"Alright, this is as far as we go."
Unnoticed, Captain Marvel and Nick Fury had already strolled down several streets.
To the uninitiated, the two might have appeared like a couple.
When they reached a crossroads, Captain Marvel stopped and bid farewell to Nick Fury.
"You just got to Earth, right?"
"Do you need me to arrange a place to stay for you?"
Nick was thoughtfully seeking Captain Marvel's preference.
"No need, I want to go see Rambeau and that little troublemaker captain."
"My God, has that little troublemaker become a big troublemaker by now?"
Captain Marvel already had her plans in mind.
Nick nodded, showing no objections: "I think they'll be really happy to see you."
Nick knew who "Rambeau" referred to, that was indeed Maria Rambeau, Captain Marvel's close comrade-in-arms, and best friend, who had gone into space with her to face the Kree.
Despite having a seemingly minor role in "Captain Marvel," she was actually a formidable character and one of the founders of S.W.O.R.D.
In the alternate universe of 838, Captain Marvel was no longer Carol Danvers, but Maria Rambeau instead.
Furthermore, Maria Rambeau's daughter, Monica Rambeau, also known as the little troublemaker captain, was the renowned superhero Spectrum.
She gained superpowers in the "WandaVision" series and plays a significant role in the unreleased "Captain Marvel 2."
Of course, these were all events of the future, unknown to Nick Fury and Captain Marvel at the time.
She simply wished to reunite with her old friends.
And so, Captain Marvel and Nick parted ways there.
Over the next few days, Captain Marvel spent time with her old friend Rambeau while discussing with Nick Fury the matter of resolving the Skrull issue.
Undoubtedly, given the identities of Captain Marvel and Nick Fury, the division of tasks was very clear.
Captain Marvel was responsible for finding a new home for the Skrulls in the stars, while Nick Fury was to handle the settlement of the Skrulls on Earth.
The two quickly reached an agreement, without much fuss.
"Danvers, how long do you plan to stay on Earth this time?"
After setting the primary tone, Nick raised his head and asked Captain Marvel such a question.
"I'll stay for a few more days; Maria's sick, and it would be heartless to leave now."
Captain Marvel responded as if it were the most natural thing.
Nick nodded, indicating he understood.
He pondered briefly and then suggested, "Also, it's been a while since you've seen Talos, right? I want to arrange a time for everyone to meet."
Captain Marvel saw through Nick's intentions, which were plainly to have her presence reassure the Skrulls and to show them active efforts were being made on their behalf, rather than being given empty promises.
However, Captain Marvel truly had no reason to refuse.
Considering their past camaraderie, it was only right and natural to meet.
She gladly consented to the proposal.
After Captain Marvel had no objections, Nick swiftly made the arrangements.
Four days later, in a very secure secret base, Talos, Graue, and a group of other Skrulls on Earth were gathered.
"Why has Nick Fury suddenly summoned us all here?"
"What else could it be? He must have an important mission for us."
"That's right; he only thinks of us when there's a job to be done."
The Skrulls whispered among themselves, embodying a mix of dissatisfaction.
Over the years, it was clear they harbored quite some resentment towards Nick.
Graue, however, was cool and said little, revealing a barely noticeable sneer.
The others complained because they still had hope in Nick Fury.
But Graue? He had seen through it all—Nick Fury had abandoned them!
Any talk of helping them find a new home was utter nonsense.
It was merely an excuse Fury used to manipulate them into serving his needs.
As for Talos? The old leader had become senile and unable to present a real future for the Skrulls.
As such, Graue resolved to forge a future for the Skrulls himself.
"Alright, quiet down everyone," Talos said, frowning slightly, as he called for order, and the venue became quiet.
At that moment, Talos was still their leader, not yet overshadowed by Graue.
His words still carried weight.
As the noise died down, Talos addressed the Skrulls, "We should wait for Nick Fury to arrive and see what he has to say, guessing here is pointless."
The Skrulls eagerly awaited Nick Fury's appearance.
Creak! It wasn't long before the door opened.
Nick, donning a striking coat, strode in confidently, but he wasn't alone.
Swish! All eyes instantly fixed onto his companion.
There were looks of surprise, joy, and astonishment.
"Take a look, someone's come to see you all."
Nick was pleased with the Skrulls' reaction to Talos and the others.
"Danvers, you're back!"
Talos stood up, thrilled, moving towards Captain Marvel.
To him, Captain Marvel was still revered for their assistance in defeating the Kree.
Otherwise, they wouldn't be on Earth; they wouldn't even be alive.
The other Skrulls also came over to greet Captain Marvel.
The atmosphere was quite harmonious.
Captain Marvel, too, greeted everyone with a smile.
Amidst the friendly reunion, Nick took the opportunity to reassure the Skrulls that Captain Marvel and he were actively working to find them a new homeland and urged them to be patient.
Although there's no concrete lead yet, some progress has been made.
More importantly, everyone is working hard on this, so results will come sooner or later.
The Skrulls, too, will eventually find their own home.
I must say that with Captain Marvel's endorsement, the promise that Nick Fury made to the Skrulls this time has been quite convincing.
