Chapter 007
Drew signed the necessary documents and recieved two cards. He handed one over to Hugo.
"I.." Hugo wanted to reject.
It was not like he was deaf or somethin. This card was worth a million grams.
However, the gaze Drew shot at his way shut him up.
Diane watched this display in surprise. She felt that this young man who could spend two million without batting an eyelid was anything but simple.
Plus, he didn't like showing off and treated his subordinates well. Unlike the other young rich scions she met in the past, Drew was simply exceptional.
Having good looks was a triple plus too.
"Thank you miss Diane. You have done me a favour" Drew showed his appreciation.
"What are you doing? you were the one who spent the money!" Diane laughed with amusement.
However, she would never have expected the real reason Drew was thanking her was because of the two thousand deci points he profitted from their deal.
"So, what are your plans?" she asked.
"Uhm.."
"You didn't come here for sightseeing, did you?" Diane joked.
"Well, i am planning on attending an auction. I heard there a good stuff to be auctioned off today" Drew replied.
"Red mist Auction house really does have a sound reputation. None of the items taken out to auction disappoints" Diane agreed.
"What a coincidence. I was about preparing for the auction too" Diane lied.
Normally, she had too much paper works to clear so she would usually send some of her subordinates to these kind of scenes.
However, she decided to abandon her work temporarily so she could accompany Drew.
If she could gain the support of the behemoth behind Drew, her family business would see a steady growth.
"Alright" Drew agreed.
It would be nice to be accompanied by a beauty such as Diane.
Ten minutes later, the trio exited the restaurant. Diane had wanted to sack Bryan and Tory, but Drew talked her out of it.
Although those two mocked him, he knew they were just doing their jobs.
If he had wore flamboyant clothes, he wouldn't have been mocked by them.
Along the way, Drew bought street food and the trio ate them while conversing. Drew gleaned a lot of information about Diane.
She was the second child and only daughter of a local Millionaire Marcus Cooks.
Diane studied business administration and took over her father's restaurant.
They finally arrived at their destination after a ten minutes trek.
"Have you participated in an auction before?" Drew asked Diane.
"That was two years ago. I attended with my dad. The auction was hosted in a metropolitan city. What about you?"
"This is my first time"
Unlike other Auction Houses, Red Mist Auction House didn't place restriction on those who could participate, As long as you don't make trouble or over bid beyond your capability,
When Drew got inside the huge auction hall, he drew in a breath.
The crowd was so massive!
Since they came late, all the chairs at the fore front were already taken.
So, they had no choice but to seat at the rear end. The hall was noisy, thanks to the chattering .
Suddenly, the hall went dark. A spot light lit up, appearing on a lean man with side buns who just appeared on the stage.
Instantly, the chattering stopped. The silence felt so eerie to Drew.
It was his first time attending an auction after all.
"Good afternoon. My name is Malik Powers. And i will be in charge of today's auction. On behalf of Red mist Auction house, i'd like to thank you all for gracing this event"
"The rules are simple. Bid for what you wish to buy. However, don't bid beyond your capacity. If caught, you will be charged with a fine"
"Alright. Let us start with the first item" Malik spoke through the megaphone he held.
Two females in Red mist Auction house uniform walked up the stage, pushing a show glass.
Within it was the first item. However due to the purple cloth covering it, everybody became curious.
Just what was inside?
Malik opened the show glass and removed the purple cloth.
Instantly, a wave of comfort washed over the whole hall. It was as if all the pains and worries were blown away by a gentle breeze.
The audiences eyes blazed as they stared at the bead inside the showglass.
The gentle aura was being emitted by the prayer bead.
"Everybody here is not oblivious to prayer beads right? this prayer bead was discovered in a destroyed monk temple. From the records, it once belonged to a great and powerful monk named as Monk calm face. It has been existing for centuries and after being by Monk calm face side for years, inherited his intent"
"This prayer bead has the ability to bring calm to one's soul. This is especially so for those at the brink of their breakthrough. Like the popular saying, give a serpent ten metres distance, give a deviant at the brink of breakthrough a hundred metres distance"
Malik stopped speaking, allowing the audience to digest it.
A majority of them would be lying if they said they were not tempted.
In the current era, Deviants varied based on their strength. To progress was anything but easy.
That's why, whenever a Deviant was at the brink of breakthrough, they tend to get irritated, irrational and troublesome. Sometimes, it even interfers with the breakthrough.
So, the prayer bead was going to incur a furious bid war.
"The starting bid is twenty thousand. Minimum increase of one thousand" Malik announced the start of the bid.
"Twenty two thousand!
"Twenty six thousand!"
"Thirty thousand!"
The once quiet hall became noisy. It was chaotic. Loud bids rang out from almost every corner of the auction hall.
"Are you not bidding?" Diane asked Drew.
From start to the current time, the latter never for once screamed a bid.
"Why aren't you too?" Drew grinned.
"I am not a Deviant"
"Don't worry. I'll start bidding. It is just not yet the time" Drew replied confidently.
Because when he did, he wanted to shock everyone
