The snow outside had intensified, falling in a thick deluge that quickly painted the surroundings a blanket of white.
Su Pan'er left the palace in a sedan chair, and as expected, Qin Yi was waiting at the palace gate, frequently peeping out.
Shrouded in a thick layer of snow, when he saw Su Pan'er emerge unharmed, his face blossomed into a smile, and he rushed forward to assist her.
"How was it? Did His Majesty give you a hard time?"
"Not at all."
Su Pan'er hurriedly brushed the fine snow off his head, "Such a heavy snowfall, why don't you take shelter in the carriage? Or at least stand somewhere out of the wind. You don't want to catch a cold!"
"I was afraid you wouldn't see me when you left the palace."
Qin Yi's smile was incredibly gentle, warming Su Pan'er's heart along.
"Such a big place, how could I miss you? Idiot!"
A gust of wind blew, stirring up a flurry of fine snow that relentlessly worked its way onto faces, mouths, and necks, inciting incessant shivers.
