章 78: Monsters in Midar Range

Sadly, the safe time as they get to call it did not last any longer, as monsters began to pour from the cliff side.

"Mountain Rats!" Ana yelled, gaining the attention of the two mages. Mountain Rats are rats that lived in the mountains, if one ignored their ginormous size, which is the size of a medium-sized dog. They usually reached the height of half a man's knee, with body length of about a man's knee to his leg.

While they are not the biggest rats around, they are still big enough to threaten them. Thankfully, they have the perfect person for the job.

"Flame Ground," the ground burnt as the rats screeched, their furs and legs burnt by the ground as they try to run the other way.

"Don't lose focus. Mountain Rats are a lot, but they are not that dangerous! The truly dangerous things are the monsters around here!" the miner warned them.

Hearing his words, they keep their guard's up, ready for the real monsters to show up. Sure enough, as the old man said, the first monster appear.

"Mountain Goblin!" Fiona call out. Mountain Goblins are goblins living in the mountain. Compared to the regular goblin living in the forest, they usually have rougher and harder skins, the result of grueling in the mountains for their entire life.

Ian cast Multi Arcane Shot, decimating the goblins and killing them all in one go. Of course, they did not put their guard down just yet. After all, there other monsters prowling on the mountains.

Sure enough, the real danger appeared.

"Golems!" Ian sounded out. Golems are creatures made out of stone, so they are very durable and hard to be harmed by regular weapons. Only blunt and strong weapons like hammers or makes, and magic could do harm on the creatures.

With this, the role of dealing with the golems are given to Ian. "Concentrate Arcane Shot," a modified and stronger Arcane Shot, it downside is it take him a longer time in casting it, as he need to make it strong enough to pierce the golem.

However, it is his best bet in destroying them without draining himself to much. He fired the Arcane Shot, easily tearing through golem's body, making it crumble.

Ian hold himself from grabbing the magic core for now. His job is to protect the miner and make sure they come back alive and he will make sure it will happen.

Right then, several Golems appeared, making a sound not unlike an avalanche happening nearby. The sound is irritating to the ears but there is no way he would let it bother him because of something measly like that.

"You will be a good practice target," Ian smiled as he begin to bombard the monsters with no remorse. Blasting them into oblivion.

At the other side, Ana and Fiona were handling the monsters on their own, tearing through the ranks of Mountain Goblins, though they are waiting for a stronger adversary to appear.

"Mountain Orcs," Fiona uttered as they spot the creatures they have been waiting for. Mountain Orcs are grayish in color and similar to the Mountain Goblins, their skins are rougher and tougher, making it harder to kill.

Though harder did not equate to impossible.

 "Arcane Shot,"

 "Greater Slash,"

The two women easily cut of the leading Mountain Orcs, their attacks easily killing the monsters. However, they did not celebrate yet as they spot more monsters coming, marching towards them.

"Sir Miner," Fiona asked respectfully. "Are there usually this many monsters we need to face?" the miner looked at them and shook their heads.

"There must be something that make this many monsters coming here. We are still relatively near the bottom of the mountain so there should be something of interest or they were driven away by something," the miner speculate before going back to mining.

"Whatever it is, the sooner I fill my quote, the faster we can get out of this damn mountain," he said, making the two girls nod in agreement.

Another one hour passed and the monsters still not stopping. "Seriously, this is getting out of hand," Ian exclaimed. Thankfully, he unlocked the Talent Mana Master, making his spell's mana consumption dropped as well as increasing his mana recovery, essentially making it impossible for him to run out of mana.

So, he don't need ana Mana Potion, which are all given to Fiona, who gulped her third one today.

"How long will this take?" Ana asked as she skewered another Orc. She then manhandled another one before cutting one's arm off and then cutting it's head.

"Another Flare coming right up!" Fiona yelled, as a bright light caused the monsters, except for the golems, to scream in pain. Both Fiona and Ana make short works on the blind enemies.

As for Ian, he was handling the Golem, which had their name changed to rubble. He easily destroy them all, his spell strong enough to break their rocky exterior with ease.

"I think this is the last of them," Ian said before launching another Arcane Shot into another golem, making it crumble. Hearing this, the other two regained their vigor as they began to destroy the monsters as quickly as possible.

"That is a lot of monsters," Ian said, slumping on the ground. While he still have plenty of mana, he still suffer from physical and mental fatigue.

"True, the only good thing is that we get a lot of magic cores out of it," Ana said, trying to see the good side of it.

"Yes, but still, there should be reason why the monsters come here," Fiona said, clearly considering the reason of it.

"No matter, lets get going. But first, we should collect the magic cores first," Ian ordered. The other two nodded while miner remained respectful, even letting them grab the magic core. Or he just did not want to anger them.

Ian walked to a hidden section of the mountain, with a frown on his face. While the others might not know the reason of the monsters' attack, he managed to find the reasoning behind it, or to be exact, the person behind it.

"So, you still alive," Ian said coldly, seeing the man in front of him having half of his body buried under rocks. He had launched an Arcane Shot in the man's direction, blasting the top of the mountains and causing rocks to fall on the man, essentially giving him a death sentence.

"And you use this to attract the monsters," he continued speaking, in his hand a bottle of liquid Even so, the man kept silent. He then pour some of the liquid on the men, before walking away.

"I hope the Mountain Rat will eat you alive," he said, ignoring the pleading of killing him before the Mountain Rats get to him.
