Chapter 72: The First Canteen of Shanhe University!

Only the School of Civil Engineering had recruited a dean, and that was Lu Jianhua, the oldest and currently the only academician of Shanhe University.

The vice deans, department heads, and similar positions were almost all filled. The most significant vacancy was in the role of dean.

"It's quite challenging... We might have to wait for the current faculty to become academicians before promoting them," Qin Mu said, shaking his head in apparent frustration.

The position of dean represented the pinnacle of leadership at Shanhe University. Therefore, the requirements set for it were exceptionally high, and only academicians were eligible to hold such positions. However, even academicians seemed hesitant to join Shanhe University. So far, only Lu Jianhua has submitted his resume. If other academicians did not submit their applications, the university might have to promote a dean from within.

The first person to achieve the title of academician recognized by the state would be eligible to become the dean of Shanhe University.

That night, in the "880" staff dormitory building, under Liu Datou's supervision, everyone settled into their dormitories. These teacher's dorms differed from student dorms in that they had two bedrooms and accommodated two people.

Hu Zhengchu, in his seventies, was assigned to share a dormitory with Lu Jianhua. As they unpacked, Lu Jianhua took out several thick books that were not typical publications but rather printed materials.

As he flipped through them, Hu Zhengchu, out of great respect, asked, "Old Lu, are you still studying?"

Lu Jianhua adjusted his reading glasses and nodded, saying, "Yes, I'm studying Shanhe University's textbooks."

He then immersed himself in his research, clearly engrossed.

In the meantime, Hu Zhengchu left him to his studies and stepped out onto the balcony to gaze at the campus scenery.

While looking outside, he remarked, "I never expected... Qin Mu would build Shanhe University so remarkably."

He still remembered that just two months ago, Shanhe University hadn't even had a gate.

Lu Jianhua asked, "Do you know the principal personally? What kind of person is he to have achieved so many theoretical research achievements in architecture?"

In recent years, Lu Jianhua has focused extensively on his expertise in architecture and had limited exposure to the Internet. He had noticed the recent online popularity of Shanhe University and the influx of students. In the architecture textbooks he held, he found the world's leading architectural theories, case studies, and new ideas. Each page was filled with groundbreaking knowledge.

Hu Zhengchu replied candidly, "I certainly do. When Shanhe University was first established, we unintentionally discovered two large tombs..."

He continued to explain how Qin Mu had led the construction team in a unique archaeological excavation. Lu Jianhua, hearing this, found it difficult to believe.

"Leading a construction team in archaeological excavation?" Lu Jianhua echoed in disbelief.

Hu Zhengchu nodded and added, "The principal's achievements in archaeology, I believe, are unparalleled in the world."

He then said, "I joined Shanhe University with the purpose of learning more outstanding archaeological knowledge."

Lu Jianhua inquired, "So, the textbooks for each major at Shanhe University are advanced?"

Realizing the depth of the content, Lu Jianhua found himself overwhelmed.

"I don't know about other majors, but I still have many archaeology textbooks to study," Hu Zhengchu admitted.

Lu Jianhua smiled wryly and agreed that, despite being an academician, he had difficulty understanding many of the profound theoretical achievements found in the architecture textbooks.

The following morning, a loud horn woke up many teachers in the staff dormitory building.

"Teachers, please get up quickly, go to the cafeteria, and apply for the staff meal card!"

Liu Datou stood outside with a loudspeaker and shouted to get everyone moving. Half an hour later, they were ready to go to the cafeteria.

As they gathered around Liu Datou, they couldn't hide their complaints. If looks could kill, Liu Datou would have been in serious trouble.

Liu Datou, realizing their discontent, gave a dry cough and explained, "The principal instructed me to take you to the cafeteria."

Leading the group, they crossed a small road within the campus to reach the nearby cafeteria. On the way, Liu Datou provided some context: "The school currently has two cafeterias, and this one is the first cafeteria. Our construction team eats here."

The construction of the Qinglong Campus was progressing rapidly, and this cafeteria had only recently replaced the large pots of rice used on the construction site.

After work, the construction team would frequently visit this cafeteria.

Liu Datou continued, "The cafeteria operates on a meal card system. Since you are a newcomers, you will need to apply for a meal card before you can eat."

Excited, everyone quickened their pace and eagerly headed toward the cafeteria.

When they reached the cafeteria, they registered their personal information and applied for the staff meal card, which differed from the student meal cards. Students needed to pay for their meals, but staff members could use their meal cards for free as long as the cafeteria remained open.

The cafeteria was already buzzing with activity, and the aroma of breakfast dishes filled the air.

As they sampled the food, they couldn't help but express their amazement and admiration for the delicious meals.

"No wonder Shanhe University's cafeteria has been highly praised online. Its reputation is well-deserved!"

"I can't eat anymore; I've already had three bowls of egg noodles."

"This is the best breakfast I've had in years."

"With a cafeteria-like this, I could live at Shanhe University for the rest of my life."

After enjoying their meals, many teachers lingered in the cafeteria, reluctant to leave.
