Daisy's eyes still retained their previous arrogance as she stood there, dressed as a maid. However, there was a hint of guilt within them as well.
She glanced at the unconscious maid and cursed under her breath.
Men were as hateful as it could get but she never had any sort of harsh feeling towards women.
Daisy dragged a palm down her face. Feeling a cool sensation on her cheek, she glanced at the diamond mood ring on her fingers, ''I could have given this to you,'' she looked at the unconscious girl near the bushes, ''But it will bring you more disaster than fortune,'' she wanted to compensate this girl for knocking her out but this ring will only bring her trouble if someone recognized it as her belonging.
With one last look at her, Daisy started walking away. She swiftly stepped far away from the garden area and rushed on the paved path that led to the exit.
Her fingers raked through her dark hair as she covered half of her face with her it, ''Ahhh...'' she screamed in panic, ''Help...''
The guards in the distance started running towards her when they heard her screams.
Tears rolled down her cheeks as Daisy grabbed a man's hand, ''Brothers, help me... I was cleaning this place when I saw a strange man looking at me. I have never seen him before. So scary,'' she sobbed.
The usage of 'brother' in their country was not just limited to siblings. It was used in an affectionate manner as well.
So, combined with the delicate voice calling them 'brother' and the beautiful sobbing face of the maid, her helplessness, all the men who had hearts of steel felt their protectiveness awakening.
''Is it that thief?" One of the men guessed and the rest nodded at the possibility.
''Don't worry, sister. We are going to catch the bad guy for you,'' they said.
Daisy sobbed, breaking their hearts in the process but soon, she mustered a soft smile amidst her sobs, tickling the broken pieces of their hearts as she said, ''I admire... y-you all so much. So strong...'' she blushed.
Having their egos stroked, the men were even faster to go to the mansion so they could capture that thief and milk more praises from their 'sister' later. All of them had lovestruck expressions and they even left one of their brothers to look after her in case she was still scared.
'Lucky guy' they glared at their brother like he won some jackpot before they went to look around the place Daisy had mentioned.
''Brother...'' Daisy hugged herself as she glanced at the sturdy man who was left behind by the group to protect her.
The man's heart softened when he saw the delicate woman, ''Don't worry. You are safe.''
The girl sobbed again, ''I am so scared,'' she trembled, ''Can... Can.. you please hold me?"
The man was stunned.
''Please...'' Daisy looked at him weakly.
She must be traumatized, he thought. He immediately stepped forward to hold her hand but she did not let him.
While he was confused, Daisy stood on her tiptoes and hooked her arms around his neck.
The man's breathing turned ragged and his vision got hazy. There was still a decent distance between their bodies. Except for her hands around his neck, none of their body parts were touching yet heat grew inside his body.
He said in a husky voice, ''Don't worry. We will catch the bad guy for you.''
''You can't,'' the girl's voice was calmer this time, no longer sounding like the sobbing mess from earlier.
But the man's body was in a hot pickle so his senses were not as heightened as before and hence, he did not notice anything amiss. He breathed to regulate self-control, ''What?" What did she say again?
''You can't catch the bad guy,'' Daisy repeated.
The man was caught off guard, ''Huh? Why? Wh...'' A splitting pain on the back of his head made him forget the rest of his words.
Daisy glanced at the man who was looking at her in disbelief as he stumbled backwards, ''Because I am the bad guy.'' She stepped back from him.
She watched as his eyes sank before he dropped to the ground and lost consciousness.
Unlike the gentle way she dealt with the maid, both the men might wake up with a concussion or short-term memory loss.
She glanced at the gun in her hand that she had stolen from the guard inside. She wanted to toss it away but in the end, she kept it in the maid outfit's pocket.
She did not bother to hide from the cameras as she walked out of the mansion.
Once she had walked far away from the Chen Mansion, she stopped near a tree and pulled out the blonde wig from the other front pocket before she put it on, carefully tucking all her hair inside it.
Daisy walked on the cobblestone path of the road and took out the only thing she had taken from Diana's room.
The thief's loot.
It was a card that she had got from under the lamp that was placed on the bedside table.
Two words were printed on the card in smooth cursive 'Light Orphanage' and they were followed by an address and two contact numbers.
Daisy's eyes turned cold and her fingers gripped the edge of the card a little harder.
''Fuckers,'' she narrowed her eyes.
Daisy went to a nearby internet cafe, attracting everyone's gazes on her way there.
A beautiful short-blonde-haired girl, wearing a maid's dress... it made decent people curious and the indecent people stare.
Unaffected by all the looks she got, she went into a private box.
As soon as she glanced at the blank computer screen in front of her, her eyes turned frosty.
Her fingers started tapping on the keyboard slowly but her casual movements gradually increased in pace and if anyone else was there, they would have been stunned by the blur that her fingers left on the keyboard.
