章 14: Chapter 13 - The Pilgrim
Matthew was taken back to desk by the 'help-desk-guy' for the paperwork of buying the 'Opel Insignia'. Which was not much, considering it was a black market dealership.
Matthew just had to provide some basic info like Name and Contact Information for the forged documents of the car like the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number). The 'help-desk-guy' said he would forge the documents including the registration papers on the spot.
Matthew pondered for a bit. He didn't trust the guy's forging skill and could have just given him fake details, but why bother, it's not like they can trace him, he is a ghost in this world. And his phone? Well, it's untraceable too.
So Matthew just told him his real name, which funnily enough the 'help-desk-guy' would have thought was a fake name, just like Sophie, but he just wasn't as smart as her.
So Matthew did the procedure for the car. Paid in full with cash, which was almost 10000 Alpenas! Suddenly he heard a familiar chime in his head. But this time Matthew was extremely surprised -

Matthew quickly hid his surprise and finished the paperwork. "Hey, Quirk, What are Notoriety Points?" he asked Quirk as he drove off in his new car.

'Oh! So its like those virtual currencies in games that can be purchased with real money and used to unlock exclusive content?'
[ Correct ]
Matthew had many questions - 'How did he randomly acquire NP?', 'What can you buy with them?' And although he had his guesses, it was not the right time to think about it. So he decided to focus on the task at hand.
Matthew didn't go home with the car, instead he headed to a hotel. In the hotel's car park, he rented a garaged unit for a few days and parked the car inside.
Matthew went to the back of the car and opened the trunk. It was empty, but Matthew wasn't surprised. 'It would have been too easy *sigh*'. Matthew closed the trunk and went back to the hotel for the night.

After waking up in the hotel, Matthew followed his usual morning routine of a long, hot shower, getting dressed, and grabbed a hearty breakfast from the hotel's dining area.
He then headed out to find a nearby hardware store to purchase the necessary tools for the task at hand. With his new tools in hand, Matthew returned to his car and began the process of carefully dismantling the trunk.
'Let's find out what you are hiding, Mr. Keller, shall we?' Matthew smirked. He then proceeded to remove the screws and bolts that held the bottom of the trunk in place. However, as he lifted the fake bottom his eyes widened in surprise.
Weapons. Cold weapons to be specific. Short swords, claws and throwing knives to be more specific. And to be even more specific, Oh boy were they heavy! And I mean really heavy! Matthew tried lifting one of the throwing knives and it weighed almost 20 kilos!
'So I already guessed it, NP are obtained if I perform some high profile and daring illegal deeds, huh? I and i guess -' *buzz* *buzz* Matthew's train of thought was suddenly broken by the buzzing of his phone. He picked it up -
"Hello?"
"Hey there, Matthew! It's Sophie, I've got some juicy information for you. How about we meet up in person to discuss the details?" came the cheerful voice on the other end," Also, I have figured out how to cash in that favour." she added playfully.
A sense of unease crept over Matthew, but his need won out. "Fine, where and when?"
"There's a little bar called 'The Pilgrim' near the waterfront. Meet me there in an hour. It's the perfect spot for some lighthearted 'discussion'" Sophie suggested mischievously.
Matthew hesitated for a moment 'Lighthearted my ass!' but agreed, "Alright, an hour it is. 'The Pilgrim' near the waterfront. See you there."
As the call ended, Matthew couldn't shake off the feeling that this meeting could unfold into something far more complex than he anticipated. He always thought he was pretty good at playing mind games but it never worked on Sophie when he tried. Instead he owed her a favour now. 'Well I was desperate.' he justified himself. 'The 'help-desk-guy' was pretty stupid, huh?'
Nevertheless, he got ready and headed towards the designated meeting spot, wondering how Sophie had found the information for his 'definitely-not-stolen' new Identity so quickly.

In the bar 'The Pilgrim' -
"Alright, an hour it is. 'The Pilgrim' near the waterfront. See you there."
Sophie pressed the hang up button on her phone and looked at the person sitting opposite from her on the table on the other side of the bar.
"Why did you call him here?" It was Angelina, she was sitting on the bartender's side, oddly enough.
"I wanna introduce Lyzzie to him. I feel like this guy will be a pretty good business also, I think he is rich enough to afford Lyzzie."
"But why have you brought me here?" Angelina asked, she could feel a familiar headache coming once again.
"Well shouldn't I show off my 'lover' to people so they won't mess with me?" Sophie said cheerfully.
Angelina didn't even bother to correct her this time. She already had too much on her mind and she didn't need - or had any more brain cells to waste on a pointless argument. So she just sighed as she took another sip of her drink. "Lyzzie, can you get me one more of whatever this is?"
An elegant man behind the counter who was just finished with a patron when he heard Angelina. The bartender, and perhaps the owner. He nodded at Angelina and sighed with pity. 'Looks like Soph is at it again.' "Here you go Lina," he passed a glass of Aperol Spritz to Angelina and busied himself with another patron.

Matthew's singing was interrupted by the taxi driver - "We are here." - he turned back said.
Matthew paid the man and walked towards the bar, but he was surprised for the second time.
