Everything was messed up from every point of view. Even before coming to Royalty Pack, it seemed like Max was constantly fighting an uphill battle, always trying to catch a break but ending up with a raw deal.

By definition, he was slowly becoming used to disappointments.

It was like the straw that broke the camel's back — every setback pushing him closer to the edge. It kept happening, it was gradually becoming normal. It was like life was telling Max that he needed to learn to roll with the punches and to take each disappointment in stride.
