Back in LA
"Bye guys, " I said, hugging every friend I made at my summer job here.
I was sad. Sad. I loved being with them.
"Bye Ethan. We will miss you", they too said their goodbyes.
"If you need any help sometime in the future call me", I said with emotion in my voice.
"We will", Captain Holt said.
"I will miss you", I said my last words stepping into the elevator.
"We will too", they all said as the door closed.
I drove towards the airport. Emotions of sadness still lingering in my brain. I was sad to say my goodbyes to them. But I was happy to be able to see Haley again.
Maybe one day in the future I will move to Brooklyn.
I soon arrived at the airport and flew back towards Los Angeles.
Haley still didn't know when I would come back. It would be a surprise. Haley wrote her college applications while I was away. She got accepted into a decent college which is surprising due to her previous academic performance.
I didn't help her. She didn't want my help.
Today is two days before College starts.
We still have one problem.
Haleys College is near my house.
She wants to move in with me. I also want this.
But we haven't asked Claire yet.
Well. That is a problem for future me. Not present me.
The plane flew and time passed by quickly in my luxurious airplane.
After arriving in Los Angeles I drove back towards my house. It was as if I was never away from home. I hired professional caretakers to take care of my house. It seems that they were doing their job well.
I put the things I brought with me to New York back. There were also some things like the motorcycle I bought in New York, which were a new addition.
After putting all things into place I drove towards the Dunphys. It has been a while since I have last been here. It has been 8 weeks to be exact. I missed them. Not only Haley, but also Claire, Phil, Luke, Alex, and all the others.
They just have a special kind of charm on them. The same with the 99th precinct. They were special.
I walked towards the door and rang the doorbell.
The one who opened the door was none other than Phil.
"Hi Phil. What's up. How have you guys been doing while I was away?", I said greeting him.
"Hi, Ethan. Everything has been perfect for us. Even better than perfect. Haley has gotten accepted into College, as you know. It is like the 8th world wonder that she will go to college. Anyway, what did you do in New York? I heard you were working with the police. Was it exciting?", Phil was as enthusiastic as always. Phil will never change.
"That is good to hear. As for the police work in New York-", I said stopping at the police work. I thought back and remembered the good memories and the bad memories. Like killing Draco. Well, bad memory, but helping the others catch criminals was a good memory every single time. And we did that often.
"It was great. I made many new friends", I said to Phil in the end.
"That is good. Haley is upstairs if you are looking for her", Phil said stepping aside and letting me in.
"Thanks, Phil", I said my thanks and went upstairs.
I slowly opened the door to Haley's room and saw her sleeping.
I shortly thought about what prank to play on her.
I laid myself in bed next to her and pretended to sleep.
Patting her shoulders to let her wake up I waited for her to slowly open her eyes.
Haley was confused shortly after waking up every time. Her brain only starts like 10 to 15 seconds after waking up.
Soon she opened her eyes and looked at me.
"Ethan. Why did you wake me up?", she asked confused.
"The kids need a diaper change. It is your turn", I said to her trying to hold back my laugh.
"Okay", she said while standing up and walking towards the door.
Shortly before opening the door, her brain seemed to be getting active and she reacted.
"ETHAN?!", she shouted looking back.
"What are you doing here?", she said confusedly hugging me.
"I am back from New York. Did you miss me?", I asked her.
"Of course", she said kissing me.
After that, I talked with her about most of the things I have experienced. Of course not to mention some bad things like Draco and the like. I didn't want her to worry.
Shortly after Claire came into the room.
"Hey Ethan. I heard you're back from New York. Nice to meet you again", Claire said hugging me.
"Nice to meet you too Claire", I said hugging her back.
After that, I watched a movie with Haley and then went down to eat dinner with the Dunphys. They were curious to hear about the stories I experienced in New York. They never really went away from Los Angeles. Even if they did. It was only to similar climates, like Hawaii. Never to big cities or colder climates like New York.
They wanted to go to experience New York sometime themselves in the future.
I recommended them some places to go to if they went there in the future. And also recommended the 99th precinct to report to if something happened. Even if they weren't in the precinct's area of responsibility. When they mention my name they should still help them.
The reunion with the Dunphys was great. It was like I was never away from them.
It is like this every single time I visit them.
