Chapter 13

That night, Kael settled in his room. He went through the book he had found in the room he was locked in. The meeting with his father had gotten him irritated.

He was not expecting that he would be only kicked for a few minutes. He thought maybe it would be a few days before he would be released. He tried to remember if he had been locked up in the tower when he was eighteen but he could not remember.

Cassius had lectured him on being respectful to Augustus. Kael had stood as he listened to his father talk and as Augustus insisted that he was not annoyed with him.

Kael couldn't care less about his brother being annoyed with him. If he was given the chance, then Augustus wouldn't be talking at the moment but if there was one thing he learnt from his past life, it was that he should not be hasty especially when it came to things like this.

Kael tried to focus on reading the book but then George's head appeared, making Kael scream in shock.

"What…what the…what are you doing?" Kael stammered.

George gave him an eye roll. "Trying to scare you. You still have not answered my question."

Kael calmed down. "What was your question?"

"What is your attribute? What is the colour of your core?" George asked him.

Kael replied with an eyeroll.

"Why are you so obsessed with the colour of my core?"

"I want to understand something. And I want to know how you did that stuff in the room."

Kael groaned. "Like I've been telling you, I did nothing. I only told the knight to leave the room."

"It was more than that," George told him.

"I have no idea what you are talking about. Now, if that is all, I would like to continue reading." Kael told him.

"Keep the book first and talk to me."

"I have nothing to talk to you about."

"And I have something to talk to you about."

"I have no idea what you saw in the room but like I've said, I only told the knight to leave."

"You really take me for a fool don't you?" George asked Kael.

Kael released a tired sigh. He covered the book and placed it under his pillow as he tried to sleep. Tried being the keyword because George made sure to ask him what colour his core was with every chance he got.

—------------------------------------

"Didn't get enough sleep?" Hebron asked Kael the next morning.

Kael had only slept for a few hours. He had no idea he would be that fatigued but George's questions and hovering about kept him awake longer than intended.

The only reason he was awake was because Cassius had sent the maids to wake him up and seeing as they were given the authority to disrupt his morning, they did it rather joyfully. Kael hated it and he should have expected it. Cassius always sent maids to wake him up whenever he was late, especially when he missed breakfast.

Kael did not want to stay in his room nor did he want to stay with Augustus so he decided to meet with Hebron. There were numerous things he could learn from Hebron. Things that would also help him in the future.

Kael groaned. "No."

Hebron chuckled at his answer. "Did you decide that your grumpy self would be a much better company for me then?"

"What?"

"Why are you here? Normally you would be in the library or running after your brother."

"Maybe I've changed," Kael told him.

Kael heard a scoff from his shoulder and he knew that had come from George. George had attached himself to Kael and Kael had no idea how to shake him off so he was ignoring the ghost at the moment. He had once thought of telling George the colour of his core but he decided not to, especially since the ghost had been pestering him like he had something to gain from knowing the colour of Kael's core.

And he claimed Kael had done something in the room when the knight had come to summon him but Kael was sure nothing had happened. At least nothing that he had been aware of. If something had happened then he would have been aware. And besides he was familiar with magic, especially after having used it for over four years in his past life.

Hebron chuckled, making Kael snap from his thoughts. "I'm not saying this as an insult but everyone knows how attached you are to your brother. You don't just change overnight, it just doesn't happen."

Kael shrugged. "Are we going to do this or not?"

"You look so lanky to be within the training grounds," Hebron said to him.

"Which is why I want to buff up a bit. Add some muscle and what better way to do it than to train with knights?" Kael asked him.

"You do know that most knights are people who have a low affinity for magic or none at all right?" Hebron asked him.

"So?"

Hebron shook his head. "I'm saying you should be going to the academy to learn more about magic and not be here with me."

"Who said I wasn't going to the academy?" Kael asked him.

Hebron looked shocked. "You said so. I remember you insisting that you had nothing to do with the academy. That you could learn everything from the books and also that you were not a good fit, especially with the issue about your core."

Kael remembers everything. But at the end of the day, he still attended the academy although he later dropped out. Not this time though. This time, he was going to do everything in his power to not only stay in the academy but also gain more power which was why he was with Hebron at the moment.

"I've changed my mind. I feel like if I want to learn more about my core then I should probably go to the academy." Kael said to him.

Hebron gave him a nod. "But you also want to train here?"

"Exactly. I need all the strength I can get and we are not so sure the academy would be able to help me with my core." Kael said to him.

"What exactly is the colour of your core?" George asked Kael but Kael ignored him again.

Hebron smiled at Kael. "I don't know what came over you or what has gotten into you but I'm all for it. You have my support."

Kael laughed. "Does that mean you're going to help me?"

"Yes but don't expect me to go easy on you."

"I would never. I don't even want that." Kael told him truthfully.

"Suit up."