It has settled the Skrulls, who were already restless and dissatisfied with Nick Fury, to a significant extent.
Of course, this time it can't be called empty promises, given that Captain Marvel has indeed decided to help the Skrulls in finding a new home.
Whether or not they find one is another matter, but at least they're taking action.
All in all, bringing Captain Marvel back this time was the right call, in the perspective of the person called Fury.
But everyone understands Captain Marvel.
Despite being a genuine Earthling, it's clear that she doesn't consider Earth her home.
She's devoted to maintaining interstellar peace all year round, tirelessly acting as a cosmic nanny.
Though she stayed a few extra days this time because her good friend was sick, it was only about a week in all.
Whoosh!
After saying goodbye to everyone, under the watchful eyes of the Rambeau mother and daughter along with Fury, Captain Marvel transformed into a streak of light and shot towards the sky.
Looking up at the golden speck shrinking in the sky until it finally disappeared, Fury felt quite content.

[Diary update quota reached.]
[Congratulations to the diary owner, Zhou Cheng, on receiving a random grand gift package!]
Zhou Cheng, inside his luxurious residence, felt even better than Fury upon hearing this notification.
Although Zhou Cheng has had the diary for quite a while and has received rewards many times,
the excitement in his heart can barely be contained at the moment of each "lottery draw."
Okay, Zhou Cheng admits he's a little bit materialistic.
But right now, he truly couldn't wait to see what good stuff this "blind box" would reveal.
Woosh!
Under Zhou Cheng's expectant gaze,
a burst of light shot out of the diary and into his body.
Zhou Cheng felt a surge of excitement.
Skills!
It seems that this time the diary's reward is a skill!
Zhou Cheng couldn't be more pleased.
Compared to the various props, what he wanted most were skills.
As the light entered his body, a string of related information also emerged in Zhou Cheng's mind.
[Item: Self-healing]
[Attribute: Superpower]
[Origin: Hero]
[Detailed Introduction: Originating from cheer squad captain Claire Bennet's superpower, it allows the healing of even the most severe injuries in a short time, no less powerful than Wolverine's]
"Heroes"?
That's a pretty old TV series!
Zhou Cheng had watched it before, but had mostly forgotten it, recalling only fragmented pieces of the plot and characters.
However, the cheer squad captain had left a very deep impression on him.
The diary was correct; her self-healing ability is indeed on par with Wolverine's.
"This could max out my defense!" Zhou Cheng couldn't help but laugh.
An indestructible body, combined with Wolverine-level self-healing.
Looking at the entire Marvel universe, very few could harm Zhou Cheng.
He was very satisfied with this reward.
"Haha, not bad at all!" Zhou Cheng grinned, quite pleased.
He was tempted to try out the effects by cutting himself, but then remembered that with his indestructible body, self-harming wouldn't be easy.
So, he decided against it.
It seems that being too powerful can sometimes be a real dilemma!
"Let's see if there's anything interesting going on!"
Shaking his head to clear those messy thoughts, Zhou Cheng eagerly picked up his computer.
With practiced ease, he started typing on the keyboard.
It must be said, with the hacking technology from the shockwave woman, controlling major events in the world has become much easier.
Just wondering what sort of interesting or critical things had happened recently.
With this in mind, Zhou Cheng quickly executed several operations.
Deleted or banned information flashed across his computer screen, and soon, a photo caught Zhou Cheng's keen attention.
It was a picture of a woman bathed in golden light.
"This is... Captain Marvel!"
A look of surprise flashed across Zhou Cheng's face.
What the hell?
During this period, shouldn't Captain Marvel still be roaming the stars? How did she end up back on Earth?
Not to mention, the Battle of New York hasn't even happened yet!
So, the deviations from the Marvel Cinematic Universe are indeed significant!
Zhou Cheng's mind raced as he subconsciously took out his diary to record his thoughts.
...
"I hope things get back on the right track."
Back in his office in the Triskelion, Nick Fury couldn't help thinking to himself.
Danvers, this time, is sincerely helping the Skrulls find a home.
Fury feels the same.
Both have changed their attitudes towards this matter.
The only worry is that it's not an easy task.
Whether Danvers can actually find a suitable planet, that's still okay.
But if not, those Skrulls remain a ticking time bomb.
No, more like a ticking nuclear bomb.
So, though he dislikes this feeling, Fury must admit it.
It seems that all their hopes, or at least most of them, currently rest on Danvers.
Hopefully, Danvers will succeed!
Shaking his head with a sigh, Nick Fury put away these thoughts.
He pondered for a moment, then took out his diary from the drawer to its latest page.
To his surprise, the diary had updated.
[Captain Marvel has returned to Earth? This course of events is completely off!]
[After scaring off Ronan, shouldn't Captain Marvel only return during the Infinity War when Fury calls for her? Definitely not now.]
[Could something be happening on Earth?]
[With Captain Marvel's level of power, it couldn't possibly be something minor.]
[After all, she is a true powerhouse in the Marvel world.]
[Even holding back against a fully Infinity Stoned Thanos is one thing, but if she unleashes her full power, destroying a star is effortless!]
The poor protagonist hasn't been in the spotlight for a while; let him make an appearance to maintain his presence.
