"Son!" the president exclaimed, pointing his cane in Natalie's direction. "Do you see with your own eyes the way your wife has been treating me? Can you stand your ground and defend such behavior?"

A speechless Alonso whose eyes not once left Natalie raised his hands in the air then dropped them to his side.

"Alonso," she swallowed, her throat burning from all the shouting she had with her father-in-law, "I know that this comes off as being disrespectful again, but it's beyond my capacity to hold it in!" She looked at her father-in-law who was glaring daggers at her, "Mr. Valois, you're using a young man's abandonment trauma to get rid of him."

Alonso's eyes darted between his wife and his father before settling on his father. "What trauma? What young man?"

"Daddy?" Gabriella breathed out from behind.
