Ego, seeing that Zane had fallen right into his trap, had a faint smile in his eyes.
He knew that most of the energy in his attack came from the star behind him.

In Ego's eyes, Zane's attack, on the other hand, was entirely draining his own strength.
As time passed, Ego thought, he wouldn't need to do anything—Zane would just exhaust himself to death.
But what Ego didn't know was that Zane wasn't expending any energy at all and hadn't even used a shred of his divine power.
The beam from the S-rank skill [Son of Light] was entirely fueled by the infinite energy from his [Magic Furnace].
In fact, the Death power Zane had consumed earlier in battle was rapidly regenerating, thanks to the worship of countless souls in the [Realm of Dead].
Time flew by, and the two had been locked in this stalemate in the void for over three hours.
The star behind Ego, devoured by countless energy tendrils, had shrunk smaller and smaller, now barely the size of a regular satellite.

But he didn't give up on his attack, instead accelerating the rate at which he was absorbing the star's energy.
A sinister smile slowly crept across his face. This current attack was merely a setup for his next killing move.
If Zane didn't die from that, Ego might as well pull out his core and let Zane do whatever he wanted with it!
After several minutes, the energy of the star had been completely devoured by the energy tendrils extending from Ego.
As soon as the star was extinguished, the fire that had been continuously spewing from Ego's mouth abruptly stopped.
In that instant, the massive beam from Zane's skill [Son of Light], no longer blocked, tore through the void, scattering fragments of space along its path, and struck Ego right in the face.
After a brief moment of resistance, it blasted a gaping hole through Ego's forehead.
Then, under Zane's control, the beam shifted sideways, leaving a scorched trail across Ego's upper body, and aimed directly at his heart, where Ego's core was located!
However, under the dazzling light of [Son of Light], Zane failed to notice that, despite the hole in Ego's forehead, a sinister grin curled at the edge of Ego's lips.
Sensing the fatal threat to his core, Ego's ravaged upper body suddenly exploded into countless tendrils that tightly wrapped around his core, trying to fend off Zane's attack.
From space, Ego no longer resembled his once-dominant form.
Now, he looked more like a massive, bluish meatball.
Feeling the beam from [Son of Light] slowly but steadily penetrating his layers of defense, relentlessly advancing toward his core, Ego remained calm, channeling more celestial power to create additional energy tendrils to resist Zane's attack.
Even as his celestial power began to wane, he resolutely drew from the celestial power hidden within his core, the same source that resided in Star-Lord's body.
With the abundant supply of celestial power, the energy tendrils enveloping the surface of Ego's planet seemed to surge as if injected with steroids, rapidly growing in size.
In an instant, they halted the advance of Zane's beam from [Son of Light].
While Zane continued his relentless attack, several light-years away, the remnants of the star, now no larger than a football field, emitted an aura of utter destruction.
Suddenly, under the influence of celestial power, a special force field formed on the surface of Ego's energy tendrils, temporarily halting the collapse of the star's remnants.
Then, the energy tendrils, carrying the stabilized remains of the star, retracted at faster-than-light speed.
As Ego dragged the star away, the planets that had been orbiting it, now free from the star's gravitational pull, veered off course and drifted into the distant void.
In the near future, it's inevitable that many civilizations will suffer catastrophic damage due to these derailed planets.
Some civilizations that have not yet stepped beyond their home planets might even face total extinction from planetary collisions.
This is exactly why the "Judge" had strictly forbidden members of the Celestials from engaging in all-out battles recklessly.
Six-dimensional beings are far too powerful for this fragile universe.
Their sheer strength means that even the slightest action can determine the fate of an entire star system.
Just like Ego now—within a few short hours, he had destroyed a star.
And this was simply from absorbing energy, without launching a direct attack.
Had he attacked directly, it might have taken only a few minutes, or even seconds, to destroy a star.
The immense power of six-dimensional beings was undeniable.
On the mechanical planet tens of thousands of kilometers away, Lorna and the others were utterly dumbfounded.
They knew Zane was powerful, but they never imagined he could be this powerful.
