much trust to a point that you would be willing to throw your life?"

"That..." Xenovia couldn't answer.

"Is it called blind faith?" Vile said as he tested his 'Spirit Whisper' on Xenovia. He knows how dedicated Xenovia was to their God.

If Xenovia wouldn't waver in her belief he would either wait for Kokabiel or himself to announce that God is already dead and their prayers are redirected to God but to someone else.

"..." Xenovia looked at Vile who was suddenly acting weird.

"Xenovia..." Vile came closer to her.

"Yes?"

"Do you want to know something that might shock you?" Vile whispered in her ears as he increased the 'Spirit Whisper' stings to 3.

"What is it?" Xenovia was starting to feel scared out of nowhere.

"What if I told you that your 'God' had already been killed during the Great War," Vile said.

"Uh-huh?" His words took Xenovia aback. "No thats, impossible!" She denied it.

"But Xenovia I'm afraid that that is a fact that is hidden by you. So tell me how could someone who religiously pray to the church every day and still haven't seen their God for a long time?" Vile wanted to give her a reason, to make her belief falter. Xenovia was his perfect subject to test this ability on her, as he remembered that she became a devil after Kokabiel gave her the news about God's death.

Because of that, he decided to give her a little help and prevent her from becoming a reincarnated devil slave as she was one his few friends in this world, though in Asia's case, he was slightly regretful of his negligence that caused her life and was forced to call on Rias to reincarnate her. Someone as nice and pure as Asia doesn't deserve to be a servant slave...

So he wanted to do a test run on how effective this 'Spirit Whisper' is in persuading people before using it against Kokabiel.

"But there is no way God would just show up in front of anyone." Xenovia was starting to heat up from frustration as she grabbed Vile's collar.

"Why? Why couldn't he?" Vile questioned her as he increased the strings to 5.

"That's because..." Xenovia was trying to answer his question but words wouldn't come out as her mind was a mess.

"Xenovia, Why do you think that people want to go towards God and pray whenever they're in trouble?" Vile gave her a question and sat next to her like the devil tempting his victim.

"Because God will help their troubles?" She answered.

"What about those who were forsaken, like Asia as you say back then? Did the biblical god help her?" Vile started to spout any shit he could think of and said it to Xenovia as he increased the strings to 7. The maximum strings he could use were 11.

"They...."

"Vile... Why are you doing this to me? Didn't you also pray religiously?" As she misunderstood Vile's 'prayer' back at the Vatican.

"Xenovia that time, I didn't pray to anyone." Well, he did but it was mostly making fun out of God. "I don't pray for God nor the betterment of other people. But solely for myself."

"..."

'*Sigh* I'm shit at persuading people.' Vile thought that his "persuading" took a lot of time and patience which wasn't in his alley.

Vile was now about to pull out the big guns. 'Aizen quotes from bleach', he could still remember in his middle school days. Back then it didn't work as the other kids just laughed at him. But now that was the beginning of his isolation from his peers. But now he can to an extent be unhinged as much as he could, because now. He has POWER.

Vile was starting to believe in the anime cringe quotes, as in this world strange shit tends to happen. Like how they fell in love with someone after someone saves them from whatever trouble they were in, tits jiggling after a slight step, and more shit. It's a world of Anime dang it!

"Xenovia. Do you why people gave their trust to God so much?" I asked her if he increased it to 9 strings.

"Yes..." She answered, trying her hardest to defend but for some reason, her voice couldn't come out, at the same time her belief was starting to break down.

"No. You don't get it. Trust is the same thing as reliance. It's a fault of cowards. So someone like me. I do not need such a weakness... Because all creatures must obey. No one can survive without trusting someone. Someone they feel is better, more worthy than themselves."

"God..." Xenovia muttered.

"To avoid that responsibility, those who are worthy look even higher, searching for more superior beings. And those superior beings do the same looking for even stronger than them. That they can believe in."

That Xenovia, is how kings are created. That is also..." Vile felt so cool at the same time. It could have been even more cooler if he had played Aizen's theme on his MP4.

"How gods are born..." Xenovia said it, as the string of her belief fell.

They were just there in silence for a few minutes. As Xenovia's mind was trying to figure herself up. Vile was still on cloud nine after his speech that he ripped off.

"So Vile... What am I gonna do now? The feeling that I am experiencing right now... I feel. So empty and without purpose." She asked.

"Follow the path you believe in." Vile was starting to spout bullshit yet again, he thought the experiment was successful as he removed the strings from spirit whisper.

"But that belief is already broken by you." She looked at him.

"..." Now that Vile thinks of it he hasn't thought that far of the outcome after she leaves her God.

"Then Vile, can you... Be my God?" Xenovia pledged her trust in Vile.

"Why?" Vile asks.

"Because you said it yourself, 'follow the path you believe in.' I believe that I can find my purpose if I follow you." Xenovia states.

"..." It made Vile speechless, as he didn't think that she would want to follow him.

"*Sigh* Suit yourself." But before he left, he thought to himself.

'You know what, I'll play God and show her a real miracle.' Vile came back to Xenovia.

"Do you believe in me?" He asked.

"Yes." She said it with conviction. The moment she said yes, Vile was now holding her heart out. As Xenovia lost her strength and dropped down.

"Now do you still trust your god?" Vile questioned her, but even if she were to say no he would still fix her regardless.

Xenovia still nodded. And to that. Butterflies started to cover all parts of her body.

As the butterflies left her body, Xenovia was shocked at how she was alive and is on in perfect condition. Which made her want to follow 'Vile' even more.

....
