After asking a few more questions and finding out that the little girl seemed to be clueless about everything, Nanzhi sighed and pulled out a handkerchief to gently wipe her tear-stained face.
"How about you come home with me until your daddy comes to get you, would that be okay?"
"Okay."
The little girl nodded timidly, her small hand clutching Nanzhi's tightly, terrified that she might leave her behind.
Just as the three of them were about to take the little girl home, Liu Jie, the neighborhood patrol, happened upon them.
Upon seeing Nanzhi and her companions, Liu Jie's eyes lit up. He signaled for his companions to continue patrolling the streets, while he himself hurried towards them.
"Ma'am, business has been good lately? You've packed up your stall early today."
Liu Jie grinned but looked somewhat confused when he noticed Nanzhi and the little girl by her side.
"Who is this child?"
