"How so?" Amalia asked, ignoring the exchange.

"That's the cleverness of the Demonic Night Palace," Jinhwa Hou explained. "If torturing devils is their pastime, then killing human cultivators is methodical, they do it quickly and cleanly. This is why we've never been able to catch them in the act."

"They may seem impulsive and cruel with devils, but they possess remarkable self-control."

"With a temperament like that, can they really keep it up long-term?" Amalia mused, finding it hard to imagine how such a conflicted person had made it so far.
