章 6: Meeting team 7 & beginning of the first mission.
(Sometime later)
Daiki and his team were standing in the Hokage's office waiting for the third to assign a mission to them.
" Hey, can you stop stalling and give me the mission already." Daiki says annoyed.
" Sigh, you're sure they are ready for this then?" The asked.
" Ready or not it's going to happen, better sooner than later, besides I will be there." Daiki responds.
" Fine, it's a C-rank mission in the land of fire, there seem to be some bandits attacking caravans bringing produce to the village regularly, currently the losses aren't much, but it still needs to be dealt with." The third says handing a paper to Daiki.
" Twenty members, no ninjas present in the group, and the main base isn't too far from the village, at most a three-hour travel, the twenty might be a bit much but it will do." Says Daiki as he looks over the paper.
" Alright, then team ten will accept this mission." Daiki says.
" Very well, you may leave."
Daiki and his team left the office and, began walking towards the gates of the village, and as they did they managed to meet up with some friends.
" Hey its Skikamaru, Ino and Choji." Naruto shouted and pointed towards Daiki and his group drawing the attention of the rest of his team.
Kakashi, Sakura, and Sasuke walked over to Naruto who had run in front of Daiki and his group.
" Oh. Well if it isn't the copy ninja himself." Daiki says.
" Well, it's still nothing compared to the professor, or is the light of the hidden leaf or are you going by something else these days I always hard to keep track." Kakashi responded.
" Jealous as always I see all of my nicknames are an acknowledgment of my strength, I guess when you're a jonin and can only use two jutsu before passing out people don't feel the need to give more than one nickname." Daiki responded as a bright smile appeared on his face.
While the two were greeting each other the genin of the two teams were also talking.
"What??!?!? You guys are going on a c-rank mission." Naruto questioned.
" Yeah, we are leaving the village now, this will be our first mission, what about you guys?" Ino asked.
" We've only been doing d-rank tasks like catching pets and painting gates." Sakura answered embarrassed.
Sasuke was silent listening, but the expression on his face revealed he wasn't happy.
' While I've been stuck doing d-rank tasks these three are about to leave the village, if things continue like this won't they surpass me?' Sasuke asked himself as his fist tightened.
" So what have you guys been doing since you graduated?" Sasuke asked.
" Huh? We have been training non-stop, we learned a lot in the last couple of days, I bet we were at least twice as strong as when we graduated." Choji says then immediately stuffs his mouth full of chips.
"Two times stronger?!?!" Naruto and Sasuke asked surprised.
" Choji exaggerated it, but we are stronger than when we graduated, just maybe not two times yet." Shikamaru says.
Sasuke still looked upset, even if it wasn't two times stronger the point was they were getting stronger and he wasn't.
" I have a fabulous idea, how about after we return from this mission, you six have a sparing match, it will allow you guys to see how you've grown since you graduated." Says Daiki.
" Great idea." Naruto agreed immediately.
" What about you two?" Kakashi asked Sasuke and Sakura.
" Fine." Sasuke agreed.
" Since Sasuke wants to." Sakura agreed.
" Great two days from now, training ground four same time, well see you guys, you too one eye."
"You to Dai- kun." Kakashi responded.
Daiki almost vomited hearing Kakashi, as he continued on his way, but he couldn't help but say.
" God I hate that guy."
" Daiki- sensei do you not like Kakashi?" Ino asked.
" Well..... its kind of complicated when I was younger and my talent started showing the person I was most compared to was Kakashi, so I went looking for him to compare one day, and let's just say I lost miserably, and he wouldn't let me live it down, so I kept trying and losing and trying until eventually, I won, but at that point, our relationship had already reached the point that even though we respected each other immensely we wouldn't show it directly." Says Daiki.
" Oh, so you guys are friends." Says Choji.
" I'd say more like rivals, even though he couldn't beat me the last twenty times we fought." Daiki says with a big smile appearing very happy.
' Daiki sensei has a silly side as well.' thinks Ino.
But little did they know there were two things Daiki didn't mention.
The first is that even though he won the last twenty fights they had he was still losing overall as the current score was 55:25 in favor of Kakashi, as most of their fights happened when he was much younger and now they are both very busy and haven't the time.
The second was even though Kakashi never let him live down his losses he, thinks Kakashi did that to humble him as he was very arrogant in his youth when his talent was being recognized, and he was very thankful to Kakashi for doing so.
With no more delays, the group walked out the village gate and towards their mission target.
The four walked in formation Choji took point Shikamaru and Ino covered the right and left and Daiki covered the rear.
As they walked Daiki spoke.
" Alright, you already know the mission, but there are some things the third didn't say which is left to me."
" They are, one is that these bandits have caused losses to the village no matter how small all twenty will be killed no survivors."
The three had already guessed this but hearing it from Daiki let it really sink in.
" The next thing is I won't be taking action unless absolutely necessary, Shilamaru will command the team and formulate whatever plan you all will use to complete the mission, and lastly you each must kill at least one bandit yourself." Says Daiki.
The three of their faces turned serious, taking in the seriousness of the situation and Daiki stayed silent leaving them only following behind.
