章 6: Chapter Six

Wolbach left a few days later.

Thankfully, our father was none the wiser about who she was, and he did not question about the absence of an abandoned temple when I told him I made a new spell and its reach exceeded my expectations.

He was too proud to care.

Right now, Ethan and I were staring at a clothes rack blankly, not really wanting to believe what we were seeing.

"Dude... is that a sniper rifle?"

I did not respond.

"Seriously?"

I remained silent, not sure what to say, but knowing that if I opened my mouth, the most hainous of slures would spill our at the idiocy of my people.

"So, hows life been going for you lately?"

I turned to the side and continued my way down the road as I dragged my brother behind me. He just grunted in annoyance.

"It's fine, despite the latest developments. How's your student?"

My lips thinned as I thought about what happened two days ago. Megumin, the girl I brought to my house with the dark goddess, asked me to teach her the white nova.

I declined, of course, but when Yunyun told her that I was already teaching her some magic, the smaller girl asked to join the training sessions.

Which I reluctantly accepted.

Now, she was over every day since learning from the books I have written.

I sighed, the ramifications of learning such a destructive spell were not lost on me. Now a child learning this spell could and would be disastrous.

"She's smart, really smart, and has the drive, though I don't know. I don't like the responsibility."

He hummed understandingly, knowing exactly what I was talking about, sometimes, it was nice just going on a walk.

"How are your spells coming along?"

He shrugged, holding out a hand and I watched as seemingly out of nothing a dagger appeared. He threw it in the air and let it pass through his hand.

I nodded in appreciation. Illusion magic was a pain in the ass and I couldn't develop it even if I tried. This bitch did it in a week.

"How about your inventory?"

I raised an arm and a cup appeared in my hand, right now, it was small, really small, I could only fit a cup inside, but I was working on it.

"It's small right now, but I should have it to a carriage size by the end of the week."

He looked at the cup, at me, and slapped me on the back of my head.

Ow, Bitch! Giving him a scathing look, I gave him two minutes to explain before I froze his ass.

"You made that shit in two days, dumbass, and the end of the week is tomorrow."

I glared at him and raised an arm ice shards floating on top of my palm. He narrowed his eyes back and lightning crackled. We stared at each other for a while.

Finally, I sighed and resumed our stroll.

The village was quiet in the mornings, that's why I liked taking walks.

"Wanna go grind?"

I looked up at the sky, saying farewell to peace, quiet, and tranquility. Nodding, I felt my surroundings shift and I was standing in a forest.

I looked around and realized that I left Ethan behind, undeterred, I waited for a few seconds and he appeared next to me, looking at me with irritation.

"I swear to fucking god, dude, you have more modified spells than you have clothes."

I shrugged, that was true.

"Well, its a talent?"

His irritated stare turned into a glare.

"You connect words that should not even be in a sentence together."

My lips thinned and I looked to the side, avoiding eye contact. I heard a tree behind me burst into splinters and saw the shadow of what I recognized as a one-punch bear that was trying to destroy me on the spot.

A second later, an earth dome surrounded the monster, reinforced with mana, and a second later, spikes erupted from the said dome, spraying blood and bits of internal organs around.

Ethan looked at my handiwork and back at me for a moment and shook his head like I was a lost cause. I would take offense to that if it wasn't true.

"These things don't change territories unless there is something stronger occupying it, so we either have a new monster to kill, or they're overpopulating."

There was a possibility, this place was ways away from their territory, but nevertheless, we weren't here for these guys. We were looking for Fiends or serpant lions.

They were deeper in the forest, and were lone predators unless a female had kids.

Pursing my lips, I looked into the trees, spotting more glowing eyes, far more than was usual for when they were expanding their territory.

Something scared them off from their previous home.

Humming, I raised a hand and felt the wind pick up, gathering around me. there was no visible effect, it was just wind, but I felt the arrows forming above me.

The ground froze around me, holding down the bears in place as my arrows cut through the air, piering most of them in their heads. Of course, I left some of them alive, they would need to repopulate after all.

Which was stupidly easy for them, two months was all it took for a cub to grow into a fully grown bear.

"Lets go, we need to find what got their panties in a bunch, so they can go back to not bothering us when we come back here."

Ethan walked past me, cold air visible around him as he shoved his arm inside his pocket and I followed. I would admit, my interest was piqued. Sure, these bears might not be much of a challenge to a competent crimson demon, much less us, but they were no pushover.

I felt mana circulating around Ethans body, sinking into his muscles and I followed his example. Better be prepared for anything, this place was unpredictable.
