章 5: Chapter Five
"So, you are one of the parts of a dark god, and that thing I one shot was your other half... And I only gained ten levels from killing that thing? I was ripped off!"
I threw my hands up and slumped into the couch. Man, what a letdown.
Ethan gave me a look which I dutifully ignored and continued my brooding.
Wolbach seemed somewhat put out but didn't say anything and resumed staying silent.
"Anyway, what will you do now that you are free?"
The woman in front of us frowned in thought at my brother's question, instead of making it obvious that I was planning on blowing this room to kingdom come if she answered wrong, I looked at my adventurer card again, scanning any relevant information.
I could change my class, that was neat.
The first option was "SpellBlade" But if I'm honest, wielding a sword wasn't really my thing and the other one was "RuneKnight" Both not suited for my tastes. While swinging a sword might be effective, my current class of ArchWizard provided me with more options and flexibility.
Sighing, I put my card away and looked at Wolbach who was still thinking.
I waited, placing my elbow on the armrest and leaning my head on my fist. This was taking awfully long. Couldn't she hurry up? I may be able to muster up some enthusiasm occasionally, but I just wanted a quiet life, and this dark god was not helping things at all.
"I... I don't know."
I hummed at the answer, not unexpected. Someone who was sealed for hundreds of years, probably wanting nothing more than freedom, did not know what to do now.
I could understand that.
The same thing happened to me, but those were thoughts to delve into later.
Even if this woman was a goddess, she did not know what to do.
"How about you try living?"
I suggested something that should have been told to me a long, long time ago.
She looked surprised for a moment, pondered, and smiled.
"Yes, I would like that."
I nodded and stood up, I needed to make tea. Stopping myself from going to the kitchen, I held up a hand and a magic circle came into existence, clay materialized out of nowhere, conjured purely from my mana and I heated it up manually to make it harden. Five cups dropped into my hands and I placed them down, the next thing was a giant blob of water that I used from the tea packet that I took out from the table drawer and soaked it into the water while heating it up too.
With just a thought, the giant blob of hot tea separated into five tendrils and divided themselves into cups evenly.
taking two cups, I walked to the stairs and went to the second floor to Yunyun's room. Putting one cup on top of the other, I knocked on the door.
"Come in!"
I opened the door and looked inside, where Yunyun and the girl I brought to my house whose name I didn't know were reading one of the books on magic creation theory, but an easier version.
"Big Bro! Megumin is really smart! Can she come over again?"
I didn't know what her being smart had to do with it but whatever.
"Sure, why not? The tea is ready, ladies. Please enjoy."
I handed the two of them the cups and smiled, leaving the room as swiftly as I came, giving my sister all the time she wanted with her new friend.
Walking back downstairs, I saw Ethan and Wolbach drinking the tea, so I sat down next to my brother again and grabbed my cup, taking a sip and sighing in satisfaction.
Tea was the only thing that soothed nerves and was pleasant to drink in this world since actual processed coffee wasn't an option. And with magic, everything was easier to make and with the water being clean, everything turned out better.
The silence this time was pleasant... While it lasted.
"I'm home!"
And the problem child was back in the house. Wolbach looked toward the entrance, seeing our father who looked too proud of himself, meaning that he did something Chunni today.
"Oh! We have a guest! I am called Hiropon! He who leads this village! Chief of all crimson demons!"
I blinked, Ethan blinked, and Wolbach blinked.
"Eh, four out of ten."
I shrugged, he gave away too much information and crossed arms with legs wide wasn't impressive.
Our old man looked like he was just stabbed through the heart by someone he grew up with and trusted his whole life. Falling to his knees, he looked at his hands with horror on his face.
"My own son..."
He muttered but by now, everybody was ignoring him.
I sipped the tea again and looked at Wolbach, wondering what was the spell she was using before I basically killed her. Instead of just thinking about it and not asking, I decided to do the sensible thing.
"By the way, what was the spell that you were using when I arrived?"
The magic circles looked amateurish at best. Sure it did gather mana from the surrounding atmosphere, but everything else had a single command.
Explode.
"Oh, that spell was Explosion."
... No wonder.
I rubbed my forehead. What a letdown.
"I noticed that you arrived with Teleport, isn't having one of the slots as that abandoned place kind of a waste?"
I just rolled my eyes at that.
"That dumb thing? Yeah, I just modified the spell circle, no restriction, reduced activation time, and free movement to anywhere I have previously been. The guy who made the spell was kind of an idiot if you ask me."
I shrugged. I was downplaying the spell. The reason you could only teleport to three places at a time was that you left anchors when you registered a location, I had to get rid of that feature and connect the spell to the user, not just a set place.
Now I could teleport to anywhere I have been if I could recall the place clearly enough.
