章 23: Chapter 23: Blinding Vow

"Now then, let's get down to our main subject and the reason for my visit," I stated, shifting the focus to the purpose of our gathering within the mind world.

"What is it that you need for you to give me a Bribery?" Sukuna pressed, his tone laced with a subtle challenge.

I paused, allowing the weight of my words to settle within the bone-filled chamber of the mind world. Sukuna's piercing gaze bore into me, his curiosity evident despite his inherent skepticism.

"As you know, Sukuna, the fight with the Soul Eater has had quite the impact on the Jujutsu Sorcerers," I began, choosing my words carefully. "I found myself at the center of that battle, bearing the brunt of your formidable power. It falls upon me to provide explanations for my actions during that encounter, particularly regarding my knowledge of the curse's name and my directive to remove the curtains."

Sukuna's expression remained inscrutable as he absorbed my explanation.

"So what does any of that have to do with me?" Sukuna asked, his expression betraying no hint of emotion as he poured himself another glass of the elixir.

At this point I am starting to think he is only here with me to drink my elixir.

"It has a lot to do with you. Do you remember what excuse I told Megumi to convince him to remove the curtain?" I asked Sukuna, who was sipping his drink.

"I believe you said something like 'Sukuna told me to do it', right." Sukuna replied casually, his tone betraying a hint of amusement as he took another sip of the elixir.

"Yes, that's correct," I affirmed, nodding in agreement. "But now they want to know why you told me such a thing," I continued, echoing Sukuna's sentiment with a touch of urgency. "The Jujutsu Sorcerers seek clarity regarding your involvement in the events surrounding the Soul Eater's attack. They wish to understand the motivations behind your directives."

"But I wasn't the one who told you about the Soul Eater, so I still don't understand what this has to do with me." Sukuna said with a smile. I'm damn sure he's playing with me.

Sukuna's smile widened, a glimmer of amusement dancing in his eyes as he observed my reaction.

I am not going to lie even I find the situation amusement. Most of time I do things with hidden motives. I always have a back up plan, a side effects of living long. But that all change because of a single girl, a demon girl.

Live your life simply, John. Without conspiracy, without massacre. Find some company, create a family, enjoy your moment without regret.

Her voice echoed in my mind, a gentle reminder of the path I had chosen to embrace. It was a path paved with uncertainty and risk, but also with the promise of redemption and renewal.

I couldn't deny the irony of my situation. Here I was, a being accustomed to manipulation and hidden agendas, finding solace in the simplicity of a life lived without regret.

As I let a smile spread across my face, I realized that she had been the catalyst for change in my life. A demon king, the apex of evil, had taught me how to live my life.

Seeing my smile, Sukuna raised an eyebrow, his curiosity piqued by my sudden change in demeanor. It was a rare moment of vulnerability, one that I hadn't anticipated revealing in the presence of the ancient curse.

"Something on your mind, Yuji?" Sukuna inquired, his tone laced with a hint of intrigue as he observed me closely.

I took a moment to collect my thoughts, the memories of the demon girl still fresh in my mind. She had been more than just a fleeting encounter; she had been a guiding light in the darkness, showing me a path.

"It's nothing," I replied, my voice tinged with a sense of introspection. "Just reminiscing about the past and the lessons I've learned along the way."

"So anyway, back to our topic. I need you to lie to them about the information, Sukuna," I said, returning to the matter at hand.

"Lie to them? You know me, Yuji. I am a holy man living his honest life," Sukuna replied with a smirk. "And telling me to lie goes against my principles."

I couldn't help but chuckle at Sukuna's response, "I understand your reluctance to 'lie', but we both know the importance of maintaining certain... diplomatic measures,"

"Ah, playing the diplomat now, are we?" Sukuna's smirk widened, his tone teasing. "So what do you have to offer to make me go along with your plan?"

I met Sukuna's smirk with a calm and collected demeanor. "That's my question," I replied evenly. "What do you need to make you go along with my plan?"

Sukuna leaned back in his chair, considering my question with a thoughtful expression. After a moment of contemplation, he spoke, his voice carrying a hint of intrigue. "What I need, Yuji, is control of this body."

Sukuna's request gave me pause, but I remained composed as I considered his proposition. "Control of this body is not something I can offer," I replied evenly. "But I understand your desire for autonomy."

I took a moment to gather my thoughts before continuing. "Instead of full control, I can offer you limited access to my body," I proposed. "You may take over when necessary, but under strict conditions and limitations that we both agree upon."

Sukuna's expression remained impassive as he considered my counteroffer. After a moment, he nodded in acceptance. "Very well, Yuji," he conceded. "Your terms are acceptable. But we need to perform a blinding vow as I don't fully trust you."

Suspicious! He agreed to my request too easily. From my experience, I can feel some kind of plotting is going on, something I have yet to discover. Sukuna, being a curse with a notorious past, anything he is plotting can't be good. But currently I can only agree with him, as I am taking the non-aggressive path in this life. Then again, I should be careful about the safety of my friends.

"You see, if I let you out freely, then there's a chance you might harm people close to me." I said.

"That is why there is a blinding vow; if either of us broke our promise, we will be punished accordingly," Sukuna replied, his tone confident.

I nodded, acknowledging the logic behind his words, yet remaining wary of the potential repercussions. "I understand," I replied evenly. "Let us proceed with the blinding vow and solidify our agreement."
