Jaden remained silent for a while, before he finally asked, "Then, if you were that powerful, why was it that you waited until I came here, before you finally demonstrated the ability to destroy the entire gang?"

That's right. Jaden had realized that the old man did not need his help at all. In fact, the old man would not have been kidnapped in case he wanted. It was clear that the old man was the one that had allowed this gang to kidnap him.

But Jaden did not understand the purpose behind that. If you can resist being kidnapped, why allow yourself being kidnapped? Even if it was true that he did not want to show the ability, why show it right now?

To him, it did not make any sense at all. He was failing to understand the purpose of the old man, and why he had shown the ability that he possessed to Jaden.
