She had to look closely at Laila since she still felt a bit sleepy, and that was when she noticed the sword Laila was holding. Safiya stood up like a lightning bolt and snatched it from her hand.
The girl stepped back and frowned. Safiya glared at her, ruffling her hair. She wondered how on earth Laila could just come into this room and hold her sword like it was child's play. "You shouldn't be holding that," she scolded.
"I was not going to use it to harm you," Laila laughed awkwardly. "I don't even know how to use it."
Safiya sighed. "'Just don't touch it; it's dangerous."
Laila nodded and pointed at the table. "I brought your food and got carried away when I saw your weapon. Sorry."
Safiya shook her head, placing her sword at the end of the room. "It's fine." She looked at the table where two covered plates lay, a deep bowl and another bowl covering them. As she moved closer, she saw another larger calabash with water inside.
